I think they're going to put him on some kind of IR for the year. I could see him spend at least a couple of years  on the PR.
My wife is amazing!

IR would be an expensive choice. PR more likely and less expensive. Even the NFL makes business decisions.

However they designate it - I don't know all the codes NFL has available to them. I think they are going to let him heal, because he's not expected to be medically cleared for training camp, and then let him develop for a bit. I don't expect a quick decision on him.

Can you PR an injured player?  It sounds like he's going to miss most if not all the season with an ACL repair, having played the whole season with it torn.

He sounds like a good fit for the 49ers, so I don't think they will give up on him quickly.  Just where they will put him until he can play is the question.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Hmmmm. Well it's an injury sustained in college so there must be some provision to cover that. I can't see him being paid a full salary paid on IR. Technically they could cut him tomorrow since he was just drafted.

I wasn't aware he was likely to miss all or most of this season. That explains the low draft pick I suppose and makes drafting him in the CFL a higher risk. He might not be available until 2027 or beyond.

ACL isn't a career ender anymore, as long as they can rehab from it.  He also had hand surgery.  Is this a symptom or a co-incedence?

He is still going to be drafted in the CFL draft, but I can't see it being early... 3rd round maybe...

He'll recover. It's just a matter of when and where they park him in the meantime.
