Last home game of the season. It's win or your done for the Bombers. Like to see Zach back for this one.
VA looking great. Only a 100% healthy Zach and A game and we win. Will be fun either way. I expect Calgary to put up 30+.
Weather looks good. Will be a hardly contested match likely with so much on the line.
We need to find a way to win regardless of who is healthy enough to play.
Not sure what we can do other than give our best effort, play the best game of the season. If Calgary does the same it could be very tight indeed.
This IS a playoff game. 2027 came early and this is the round 1, west division showdown. A play-in game.
I don't think we lost any players to new injuries. We might get Smith back next week. So the biggest question revolves around Collaros and whether he plays.
I'm not sure any of that matters. The season is on the line and the team that wants it the most and is the most efficient should win.
We're due for one game where more things go our way than don't.
I think the math says which ever team loses is out altogether.
Cal. has a very good D-line, I cant see anyway Condell and our O-line handle them, especially if Zach plays. If Zack plays I would expect a high number of sacks. If we go down and/or abandon the run game that D-line will dominate us.... I just don't see us vs. Cal in any way favorable to us.
This is THE game of the year, season on the line, I am hoping our fans will play a factor in this game, and if Collaros is in, we have a chance. I am not confident whatsoever in Brown, who put up what 10 points against Montreal, 10 points ain't getting it done.
Run Brady and ball control offense, mix in Wilson on the screen pass and DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER, and it will be close.
Adams has been on a good run, which means the bad VA is bound to show up soon, let's hope its this game!! He seems to melt down when the pressure is on.
It doesn't really matter who is playing quarterback unless we can protect better and get some defensive stops.
I doubt we can do either.
It's likely a lopsided loss to end the season. More humble pie for Mike "I don't need to use the modern roster rules" O'Shea.
Calgary has a one day longer week. Our defense is still going to be tired after playing over 40 minutes.
Vaval: 8 tackles. He's done well but at the expense of his returns, has he brought one back since he's done double duty? Special teams is where we always had an advantage previously.
Offense, we are out gunned. If Adams is on his game against a tired defense it could get ugly. Not sure we can score enough to hang in with them.
I still hope for a win, it's possible. The mood reminds me of the 1988 playoff when only 11,000 and change actually attended the game here.
Vaval had eight tackles because he was a yard behind coverage all day.

I get what you are saying but on the other hand a lot of those balls where just thrown perfectly into tiny windows. It shows what an elite QB means in my opinion.

For sure. He also didn't have much help totally get that. On the other hand he's the only one of the field who can make most of those plays the way the defense was called so he can either do it or he can't? He has not exactly leaped off the page at corner this year. For an American playing a position that isn't the hardest on the field, it's been a struggle.
The Stamps are not as bad as they seem. They are a good team and right now, they are better than the Bombers.
Maybe a bad weather day would help the Bombers. VAJ doesn't play well in wet and windy weather. Their running game is not as good. I haven't heard it's going to be that sort of weather for the game, but one can hope.
VAJ is due for a bad VAJ day and we're due for all 3 facets of the team to do well for the entire game. It seems we do somewhat well in the 1st half and then fall asleep in the 2nd half.
Change that and we'd have a chance. There might be some motivation for players playing for next years roster spots earlier than normal. It shouldn't come down to that but somebody has to step up.

Good to know, didn't start my injury thread this week!
Vaval was tested and tested often and did ok considering, he isn't ready or might be better suited as a backup but he was our best option imo to cover the class of the CFL
Will be interesting if gets the start again, I think I would rather develop Texada and let Vaval cook at what he is king at and rotate him as needed
Smith would help with rotation
Anyone notice if Griffin was ok? I didn't notice much either way. I think he needs a couple games to get to full speed.
Pokey has a big wrap on his one hand but didn't impact him, hope he doesn't hurt it again. Some rag on him at times but he is deadly.

Didn't see much of Griffin but we don't have 2 games for him to get up to speed. I'd guess that if Smith returns he'd get most of the reps. Stuart would get bumped back to PR.
Interestingly Hansen made one key play on short yardage. I couldn't tell if he is a better option on ST's than Stuart so that's a variable. Stuart did make an ST but Hansen did not.
Hansen was probably added due to Fletcher, Ceresna, Schemkel and Gatkouth all with injuries being nursed. That had to impact their performance.
I'd give serious thought to adding one of the DL from the PR and taking Texada off the AR. If Vaval is starting then he's not getting many reps anyway. speed on the outside against VAJ might help.
Texada didn't record a stat and I'm not sure if he even saw the field? I'm not dissing him but another DL might be a preferable option than another DB now that Kramdi is back.

Some great points, Hansen did make that big play, yes he is fresh meat and likely helped him get on the AR. I didn't see Texada at all. Seen a lot of Kelly, maybe too much :(
Good point about Smith replacing reps for Griffin
You see Stuart at all on D?
Interesting idea that Texada could come off. Vaval's speed might be needed again. These reps will really help him and determine if he can play both sides of the ball consistently.

