Winnipeg Blue Bombers, EIC partner to honour Orange Shirt Day

WINNIPEG, MB., September 25, 2026 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, in partnership with Exchange Income Corporation (EIC) as well as Qualico as the game sponsor, and Penn-co Construction and Recycle Everywhere as Supporting Partners, are set to honour Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by hosting over 1,200 members of the Indigenous community at today's home game against the Argonauts.

"Reconciliation isn't a single day on the calendar. It's a commitment we carry every day as an organization," said Wade Miller, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Football Club. "When our players wear orange in warmup and the star blanket on their helmets during today's game, we want every fan in the stadium to understand why. We are all thankful to Exchange Income Corporation and our partners for helping us welcome members of the Indigenous community and support the work WASAC does for Indigenous youth right here in Winnipeg."

Orange jerseys will be worn for pre-game warmup to recognize Orange Shirt Day and will be made available for an online auction, with funds raised once again donated to Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre (WASAC).

WASAC helps to remove barriers for thousands of children annually and is Canada's largest employer for Indigenous children and youth. The Blue Bombers will also have the star blanket logo that was created for the team in 2021 on their helmets for the game.

"This initiative began in Winnipeg in 2017, when 40 youth from Northern communities were invited to attend a Bomber game.  We were proud to grow participation to more than 1,000 Indigenous guests by 2021.  Now, in the sixth year of the expanded program, we are delighted to see it reach communities across the country, involving three CFL teams and welcoming more than 1,800 Indigenous guests and volunteers from coast to coast to coast.  This remarkable undertaking would not be possible without the support and collaboration of our CFL partners, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, as well as the many Indigenous organizations we are proud to work alongside.  Together, they help create meaningful experiences and lasting memories for youth and families.  Seeing a child's face light up as they meet a professional football player for the first time, walk into a stadium in awe, or experience their first hotel stay is a powerful reminder of the impact this program has," said Mike Pyle, CEO of EIC.  "Those moments of excitement, inspiration, and connection are what make this initiative so meaningful.

Starting today until October 2nd, fans can bid on the orange jerseys being worn pre-game at bluebombers.com/orange-jersey.
