Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce 14-game 2021 schedule

WINNIPEG, MB., June 15, 2021 - The Canadian Football League today unveiled a 14-game schedule for the 2021 season. The regular season opens Thursday, August 5th with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers playing host to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at IG Field in a 2019 Grey Cup rematch.

The Blue Bombers vs Ticats showdown will mark the first CFL action to take place since the 107th Grey Cup in Calgary on November 24, 2019.

The revised 14-game 2021 Blue Bombers schedule features seven road and seven home contests. Of the seven dates at IG Field, three will be held on Saturdays, two will be Friday night games with one each on Sunday and Thursday.

The schedule includes the traditional Labour Day Classic and Banjo Bowl games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in successive weekends in September, with the Blue Bombers visiting Regina on Sunday, September 5th and the Riders in Winnipeg on Saturday, September 11th.

The Bombers open the season with consecutive home dates - the opener on August 5th and a visit by the Toronto Argonauts on Friday, August 13th - and then wrap up with back-to-back games on the road, November 13th in Montreal against the Alouettes and November 20th in Calgary versus the Stampeders.

The CFL schedule features two byes for each club, with the Bombers seeing their breaks coming in Week 8 in mid-September and then Week 13 on Halloween weekend.

"We look forward defending our Grey Cup Championship at our home opener on August 5th against the Ticats at IG Field," said President & CEO, Wade Miller.  "It is time to get our players back on the field, coaches on the sidelines and fans in the stands.  This is a very exciting time for the organization, and for all Blue Bombers fans across our province."

Season ticket members will be contacted in the next few days and again by mid-July as the club works with the Province of Manitoba on its Reopening Plan and potential capacity at IG Field for games.
