Exactly. And last time I checked, there wasn't some legitimate way to mathematically calculate a player's "heart". ::)

Advanced stats are interesting because they can paint a more colourful picture of players and teams, which is important when addressing shortcomings with either and what improvements can be made to a specific player's game or a team's overall game.

Take a look at the advanced goaltending stats between Carey Price and Pekka Rinne, for example, to see how important the former really is to his team this season.

Price is my Hart trophy winner if the season ended today. I kept hearing Rinne earlier in the season but if your Vezina candidate goalie is playing with a Norris favorite and Calder favorite under a Jack Adams favorite, and GM of the Year candidate, I just don't see how you can justify giving the Hart to that goalie even if Price wasn't playing to the level he is.

The Wild didn't steal Parise. They didn't steal Suter, either. The Wild overpaid for both.

Habs trade Jiri Sekac to the Ducks for Devante Smith-Pelly.

Of the two I'd rather have Sekac but maybe that's just because I don't like DSP.

nice grit trade for the Habs. DSP can be a force especially in the playoffs.

Exactly. Bergevin must have felt the Habs have enough of the soft skilled players. DSP has some playoff experience and should provide the Habs with some board crashing and net front presence.
