Well, this finally takes the cake.  I'm working on my fantasy and pickems on CFL Gamezone and with 8 minutes left before the official 18:00 game start tonight they mark the game as having started!!  For all the bugs and mistakes they've had this year, this is a first... and the worst.

So I'm unable to pick any HAM or CGY player or team for any of the gamezone categories.  In a week with only 3 games, that really limits options.

Someone screwed up big time.  Why can't they hire barbk to be on top of these things so stuff gets done properly?

All year long Blitz Picks has randomly cut off the ability to pick certain teams even a day before a game start.  No rhyme or reason at all, just random bugs.  Foxhound has noted this before.

It's really frustrating how badly they've broken these previously-fun activities.

I fully agree! Blitz Picks was a really fun game rivalling even Fantasy in 2022 and 2023. I really looked forward to every week. Ten challenging questions dealing with the upcoming week's games. If you knew the CFL and were logical/shrewd, you'd have an increasing edge over the season.

But then last year the not-so geniuses running the Blitz Picks game made it team specific with five team specific questions. That had two deleterious effects:

1) Rather than just ten really good questions, someone at Not-So Genius Sports had to write thirty to forty questions per week which of course ended up being not as good overall. It's tough to maintain quality if the number of questions is being quadrupled. And the increased workload resulted in the questions not being posted on a regular, timely basis. It was no longer the case that since it's Tuesday evening Blitz Picks is up. Moreover ridiculous errors also cropped up. One week I was shut out of making my Blitz Picks for the Bombers with over two hours left before game time!

2) Making the game team specific took the edge away from stats driven nation-wide students of the game, e.g. me! It gave the edge to team fanboys who lived-and-died with one team and could tune in to every local newspaper and radio report.

And yes, I roasted Genius Sports by email for wrecking an excellent game I once enjoyed. I'm not playing Blitz Picks this year.

Blitz picks has "closed the gates" like 5-8 hours before a game before.  I got shafted on a WPG game too.  I don't know why they can't just automate the cutoff time like they seem to do fantasy (absent that one screwup instance I outline above).

Hey Foxhound, question: Is the idea of blitzpicks is you choose 1 team to answer the questions for each week, or are you supposed to click on each team and answer all the questions?

I tried answering more than just WPG once but it appeared to then cancel my picks from the other team I answered first?

P.S. Blitzpicks seems to be some tie-in to the gambling, probably to get you used to it so you'll go want to gamble.  The numbers they pick for the over/unders, yards, etc, all seem to match the numbers they are putting on the gambling sites like playnow.

The former. Their idea is for participants to pick a team and stay with it.

Well, I see your picks & fantasy choices and I can tell you you'd almost certainly make money betting on the CFL.  There's a knowledge gap they are betting on, and their computers don't have all the minute details we do about, say, the WFC.

I dabble for fun, mostly on WPG games, and have consistently won 5X my tiny ante over each season.  And I'm pretty sure you're better at this stuff than me!

Hey, I just checked and I think fantasy D's don't get points for ToD?  If so, that's ridiculous.  It's hard enough as it is to get a D that pays off at least a point a $thou.  Why not give points for sneak stops and gamble stops?
