Those personnel subject to the football operations cap include coaches, general managers, scouts, equipment staff, and video personnel.

Note to those not reading the article: this is the admin/coaches cap, not the player cap.

I expect the player one to increase too, or it's going to be very hard to draw players up here with inflation and poor CAD.

Strange, from the ocean of empty seats this season at many games I would have predicted most teams are going to lose a boatload of money this year.  Expenses are definitely up with inflation and attendance has fallen from pre-pandemic levels, so why would the B.O.G. plan to increase spending, if the money to do so is not there in the first place?  Maybe there is a reason they didn't pursue COVID relief from the Feds. very vigorously at the risk of having to open their books.

a) They're not increasing spending, they're returning it to pre-pandemic levels

b) The coaching cap represents saving money - limiting what teams can spend.

c) Attendance is will necessarily represent less of the overall revenue streams going forward.

d) There is 100% a bunch of shady shenanigans in the CFL books that prevented them from sharing.

e) The money for the cap increase for all teams will come from the "revenue sharing" directly out of WPG and SSK coffers  ;D ;D

The Riders are the ones this will benefit from this the most since they are due for a major house cleaning.

It's a $200,000 increase from $2,300,000 to $2,500,000. If you were to index the current football ops salaries to inflation (6.86%, as of this post) there goes almost the entire "increase". The impact will be very little, if any.

$2.5 mil for 25 staffers...

No one is getting rich unless they wear the GM/HC/DC/VPPD hats all at once...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Rich is relative but successful head coaches, GMs and tenured coordinators do pretty well. Much of the downward pressure is on all the "replaceable" people like positional coaches and supporting staff.
