Cody gives the team some confidence and hope - you can tell they are deflated when Ford throws inaccurate pass after pass including "hospital" balls.  He will get them moving the ball and believing in themselves.  the magic plays Ford can do are exciting but not sustainable.  Let Cody run the team for 3 games and you will see a difference - not because he has a rifle of an arm but he knows how to play the QB position.

Kurleigh Gittens Jr. is wasting away in Edmonton, went from being a top Natl. receiver to invisible, I could see him looking for a new home in the off-season.

And when Cody comes in and fails worse the Ford?  Then the team has zero hope at all.  At least with Ford you hope he can get better.  Cody ain't getting any better.  And we've seen how Cody cannot play with a substandard OL.

I think Cody will do worse because he provides virtually no running threat.  So all the people involved in contain right now can just blitz the pocket.

The best solution may be to have a year of "QB tryouts" of every spare QB you can get your hands on.  When the next Alexander appears, there's your man.

And in PS people thought EDM was going to the cup with Ford.  Hahahahaha.  I laughed then.  I'm laughing now.

It's hard to fail as hard as Ford did last week.  I think the rest of us are fairly confident that Cody will throw for more than 40 yards in three quarters.

Cody can be frustrating but he usually has some good games in him over the course of a season ie.  See the 2023 Grey Cup. 

Ford may actually have a good game in him next week though as the last time he started against Saskatchewan he won while putting together  some decent drives.  He also won against the Riders in 2023 with less impressive numbers.

Cody gives them a passing game, Ford doesn't. 33 yds of passing through 3 1/2 quarters is beyond brutal.

And who cares if Cody doesn't run as well as Ford, he can scramble and make plays. Seems to me Tom Brady wasn't much of a runner either...how did he do in his career?? With Cody, they can be competitive, with Ford, its over before it even begins.

In 2023 Cody had arguably the best or 2nd best OL.  Cody always is decent behind a good OL.  When SSK had a good OL Cody took them to WDFs.  Then SSK had a garbage OL and Cody stunk out the joint and they lost tons of STH and cut him in FA.

Cody is like a better and more mobile Maier.  Or heck, even Arbuckle.  Give him the best team that season and he might win you a cup.  But anything less, or a stinky OL, and forget it.

I think EDM's OL is so bad right now that Ford is still the better choice than Cody.  Fix the OL, then you can put Cody in.  Chungh is still out there.  Rice.  But they spent all their money on the front 7.  Boohoo Hervey.

Ford has had time in the pocket and just couldn't make an accurate throw - Cody can do that and read a defence much better - is he the best QB in the CFL??  Not a chance but is he better than Ford in 3 significant aspects (reading a D, throwing accuracy and leadership) - Yes he is...Gittens can make some plays - get the ball reasonably close to him and he produce - Cody can do that.

But you're assuming "all things being equal".  Did Ford have more time in the pocket because they needed 2 edge contains and a spy?  Would Cody allow those 3 extra guys to be pass rushers?

My point is, the pocket Ford gets may not be the pocket Cody gets.  And EDM's OL is baaaaaad.
