Every team has a contract or two they'd rather have a a slightly smaller figure.  It happens.  Little at just over $5mil is going to be a contract that is overpaying, not because he's a bad player, but because we have so many good players that we'd like instead.

If our roster was at the level our 2015 roster was, depth wise, I'm sure the Little contract would not be an issue.  Because he'd be either our #1 or #2 C.  Now, he played 3rd line wing last game, so that Copp can get some time at C.

Is a buyout an option?  t makes the cap hit a lot smaller, and stretches it out over time... I don't think we miss Little as a player going forward, although he is a good guy in the locker-room, and well liked, we could probably save $3mil in cap space.

Addition by subtraction?  If losing him means getting Roslovic to C, or developing Copp...  or even signing Stasny...
The dollar figure of Little's contract is fine...it's probably market value.  It doesn't mean it's a Chevy should have signed though because it likely means we can't keep a younger player who will be more productive.  Little can be traded after year 2 of the contract, so that gives me some hope, but it is a contract I wish was never signed.

From the announcement I cringed at Little's new contract ........ however I did understand why Chevy may have paid a few extra $$'s & term.
Basically feeling that Little is still great at face offs, is capable of contributing 50 - 65 points. However my concern was his ability to compete as the 2nd line center.
Now for some reason he is at wing & Copp, terrific at checking, is now his center.  Copp at 5 goals & real decent ice time most of the year ...... head scratcher

Agree that the Cap is Chevy's near future challenge.      Plus if Seattle is on it's way & those draft rules kick in ...... YIKES !!

Per Ken Wiebe's Twitter feed:

"HC Paul Maurice says D Jacob Trouba still needs to see a few specialists. Trouba remains in concussion protocol, though he ?came in feeling good? on Monday"

"HC Paul Maurice said D Dmitry Kulikov decided against having back surgery (after a final consultation with a doctor) and will receive other treatment for his back instead. The next update on his status will come after four weeks"

Interesting development on Kulikov.

Little is no move until the 2021, in which he has a 14 team no trade clause...

His NMC is only through the 2019-20 season. After that, it's a modified-NC.

Good one going on in Minny tonight.  Hopefully Kings will come in tired for tomorrow.

Tonight is going to be a tough game.... Quick has been pretty hot lately, he has a 1.75 GAA in his last 4 games, and the Kings are one of the few teams in the NHL with a better record on the road than at home.

I would like to think the Kings are starting Campbell tonight, but I cant find their starting lineup tonight anywhere.

Probably too early still. Wiebe has Comrie and Campbell starting tonight in their respective nets, FWIW. Hellebuyck really needs a break.

This is going to be a very tough game for the home team tonight, even with the back-to-back factored in. The Kings are always a tough customer for the Jets.

I'm not sure "Hellebuyck really needs a break".  His play hasn't suffered with him working so much.  Sure, its nice to have a rest, but sitting him isn't a sure fire rest...

If he had been peppered all night last game, sure.  If he'd had a physical game, again, sure.  BUt our D has been pretty good at keeping him clean, and he's been doing a great job.

That said, I would like to get a look at Comrie, just in case.  See if he can bring it...  its not like the season is on the line in this game, and the Kings are decent team, so it will be a true test, not a cakewalk.

Play offs are two months long if you keep winning. You don't rest him because "he needs it", you rest him so he can stay fresh going into the play offs.
