Quote from: Blueforlife on October 12, 2026, 07:53:07 PMNever denied anything.  You presented lies and fake news about me.  Taken out of context.  My position remains that Peterson will not spell Brady until he declines (which is the discussion in which I posted the above).  I presented situations today, recently and weeks again when and if I would spell or replace him.

It's time for us to move on.  We don't agree, never will, doesn't matter.  That's ok but please stop saying things about me or what I post that is non factual.  A unfortunate reoccurring behavior.

Okay, it's enough. Both of you stop now.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on October 12, 2026, 03:37:46 PMThe reason we were cooking in the first half is we essentially flipped the script by doing, pretty successfully, what we aren't very good at: deep shots down the field into one on one coverage because the defense wasn't scheming that.

Is it sustainable or even repeatable? Not sure. Probably not.

It will help as long as Zach is in because now D's have to scheme more honestly.  They can't just play the run and short/mid game anymore.  This opens the run/short/mid up for us.  This is more important that some might think.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on October 12, 2026, 03:37:46 PMBut it may help you cost out whether Brady is worth the gold bricks we pay him if one of our best offensive outputs of the year was basically deploying him as decoy.

If they fully respect him every run fake, then yes it may be worth it, even if he only ever gets 3 per actual run.  Why?  Because it freezes the LBs for an extra second -- in most cases 2 or 3 of the 3 -- as well as influence the FS and sometimes a DB or 2.  To maintain that though you need Brady to bust some, or get closer to a 6-7 avg -- especially on the off time the D decides to not honor the run fake.  If they start to ease up on honoring Brady, and Brady can't make them pay, then teams will start ignoring him, and THEN he becomes an overpriced piece.

But for now, the good thing about Brady is teams do believe his press clippings.  They do believe the hype.

It's hype? He's leading the league and has a 6.1 yard average. He gets that 6.1 with very few long gainers to skew it too. I think he's earned his respect. I forget the stat exactly but when Brady gets 100 we win a LOT. Of course teams are going to key on him.

Should teams be as scared of Brady as Rankin or Horvath? Those guys will destroy your game much faster if you don't blanket cover them.

Brady basically never rips a big one for a td. Those other guys do all the time.

The hype is you need to protect against Brady just as much. And that's a good thing, you could argue it won us the CGY game. But is it really required that much?

Maybe it is. If a team did loosen up on Brady then I'm sure Condell would be quick to switch to run run run and 6.1 every carry.

I will note as an aside that Brady is almost never a good fantasy choice. Those other guys will get you double or triple Brady for the same price. You don't get fantasy points for decoy and blocking duty!

He doesn't destroy it as fast, yes. But he will wear you down and kill you slowly just the same.

Brady can dominate a game but teams can also load the LOS and take him out of the game if they choose. Whether that causes them other problems depends on which team we are playing.

Brady has been good this year and if we are to make a move in the standings or win a playoff game it will be at least partially on his back.

Bombs and Brady will set us free.

Blue In BC

We're expecting to lose Smith for this game or longer. Fingers are crossed he might not have caused further injury.

If we lose him, we also lose his work on ST's. Novak is the only Canadian left on the PR. A couple of Canadians on the 6 game haven't practised yet, so he seems to be the only choice to add. Is there someone on the current AR that isn't already on ST's that might add that to his role? Novak would then just be additional depth.

Griffin would take more roles at SAM but we'd still miss Smith on defence.

Derek Taylor:

Day 1 of Bombers practice ahead of Edmonton:

RB Brady Oliveira
REC Nic Demski and Tim White here but not dressed. LT Stanley Bryant not participating.
And I haven't seen Dorian Singer early on.

No Jaylen Smith. The DB suffered an injury in the second half on Saturday. Michael Griffin is in that spot.

Blue In BC

I think all of our receivers and Brady take a lot of hits so that's not a surprise. There is no doubt any of those will be able to play.

OTOH, Smith probably can't play but for how long is a TDB.

I forgot we moved Gatkouth to the reserve so he's likely the player that comes back on. He does play somewhat on ST's and gets some reps on defence. That makes him a better choice than Novak at the moment.

Not great news

Singer makes me worry, rest will be fine but Smith will need recovery time

Time for Griffin to shine, very luck to have this depth at LB

Pretty sure Smith is gone for the season and maybe longer, he recognized something really bad happened and reacted emotionally over it. In his place Kyrie played a lot more and looked good doing so.

Agree, nice to know Wilson had a good game.  Our depth here is a key contributor to our success and continuity.

We have 8 players on the IR list that are listed as " DNP". The usual list for the most part. Singer is new to that notation. I'd still be surprised if he doesn't play. His issue is illness so yes that could go either way. Cold or flu probably.

Smith was noted as as hip problem which is what caused him to miss 2 games. So it may not be a season ending injury. I doubt he practises this week to allow maximum time to heal. It's 50 / 50 whether we see him this week. Hopefully it's not longer.
