Blue In BC

Quote from: TBURGESS on August 18, 2024, 02:53:26 PMTiming doesn't come from the meetings. It comes from practice.

I doubt that Rourke will be the Rourke of old this week, but that's not cuz of missing meetings or not knowing the offence.

Understanding the game plan comes from meetings. How many times do I have to say timing issues takes more than 3 practices? He's barely past the stage of introducing himself to new teammates.

You learn the game plan and playbook from meetings. Watching and discussing game film. What works best under what situation is not something you learn by just reading the play book.

I think it's a given that Rourke will have some miscues, hopefully many.
But it's also a given he will give the team a bump in confidence.

Absolutely. I'd rather have been playing against Dolegala. At this point I'm wondering about how healthy several of their players are at this point. They had a long list of non or low participation at practice on both sides of the ball.

Lions D line three of them, under 260.

should be able to open some nice holes for Brady.

Please do not give up on the run Buckzach.

For sure - please don't abandon the run.  BO is the best Bomber - stay with it and we will have success

Throw Long Bannatyne

Not too worried about Rourke, the D should be able to handle him.  More interested to see which version of the Bomber's offence shows up, the butt kickers that light it up or the sad sacks that can't score a TD.

I AM worried about Rourke. He's an unknown quantity until we see him but the potential is there.

"Lions head coach Rick Campbell said Rourke has looked good and
understands the offence, which has only changed slightly since the
26-year-old left B.C. following a stellar 2022 campaign"

Add in the 3 receivers still there that he has worked with before.

Quote from: Jesse on August 18, 2024, 02:44:04 PMHe's a good QB. I'm not going to be surprised if he looks good.

Like I said before, there are just some extra layers of difficulty for him that he wouldn't normally have if he'd been on the team since that start.

Same offence is conceptual. It's not going to be the same plays, calls, receivers, protections as his last time around. Not to mentioned he's had to learn 4 different offences since the last time he played in B.C.
Agree. In his interview with Farhan he refers to us as a "very good football team" and he still hurts from that WDF game we beat him in. He looks at us as unfinished business and he is motivated to beat us. He also says there should be reduced expectations as it has been a while since he played CFL ball.
Go Bombers!

Rourke gives the Lions a massive boost in confidence that they can beat the bombers vs going in with dolegala. Bombers on the other hand are playing for their playoff lives. West division is only 2 wins from top to bottom teams. Very important game for both teams

Any SCTV reference gets a +1 from me!  Best comedy show ever, for you young'ns to go look up.  (I still miss Candy...)

I think he gave them a bump for 2 series and then he made them even more demoralized!!  He was supposed to be their savior!  Being let down by your savior is never "bumping".

After the BC INT failed to get them anything they were completely done.  The whole team quit.

From a Rider fan's attempt to be unbiased... Winnipeg's secondary is phenomenal. Throwing boundary side leaves you with Deatrick Nichols, and Field side leaves you with Tyrell Ford.

Rourke looked so uncomfortable tonight for many reasons, and probably shouldn't have been dressed let alone starting.

He will inevitably get better as the season goes on, but still full marks to the Winnipeg D for making him uncomfortable.
