There are few 300 lb defensive players.

There are over 20 290lb+ DL rostered on CFL teams today, 14 300lbs+... and I'm not sure about some of the claimed weights.. do you think Fatboi is really 274?

Just about every OL is 300lbs+ and can "roll up" on a tackled player going up the gut...

Putting a guy weighing a buck fifty soaking wet in the middle of that carnage is a recipe for disaster...

Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

The ugly was running your injury prone 157lb league all star returner between the tackles.  Sorry, Buck, but that was a very bad move.  Demski, sure.  Even McCrae, he's an RB used to being in there.  But Grant?  Just no.  Fly sweep, pass in the flat in space, sure.  Use him on O.  But between the tackles?  Ouch.

I rewatched as I'm curious whether "up the gut" was the play call.  I'm pretty sure the idea was to run outside of Bryant, with some of the righter-most OL covering off the wide defenders.  It looked like what transpired was Bryant got free off his DL and farther downfield to block some LB, and Grant would have had to then cut inside of Bryant.

However, it's not really a "up-the-gut" call.  The failure was Ko-man getting put on his butt by his DT assignment.  That freed up that DT to "do the splits" and roll up on Grant.

We've seen this play run with Demski many times.  It doesn't always work.  Teams don't seem to be fooled much by it anymore, there were a ton of CGY D's coming up on this play, and it requires every OL to be 100% on their blocks.
