If you only stream, you buy a TSN subscription to watch CFL. If the game is not on that app, then streamers won't have access to it. If they are in a city that has CTV over the air, then they need a TV antenna

Quote from: blue_gold_84 on July 26, 2024, 01:19:38 PMIn 2024? I'll pass. I paid for TSN+ to watch the CFL and it's preposterous, albeit unsurprising, to get hosed by Bell like this while giving CTV the only feed.

You must be a younger generation than me. I still remember having only 3-4 over the air channels in the late 60's- all 70's to early 80's in the countryside outside of Winnipeg. WE ALL SURVIVED VERY NICELY! ;)

NO MOBILE phones. NO USELESS & EXTREMELY BORING "UNREALITY" tv shows. REAL ACTORS. TRUE BLOCKBUSTERS and not these schlock worn out Marvel movies already with 1 million characters in them!! ENOUGH! So sick of anything Marvel now (or even DC) outside some of the streaming series where they can build a character arc. Rumours of a new AVENGERS movie...think I will pass on it at the theatre and not download it either. NO TONY STARK? NO SCARLETT JOHANSEN?! FORGET IT! ;)

Are they hoping to implement the NHL model in the future where you need to subscribe to 3 different networks to watch all your team's games? Hopefully the ratings are in the toilet for the BB. Who the hell still has cable?

AS MENTIONED BEFORE IN OTHER THREADS.....CTV OWNS TSN! CTV can probably reach a wider audience than TSN as NOT streaming or cable only required for them.

MILLIONS of PEOPLE STILL HAVE CABLE...you are the one out of the loop here bud. I guess you forgot there is people over 50+ watching the CFL still and not as savvy with streaming as youngsters are. I know all of it as work in I.T. so don't peddle some nonsense to me.

For me the logistics of streaming only don't add up right now. Might depend on your market, but not in Calgary. BASIC Telus cable package + FULL TSN/SPORTSNET channels suits my needs perfectly for a low monthly cost with an internet bundle for more discounts. PVR and WIFI/ETHERNET modem ALL INCLUSIVE since day one. Even got a 42" HD tv when I renewed for 2 more years a few years ago with Telus. What internet provider gives you that kind of deal? Check it out, you may realize you are missing on some bargains for home entertainment and internet. Winnipeg not as big as Calgary so maybe less options, but NEVER assume your way is the ONLY way.

monopolies. great stuff.

I assume you mean you get the streaming TSN subscription, not the cable TSN add-on subscription.

"Exclusive to CTV only" should mean exclusive to CTV only.  That would mean that it shouldn't be on TSN+ for-pay streaming.  No one has said definitively yet, though.  (Without "cheating" with an out-of-country VPN.)

It's funny, CFL/TSN is keen to sell their streaming options to make it easy and affordable for "the kidz these dayz" yet they'll (maybe) shoot themselves in the foot by denying the "marquee" games to their subscribers?  This is lunacy.

My question is: Does CTV itself have a for-pay (or even free-with-ads) streaming option?  Surely they do?  If it's cheap enough, I guess that's an option for the 3 months these CTV-only games run?

Just to be clear TSN+ carries no CFL games, CFL+ carries most games but requires a VPN to watch. TSN streaming service is called TSN Direct.

Argh!  I really hate this streaming world.  I know people who "cut the cord" just to go and subscribe to 5 different streams and end up paying more than my Shaw bill!

So much easier when everyone would just say "ya the game is always on channel 15".

I have a feeling come Banjo Bowl day a LOT of people are going to be VERY angry when they tune in at 3pm or whatever and nothing is there...  It's stuff like that that makes totally honest people call up their "tech slash pirate friend" saying "send me the url of the torrent".  How this is good for the CFL is beyond me.

I cut the cord years ago and haven't missed 'regular' TV. Way cheaper too.

I'm one of the few who still pay for the full package cable, and Netflix, Prime, Disney etc....
