Stats Junkie

As I have been doing for several years now, I tracked the individual & team penalties in the CFL this season.

I used the post games stats packages as a starting point and added details based on notes that I took during games. I added in penalties that were announced on the field but did not make the stats packages for one reason or another. I assigned penalties to individual players as best as I could, based on video, when no player was assigned. I also had the opportunity to take information directly from the official penalty cards on a couple of occasions.

There are still a number of penalties that I could not assign to an individual because no player was listed in the stats, the announcement was made while TSN was at commercial or no audible announcement was made in stadium.

Winnipeg appears to be a very disciplined team.  Credit to both players and coaching staff.

Sask surprises me. I thought they would be much higher as a team.

Winnipeg jumps off the page with fewest dead ball fouls. 20 less than the next team.

BC's penalties may come back and haunt them this week?

Ya, kudos to WPG.  That's culture, coaching and players policing each other.

MTL probably read your post  :D  as they have pulled LeStage for the ESF, which is a bit of a surprise.

Of course, to the Riderfans.com people this is just further proof that the Bombers have the league in their pocket and they deliberately never call penalties against the Bombers who are the dirtiest team in the history of all sports and they hold on every play and have since at least 1930 and Mike O'Shea is the dirtiest player that ever played and Brady Oliveira is on performance-enhancing drugs because Andrew Harris and Mosaic Stadium is nicer and the Banjo Bowl is offensive and wah! they've got indoor plumbing...

So there is that.

Ya it's quite laughable that they moan about Brady yet they never say boo about Oullette who's arms and chest are literally double or triple that of Brady...  It's like they forgot that players are randomly tested for PEDs or something.

Chris Edwards earned another 3 game suspension which will be applied in 2024 if he's still in the league. He's scheduled to be a free agent in February.
