It's decent and probably in-line with the market conditions. It bolsters their depth down the middle but he'll be 35 in January, so I'm not sure how well the contract ages - and especially considering their cap situation. Benn, Dadonov, and Granlund are as good as gone, IMO.

Makes me wonder about Steel's status as a pending UFA now. He's due a handsome raise and I wonder if the Stars can afford him.

Chara, Thornton, Keith, Mogilny among 8 elected to Hockey Hall of Fame

Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith and Alexander Mogilny were four of the eight individuals elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Two other players will also be inducted: former Canadian women's national team forward Jennifer Botterill and former United States women's national team forward Brianna Decker.

In the Builders Category, former Boston University coach Jack Parker and former Canadian women's hockey coach, general manager and coaching consultant Daniele Sauvageau were elected.

Too bad it didn't work out for Kane in Edmonton. He was flagged for some iffy penalties in the playoffs and that might have had something to do with why he was moved. He's a stud when his head is right and the Oil may have expected more production from him. Oil did well to part with the contract and also get a 4th in return. A little surprised to see him go to a division rival but BC is home for Kane so maybe they did him a solid. The Canucks could use his toughness so I see it as a win-win if the 'Nucks can avoid the drama potential. I'd like to see him do really well as a Canuck.

99% of the time I'd agree with you but there are players on that Panther team that intentionally injure other players. I have no respect for that.
