It's Payback for 2023

Remember early 2023 when we would magically pull out a win in every close game, or even games we were solidly losing?  The papers and the lay-fan buzz were all like "we don't deserve all these wins".

We went to the Bank Of Football and overdrew our account.

2024 is payback.  We're paying back those "stolen" wins... plus interest.  How many freebie wins did we steal in '23?  Ya, we'll probably have that many close losses, plus more, in '24.

Are we there yet?  Can we legit start winning now?  Please?  Much more of this and playoffs are impossible due to simple math.

SSK in '24 is us in '23.  They are the ones getting all the close/luck wins.  (Enjoy it while you can greenies!)

It's all ebbs and flows.  Probably follows some sort of poisson distribution.

There's some luck involved (we could easily have 2 more wins this year) but it's mostly not.

We were a team on the rise in 2019. In 2021 and 2022 we were utterly dominant. In 2023, the core was aging and we were regressing back to the mean but still a better football team than the one we were playing nearly every game, even if it was not so pronounced. This year we're significantly below that.

We went up, we peaked, and now we're on the other side of the bubble.  Time to do it again.

In reality we are 2-6. Nobody cares how we got there, we just need to be better. Every game is winnable and losable.

There's some luck involved (we could easily have 2 more wins this year) but it's mostly not.

I think there is only one game we truly lost (had no hope in) this season: week 1 vs MTL.

Maybe you could add the BC game too... maybe.  I think we were hanging in that one until the "2024 oopsies" started happening.

All of the other games just needed 1-3 things go our way instead of anti-our way.  If this was 2023-luck, we'd probably be 6-2.  Seriously.  And if the injury bug had stayed away, we are probably 7-1.  Though then we'd probably have our usual trap-game loss to some basement team at the least expected moment...
