Well, that's a sucky outcome, but pretty much expected.  EDM already demoralized knowing playoffs were just a dream.  Even Gino screwing up... not a good look.  Gittens had a chance to allow them to win the game just by securing the ball.  Give Demski a call, he'll set you straight.

We must now keep the gas fully on.  It is critical we lock up 1st.  SSK has an easier schedule.  BC has been sucking, and they play in hostile SSK, so can't count on them to help us.

It would be nice to get more weeks off and more rest, so I don't want to be forced to count on us beating MTL in MTL.  SSK is still fully in the hunt for 1st and we don't want them getting a glimmer of hope.  All of their fans have resigned themselves to being 2nd or 3rd, so let's keep it that way.

On the bright side, SSK was looking really bad and EDM could have easily won had they not been a badly coached team.  We're clearly the far better team when compared to the playoff rivals SSK & BC.

There's a good chance Mtl rests some guys the last game IMO. Also a good chance we can win this week too. We have the tiebreaker with BC. We definitely shouldn't let up but I'm feeling pretty good about us hosting the West final right now *knocks on wood*

Hopefully the Riders have an off game this week and just put it to rest

Quote from: dd on October 06, 2024, 02:24:29 AMFace it, the Elks are a gong show. Confusion is their middle name, too many men penalties indicate teams that are really in bad shape organization wise. They really need to get their crap together and Jackson isn't the one to lead them next season,he's clueless.

True enough, imagine having a talented QB like Tre Ford at your disposal and finding no way to make use of his talent in a do or die situation like tonight.  Using the combo of Ford and MBT in the same game could have confused the Riders enough to make a difference in the outcome. Jackson is too old school, they need some new blood to bring in new ideas to work with the talent they have in house. Sincerely hope the Elks get back on track next season and make the playoffs, for the good of the franchise and the league.

Quote from: J5V on October 06, 2024, 02:33:54 AMRight. Then the Elks got screwed on the Corey Mace challenge for PI where the Sask receivers ran what looked like a pick on the Elk defender. JJ had wasted his challenge flag earlier and it may have cost his team the game.
I also wondered about a pick on that play. Stearns seems to hold up and let Emilus go by, then "accidentally" runs right into Jackson.

It's a set play and the Riders have gotten away with this crap before. They did it against us too in Regina and the officials bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Ya, just like the mugging play.  This was a mugging too, but an elaborate mugging-pick that the D had zero chance of avoiding.

Need to watch for that if we face them in the playoffs.  The solution if they're crossing is maybe the D's trade guys instead of getting picked.

What annoys me is that the Command Centre looked at it and called PI instead of a pick when the Sask receiver clearly runs into the DB, not the other way around. What makes it so obvious is the way Trevor Harris throws the ball into the area. He is obviously not throwing to a receiver. Just throws to the ground in the area and immediately starts ******** at the officials. So friggin obvious.
Go Bombers!

Riders have pulled that stunt of running into the db to get a call late in games MANY TIMES this year. Some greasy stuff that the officials ALWAYS get sucked into calling!  Believe we had a thread on this a few games ago. Would be a called a PICK play or similar in prior days.

We reached the same conclusion previously, it's a play Mace learned from Dickenson when he coached in Cgy.

They really need to better define the "stand your ground" rule regarding DBs and these muggings.  DBs are supposed to be entitled to their "space".  The problem is standing in their space can still impede a R intent on crashing into him for flags.

So, a DB can't "take a charge" in the way a basketball defender would?
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

The tell is these plays always happen late in games in critical situations for some reason.