I didn't see Stuart on defence and think Kramdi returning eliminated as much need for an extra DB. Even Griffin might have be used in some situations if Smith returns.
The bigger point was maybe fresh legs being added on the DL might be more useful considering injury and health of our DL players.
Pressure on VAJ forces him into mistakes. So I see a higher priority on the DL than the secondary. Roster size and ratio play a big part in that statement.
I like Texada but if he's not going to be starting then maybe this is the week to bump him.

Yes to fresh legs and speed to make VA go bad mode
Agree Griffin wil get rep
Texada likely stays as a decent backup but a good debate if needed or worth it
Tape on Vaval will likley be a factor
I have a hard time thinking we win this game.
Poor coordinator game plans
Bad OL
Suspect secondary
Sub standard DL

Hansen is a beast, he was inserted on short yardage as an immovable object and was key to stopping the Als at least twice in the first half alone. Watch for the Stamps to avoid sneaks to his side of the field.
He also caused havoc on ST as he can't be handled by a single man, he just throws them out of the way. I didn't notice if he took any normal reps on the D-line and don't really see the need to do so. Sounds like he wants to continue playing football and can't see any reason the Bombers wouldn't accommodate his physical dominance for a year or two more.

I see no real need for Hansen in 2027. A 2nd import comes at the cost of a Canadian on the roster. Where was he on that pass by Grant that cost us about 40 yards on that last return?

Hansen wasn't on the AR when Grant made that play.

I don't think you understand the role he plays and why they went out and got him. Maybe Superman could redirect to a cross field lateral and track down the returner but an ordinary human has no chance, it was a perfectly executed play.

I stand corrected, that was the Argo game. I shouldn't have suggested it was his fault even if he was on the AR. It was a cumulative failure starting with preparation and execution leaving a player uncovered.

I understand it perfectly. It's a systemic problem with MOS bringing back older vets that we should be moving on from. Earlier he brought back Oyelolo.
Hansen will be 34 in December. He last played in 2025. He shouldn't be on our roster in 2027.
A global player that only plays ST's ( aside from a kicking role ) is wasted spot at the expense of a Canadian. The Argos added a global player as their 2nd global and he has 23 DT's in his 1st season.
I don't get the fascination with Hansen. We have many ST players that are sitting on the PR or IR. There is no room for him next year.
Our ST's have generally had a good year with the exception of a couple of plays in a couple of games.
Complaining about Hansen when he stuffed a 3rd and short is about as short sited as it gets. He is a beast, he came on the AR and made an immediate impact. Yes he is old. He is also effective on teams and can rotate a bit on the DL.

He's also playing on short yardage which happens 5-10 times per game, go back and watch those 2 plays and tell me who else can fill that role? They already have a roster full of ST players that can't. They reached out across the world to bring him back for good reason and it had nothing to do with nostalgia, he fills a unique role.

Most Bomber Globals other than kickers sat on the PR until they get cut, Hansen has been the exception.

I deleted the game before it was finished. Regardless I disagree. The Argos are a better team than the Bombers and they choose to release him.
If all our Canadian ST players are so bad then is the team that useless in the draft? We haven't had any global players besides Sheehan stick even on our PR. Another drafting failure.
I'd say Smith is the player that would replace him on ST's and on SY plays. We see Lawson, Kramdi and several other players on those downs.

For the Bombers but not around the league.
Argos drafted Soane Toia in the 2nd round of 2025. He's a DL with 26 DT's this season.

Your alternative facts maybe.
Shay was probably scheduled to take over for Gauthier on short yardage. But, to date Shay has 4 STs in 15 games and does get on the field on D.

Cadwallader has been filling Gauthier's role fairly effectively and has made a few good stops from the LB position. Hansen is playing front line, best I can tell he's taken on Jake Thomas's role as the submariner.
Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 07:41:15 PMYour alternative facts maybe.
Nope, Hansen made a big impact and you are questioning the decision about him joining the club, his stuff on 3rd and short, role on short yardage and his physically are the facts that a couple of us are referencing and previously presented. Nice try. No alternative facts were presented by myself or others.
Hansen was great last time he was here and appears to be the same this round. A good example of getting better by a cheap addition. A glue guy that is also ace in the room no doubt. Will set the example for next gen. Takes all types to win.
Sounds like someone needed a new whipping boy to complain about and got caught in the process. That's ok, that's why the forum is here, we talk it out LOL.
Thanks to TLB for the deeper dive on this one, sounds like we are on the same page on him.
Now can he make an impact if on the AR the rest of the way. That's the question and will father time catch up with him? Brady can invite him over for therapies LOL.
Can't wait to see MOS and his weekly long list of Did Not Practice & Questionable.
