Glad he got a promotion, he was good here. Other teams manage to find talent too though so I don't think it's a death blow. We do have to find someone else ASAP.  Surely the Bombers have a short list already, you could see this day coming.

Personally I thought McManus would get this type of promotion before Goveia.  That said, if you could keep only one, McManus is my pick.

Nah, he's got a good point.  The final "touch" on the ball comes from the finger tips.  They could have put scissors to the other fingers.  Not enough time, and too much fluster/chaos.  They did get him fixed and back out in a very small amount of time.

Also worth remembering they gave him receiver gloves!  One would think the stickiness of those things would be counterproductive and detrimental for a QB?

Exactly what I was going to say!  Khari = meh.  After Lapo, he's the only retread I wouldn't be totally against, though.

Khari also is not a run-first OC/HC, so he would have the same problem as Maksymic.

Jury is still out on his cerebral-ness, IMHO.  However, he's proven effective at finding the ball and executing his tackles.

Whether he's also being "the QB of the D" or not... hard to say.  The other vets may have been taking on more of that role.

We do have to admit there were many points in the GC when the D was in complete disarray and TOR was taking advantage.  Would that have happened had Biggie been in?  Also hard to say.

But there's nothing stopping Jones from improving, or us working around any limitation.

All that aside, there's no other "new" player I wanted to retain as badly as Jones.  And to ink him for 2 is showing great foresight.  If we need WILL or SAM to be the "QB of the D" for a while, then so be it.  And if anyone can coach up Jones to be even better/smarter, it's MOS (and Younger).

Weird discrepancies.  I went back deep into the Bombers website and looked at every single game day roster as published by the BB media department for the 2024 season, which is where I pulled all this data from.  I will defer to your judgement, though, as I did not attend or have the opportunity to watch every game this season.

I used the depth charts published by the Blue Bombers in 2024 - available on bluebombers.com. I randomly checked a few of the games and the details match the updates that I provided above.

It would be interesting to see a top U Sports guy like Michael Faulds get an interview. Former star Canadian College QB, offensive coordinator advanced to HC. Just won the Vanier Cup.
