Good- sounding like a broken record but Olivera again
-defense not giving up a TD
      -Castillo perfect again
-Wilson had his best game since returning from injury
Bad- time count late in the game
-special teams coverage Miller and Gauthier can't return soon enough
     -no offensive TDs
Ugly-if there is such a thing as an ugly win this was it
-poor attendance both Alberta teams struggling at the gate

That whole sequence was handled badly and could have cost them the game.  O'Shea can't allow that to happen in critical moments, he had a timeout left and should have used it.

Tough getting hang time when the wind is howling.....but otherwise yeah, Sheean is more of a "special effects" kicker.

I thought he was supposed to have a multitude of kicks, one for every situation. The slow release one I have seen enough of now. Starting to wonder if the coverage team knows where the ball is going as he tries to fool the returner.

MOS was asked after the game why he didn't challenge it and his replay was he can't challenge the call...,then he said "now you've got me thinking" followed up with you can't challenge that call....is that correct?   Likely MOS is correct and we're not....

I checked and UR is NOT in the list of coach challengeable flags.  However, it clearly says Command can auto-review any flag, and they should have stepped in to correct that nonsense.

Maybe a called UR should be challengeable next season... It's like DPI, it can throw the whole game.

Ya, I noticed that too.  On the one where he gets huge yards down the rail we look like we're covering the whole field!  Then there's only half the guys on the rail side to try to stop him.  I wonder if some of his trick punts are going awry.

He did use a ton of different kick techniques last night, and it was interesting to watch them.  One looked like it was hitting the ground before he kicked it!  It was very bizarre, but it seems to work mostly ok.  If MOS/Boudreau deem it's a not-enough-air problem vs a coverage problem, they'll make corrections.

at times he seems to take an extra step as well. no doubt scouted by the stamps

The ?rail side?. I can only assume what you mean?
And yes this kicker has me also asking?:where in the hell is this punt going.
At least we don?t have Leggio trying:)

It?s all about the W.  We got it.

Dru Brown is doing fine, but for our D stopping Calgary and putting up a major or we lose.

That said it is a different team without Collaros.

Lots of nervous nellies.  That said OShea is doing what he can and is capable of ?..did I mention the W?

It was a thing of beauty- might have won the game for us...no confidence in our punt coverage at that point in the game, they probably are within FG range instantly if we punt.
MOS said as much that that was the game right there.....if they punted from their goal line Calgary has immediate field position for a FG with just over a minute's left.    Had to go for it really and luckily, Prukop came through this time.
That there was the old ball game and we snuck out of Calgary with 2 points.   Hopefully the Bombers play better against the Als who are on a bit of a roll....and our last two games we looked very beatable for large segments of each game.

Not sure what the difference is between "roughing the quarterback" and "unecessary roughness" on other players.  Both are "roughness" and both have the potential of injuring a player.  The former is challenge-able and the latter isn't challenge-able I believe.

Yes, 100% correct.  Many won't like the answer... it's because all players except for QBs are "expendable".  It's the little sad "dirty truth" of our sport: Fans want to see the big hit and the blow ups and smash-mouth.  It's part of what makes football football.

If they protected all players like QBs in the pocket, it wouldn't be tackle football anymore and it'd lose its appeal for many fans.

I saw huge hits in the BC@SSK game tonight, straight H2H hits, shoulders to heads, etc, that all went un-flagged because a) no one cares and they are never called penalties (except when it's Begelton haha), b) fans love it, c) the players hit were "expendable" (not QBs), and d) the hit guys didn't limp up or writhe (their mistake, haha).

However, I think CFL/NFL are doing a good job of balancing this fine line between dangerous and boring.  It's not an easy task!  They are protecting their most valuable and rare asset: QBs; while letting most of the other players play.  Just look at the head hits a RB takes in one game... as long as you don't spear (nearly leave your feet) a RB you never get flagged for anything.

There's another bonus, I just realized, to MOS's decision: if they TOD the ball on 3rd, there's so much clock still that you either get 2&out&FG or they walk right in for TD, and there's decent clock left for you to counter with your own hurry-up O series.

If it's 30s left and we need a FG and we can start ~35yl, then I'd put good money on us being able to get in FG range.  Dru seems to thrive in that setup, and Zach does it in his sleep.

In other words, you go for the 95% sneak, but if you fail all hope isn't lost.  I think if you kick it you're losing 80% of the time to a decent team with a good returner and an O that's shown the ability to move the ball 20 yards and a K who never misses under 43 yards.
