Jefferson is a must re-sign player, he is to dominate to let go.

No chance he signs anywhere else in the CFL... but we might lose him to an NFL offer...

I agree.

He likes it here (won a championship...how could you not?) and Walters will pay him. We will let Roh walk which will free up some dollars. Hoping we can get McCallister on the roster to be our rotating Int. Cheap and effective.

Too bad we don?t still have Kongbo here on an ELC all next year.

Like Aards said, not worried about anyone wanting to be anywhere but here in the CFL. It?s the ?other league? I?m concerned with. Likely few will stick but they could likely hang there long enough to miss significant time, which makes it very hard for KW to plan.

1st round picks on ELC's aren't usually at minimum dollars. Not sure how much he might have gotten. Since it was clear he wouldn't be able to clear medical for 1/3 of the season that may have set the bar lower for his 1st year. Hard to tell.

In any case would certainly like him back for 2020. It would help the DL rotation but he was improving week to week.

Walters has put us in a better position than other teams, we have the fewest pending FA's in the league...
Yes we have the fewest FA's but how many can we re-sign. We need to bring back Nichols or Collaros and Bryant on offence and Jefferson and Rose on defence.

We are his third team in the CFL. I think we have as good a chance as any, but to say there's no chance is a little optimistic.

BLUE BOMBERS RE-SIGN RUNNING BACK JOHNNY AUGUSTINE

WINNIPEG, MB., December 27, 2019 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed Canadian running back Johnny Augustine to a two-year contract extension. Augustine was scheduled to be a free agent in February.

Augustine (5-9, 206, University of Guelph, July 7, 1993 in Welland, ON) will be entering his third season with the Bombers in 2020 after signing with the club prior to the 2018 season.
He played in 16 regular season games for the Bombers in 2019, rushing 38 times for 242 yards and adding six receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Augustine earned a spot with the Bombers after an impressive training camp in 2018 that included rushing eight times for 81 yards and a touchdown in a preseason win over Edmonton. He dressed for nine regular season games, rushing seven times for 51 yards and a touchdown - all those touches coming in the club's regular season finale in Edmonton.

Augustine played five seasons with the Guelph Gryphons, rushing for 2,742 yards and 28 touchdowns on 483 rushes. In his senior year, Augustine rushed for 690 yards and nine touchdowns on 122 carries.

First round picks are usually in the 85k neighborhood.

We probably had players earning more than the ELC but in the $65-$75K area. I wonder how the new minimum impacts those players when the min goes up to $65K.

It seems unfair to player that were above the min by $10K-$15K to now be on par with the lowest SMS level?

I'm glad the minimum ELC is going up but do wonder how much this changes adds for players already on the roster.

By my count we had about 18 players on ELC's although a few were not at min level.

There are a bunch of players that ended up on the IR to close the season. Many were 1st year players and in theory still under contract. They don't show on either the potential free agent or still under contract lists?? Calver, Latour, Griffith, Williams and Janke to name a few.

Nelson was a 2nd year player that I would have thought earned at least a TC invitation.
