Hansen makes the roster without GLB status.  We are paying him a lot more than a DI to get him on our roster.  I am sure if they had made the adjust ment I suggested rather than open up the salary level for GLB, Hansen is still on out roster.

No way does Hansen make the roster at $90k+ and IMP status.  No way, no how.  I doubt he makes it as $90k NAT status either.

ST aren't valuable, from a money / retention standpoint.  Only league-best guys like Miller can earn above their pay grade and not have many O or D snaps.  Everyone else gets a fairly similar graduated pay bump for seniority, but that's it.

So that leaves Hansen's production on D to justify his value over an IMP or NAT.  Kongbo was better than Hansen in '19 on D.  Much better.  Hansen is ok at spelling but hasn't gotten much better.  He's good with contain and causing confusion on cheetah, but he's not the guy tasked with making the sack or whatever.  And he doesn't have the speed Kongbo had to chase guys down from behind.

I haven't seen enough of Haba to really grade him yet, but I'm pretty sure if it's Haba @ELC vs Hansen @$90k and no GLOB status, they are taking Haba and letting Hansen walk.  Only the GLOB requirement allows Hansen to look attractive, because he is, for a GLOB.

I think Hansen is more valuable than Jackson

Hmm.  Hansen as an IMP @$90k vs Jackson as an IMP @ELC... you may be right, but it's not by much!!  I think Hansen has reached his ceiling.  The jury's still out on Jackson (though since he's geriatric we should know soon).

You seriously think Hansen would not get the contract he is earning right now without his GLB status?  he is a high chaacter, high motor ST demon that can take reps at DE.

How many times do I have to say I don't think he does without the Global status? I like Hansen but he's protected by that status and being possibly the best global player aside from kickers.

Like I said, go ahead and name a global starter that isn't one of the kickers. It would be interesting to see how long each global in the CFL has been in the league. It seems more like musical chairs each season after the draft and teams looking for kickers as their best option.

I thought the GLOB count on the AR and PR were mandated by the league.  If they weren't who would AR and PR them??  No, you must be missing something.  There must be a minimum (and maybe maximum).  Someone needs to dig up the rules.  I don't think it's in the rulebook, so I don't know where to find this info.  CFL always makes it so hard.

I thought it was mandated 2 dressed, with an extra on PR.  I'm nearly positive you can't just say you'll only dress 1 GLOB and then dress a NAT in the other spot.  That can't possibly be true as who wouldn't take an extra ELC/DP NAT over a GLOB??

Go ahead and check CFL rosters. A 3rd PR spot was added for Global players and most teams seem to use that option. With such a small pool, you need some options when your # 1 gets injured.

The number of imports is very specific so it would always be another Canadian added in place of that 2nd global on the AR.

What is mandated or enforced is a little like the Nationalized American rule in 2023. A slippery slope.

CFL.CA shows Givhan added to AR after being released from PR. That makes no sense and was the only transaction shown.

Potentially an IR move is coming?

Why would they add a player released from the PR to the AR if there is an injury? You'd think Haba or one of the other DL would be added from the current PR. Even if we're just changing one of the DI's ( Jackson ) that would make more sense?

There hasn't been any mention of an injury on the DL but it's possible something happened in practice or that Jeffcoat is still not 100%.

I could see giving Givhan an opportunity in game time if this game wasn't a critical effort to finishing 1st.

Givhan's no longer listed anywhere on the roster, I think he's been cut. The roster list is sketchy, but I don't think they would take him off the PR without adding him somewhere else.

Right, shortly after they signed Deng.  Hoping we get a look at him in the next few games.

Win the next two games, and we could see a lot of backup for the Calgary game.

If we lose the BC game we might see a lot of backups for the last 2 games.  If we are eliminated from hosting WDF then I don't see why you risk any starters in the last 2 meaningless games.  We'll host the WSF at minimum.  And we don't get that final bye BC does, so we could use the pseudo-byes.

If we win vs BC then it's pedal to the metal to win one more, which should be extremely easy, IMHO.
