If that is true, then it is a legit fear.  I wonder how Spooner would feel about that offer this year, as he's most likely heading back on the PR?

Unless promised a starting spot (unlikely) he'd be better off here as any injury to Neuf/Goose/Chungh/Couture and he dresses.

Spooner will be on the 46, likely the 2 man reserve getting full pay.

That was Foketi's role last year.  Do you see having 2 OL's in that role this season?  I think one might be an IR candidate.

last year tho we dressed Neufeld AND Couture on the 44 man roster...now with Neufeld now starting we could see Couture and Spooner as the 2 on the 44

WPG Blue Bombers@Wpg_BlueBombers

The team has released defensive back Steven Clarke.

Have to think this is so that he can try to catch on elsewhere...

Wasn't really paying attention to him specifically but still not good enough, I guess?

We have a ton of young guys still in the secondary who have potential. I liked Clarke but I doubt he wouldve taken a PR spot

Wasn't Clarke just in an article saying he wants to show that he's one of the best DB's in the league?  I thought he'd be in tough, but didn't expect a release already.

I'm not surprised to hear that Clarke has been released. It appears we have some young rookie talent fighting for positions and something had to give. Might also be a bit of SMS savings with one of the new guys.

This might also indicate that a couple of the rookies that were nicked have recovered and will need to get some playing time this week.

EDIT: That said it is a bit surprising that he was cut before a few of the rookies. The 1st cut and only cut so far after the exhibition game on Friday?

Shocking!  They just interviewed Clarke yesterday, usually they will not feature a player in an interview that they intend to cut, this is a paradigm shift!

I think it will be difficult to find a replacement who shows better than Brian Walker.

Ya, it would have been real tough to get both Walker and Clarke on the AR.  I wonder if Seisay/Sayles would take a PR job?  I hope Cooper does.

Its quite likely the decision wasn't made yet.

Has there been any word of whether he asked for his release?  Or if it was a mutual decision?  Things are pretty competitive here, he will probably get a job elsewhere fairly easily, heck Cauchy Muamba found a spot Wink ...

Doubt very much he asked for his release. Lo

Watch his interview from yesterday, he was looking forward to this Friday's game against the Lions.

If they sat him down, and told him that he might end up being cut, or offered a PR spot, the option of looking now for another roster spot elsewhere might be a lot easier than waiting until next week...
