Do NOT like Coach?s explanation on running up the gutt AGAIN on that infamous 2nd and 7 with 1:28 on the clock. It was the perfect play call not to lose answer than playing to win. He is so concerned with burning 30 seconds off the clock than getting the first down and putting a final nail in the coffin.

Hate that decision.

It appears at that point of the game Osh had very little faith in his exhausted D stopping Crum.  :-\

IMO, we should have went for the 7 yds. Get it and games over. Fail and get your punter to lay one out?just like he did?and then force Crum to beat you in the air by keeping him in the pocket and spying him.
We failed miserably to do either.

Agreed.

Our D was on the field for 21 minutes in the second half and they forced two turnovers on downs inside the red zone!   How often do you see that from a defence and our Offence frittered away any possible momentum for us by turning the ball over twice.   You can only go to the well so many times and yes killing time was important at that stage of the game but not as important as making a first down.   Make a first down there and we win the game instead of punting with a minute left.    The Red Blacks had all the momentum and we played it safe.     Surely he must be able to see that our D was gassed?!   Don't agree with the call at all and it cost us the game.    I'm putting the loss on Buck and our anemic offence and MOS for not going for it on 2nd and 7.    We were out-coached again

Buck has this problem that whenever we have a lead he goes soft and never wants to increase the lead when we are up by 2 TDs

Not buying that.  Buck isn't perfect but he brings a pretty good mix imo.

He learned from Lapo, what do you expect.  ;D

I think the argument that Buck gets too conservative with a lead is a bit of an exaggeration. The long pass to Brady O (63 yards all together), the missed long pass to McCrae (touchdown if it had been 3 inches shorter) and the dropped long bomb to Schoen all came in the second half when we had a big lead.

Our offence was definitely not clicking on all cylinders and our O-line try as they might simply could not move the line of scrimmage.  MOS admitted as much which is why that running play on 2nd and 7 with less than 90 seconds on the clock was even more perplexing.    We had 24 yards rushing up until that play so a quick hitter for 7 yards might have a higher chance of success than a running play.    I mean Zach had 354 yards passing so we were moving the ball at least through the air.   The fact that our much vaunted O-line was totally neutered by Ottawa's D is troubling.

You always here this phrase in football usually by QBs....."we'll take what they give us" and that was the worst output on the ground in over a decade.....so why not go for the pass on 2nd and 7.    We had a 50/50 chance of making this play with the MOP QB back there and likely much less chance of making it on the ground.

Obviously the call was made to eat up more time on the clock and pin them deep....which we did but once again our D had already been on the field for 20 minutes!   I just don't see the logic there and I really think we totally blew it on that call and Ottawa took the momentum and literally shoved the ball down our D's throat!

If we continue to struggle in the next game against an even worse opponent such as the Elks......there will be much suffering in Bomberland.    Hopefully, Kenny Lawler's return will ignite Zach and our sputtering offence however, the best part of the Elks game is their D.....so we need to execute on a high level and put the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes.....show no mercy....win convincingly and enter the bye week on a high note and prepare for BC the following week.

The teams psyche needs a big boost right now and if we stumble yet again, the seeds of doubt will be sown.

Then he should have gone for the 1st down.

Yeah. Some people just re-write the narrative after a loss.

The problem was our inability to sustain offensive drives. The D was on the field too much in the second half and eventually broke when the offence coughed the ball up in addition to not getting first downs.

Yes, our O hung the defence out too dry in the 2nd half, 21 minutes is way too long for the D to be out there. BUT Hall should have put a "spy" on Crum, especially when they got into the red zone.
