Calgary Stampeders make seven roster changes against Redblacks

The Calgary Stampeders have made seven changes to their active roster for Saturday's game against the Ottawa Redblacks. The team released its official depth chart on Friday morning.
Deonta McMahon will start at running back in place of Dedrick Mills, who has been placed on the six-game injured list with a hip injury.
McMahon signed with the Stampeders in February following his release from the Toronto Argonauts. He spent three seasons with the Double Blue, recording 578 rushing yards, 58 receptions for 431 yards, eight punt returns for 61 yards, 33 kickoff returns for 687 yards, and nine touchdowns. This will be his Stampeders debut.
Mills started each of Calgary's first 13 regular-season games, rushing for 943 yards, making 28 catches for 235 yards, and scoring six touchdowns.
Tevin Jones has been activated after spending three weeks on the reserve roster. The 33-year-old has made 23 receptions for 388 yards and four touchdowns this season, his second with the Stampeders. In a corresponding move, Dejon Brissett has been placed on the six-game injured list with an elbow injury.
Reggie Begelton, who made his much-anticipated return to the lineup last week, is listed as a game-time decision. He did not practice on Thursday due to a knee injury.
Brad Ashmore will start at right tackle in place of Bakyne Coly, who has been moved to the practice roster. Ashmore made one previous start this season in a 28-23 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The six-foot-five, 294-pound blocker attended rookie minicamp with the Miami Dolphins after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft. The native of Neptune Beach, Fla. later joined the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks and made 35 starts over multiple seasons with the team.
Zy Alexander has returned from a shoulder injury to start at boundary halfback. The 24-year-old has tallied 32 defensive tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, three pass knockdowns, and one fumble recovery over 10 regular-season games as a rookie. BoPete Keyes, who started in his place last week, has been placed on the practice roster.
Adrian Greene will start at field-side cornerback in place of Benjamin Labrosse, who has been placed on the six-game injured list with a knee injury. Greene has recorded 22 defensive tackles, two pass knockdowns, and one interception this season. The Toronto native was named All-West Division in 2025.
The Stampeders have also activated Canadian defensive lineman Daniel Joseph, Global defensive back Bailey Devine-Scott, and Canadian defensive back Ashton Miller-Melancon to round out their roster.
In corresponding moves, Canadian linebacker Terrence Ganyi and American defensive lineman Savio Frazier have been placed on the practice roster.
This will mark the first of two meetings between the Stampeders and Redblacks this season, the second of which will occur next week in Ottawa.
The Calgary Stampeders (5-8) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (0-12) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, September 19 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Redblacks suffered a narrow loss to the Toronto Argonauts, while the Stampeders got blown out by the Edmonton Elks.
The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa or 770 CHQR in Calgary.

Ottawa Redblacks swap seven starters against Stampeders

The Ottawa Redblacks will have seven new faces in the starting lineup when they face the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday. The team revealed their official depth chart on Friday morning.
Chief among the changes is the loss of starting running back Greg Bell, who has been placed on the six-game injured list after missing practice with an abdominal issue. The one-time East Division all-star joined the Redblacks in free agency this offseason and was made the CFL's highest-paid American running back, but has produced just 316 rushing yards on 82 carries in 11 games this year. He has added 40 receptions for 286 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Veteran Canadian backup Daniel Adeboboye will get the start, after posting 33 carries for 170 yards and two touchdowns this year. Former Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Mario Anderson Jr. will also dress as part of the rotation.
As announced earlier this week, McLeod Bethel-Thompson will make his first start for the Redblacks at quarterback, replacing Jake Maier. The 38-year-old came off the bench last week in relief, completing 16-of-23 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown. Zachary Barlev will also take over at right tackle, with Julian Pearl being moved to the reserve roster.
On the other side of the ball, American defensive end Sione Teuhema has been placed on the six-game injured list with a shoulder injury, while defensive back Travian Blaylock has been ruled out for this week with a hamstring issue.
Amani Bledsoe will get the nod at defensive end, while Global defensive tackle Blessman Ta'ala has been bumped into the start along the interior over Isaiah Mack.
Canadian defensive back Alonzo Addae will move to field halfback to take over for Blaylock, while Scott Hutter will step into his regular safety spot backed up by King Ambers, who has been removed from the starting lineup after recording two interceptions against Toronto. American rookie Kenzel Lawler, the younger brother of All-CFL receiver Kenny Lawler, will make his debut as the starting field cornerback, backed up by fellow newcomer Kahzir Brown.

Row upon row of empty seats at McMahon most completely empty, I doubt there is 5000 in attendance. The Stamps have no plan and no hope of surviving another decade.
Calgary wins. They should win against Ottawa next week too. That is why I think there is a good chance the Bombers will still miss the playoffs especially if they lose at home to Toronto next week.
Man, Ottawa just can't catch a break. Needed to stop them on the third and ten.

I can not help but agree with your thoughts! While a long long time Bomber Fan I do live in Calgary and have always had season tickets since moving here about 25 years ago. I just wanted to support the CFL and the Stamps even though I really do not make it to many games. Last night was an example - had folks over for supper and we watch some of the game off and on. The season ticket sales seem to be at an all time low and the walk up crowd just does not exist.
I am very worried about the future of the franchise given the lack of support that seems to be growing over time.
I have to say, McMahon is a terrible place to attend games. I've gone to a few there including Grey Cups and it is not the best place for games. Great fans who go, kudos to them, but I would not shell out $100 a game to attend in that poor excuse of a stadium. Even Canad Inns was much better.
I was really hoping Ottawa would pull out the win. Dickenson is so smug but really shouldn't be. Cannot stand that guy. Hoping Ottawa gets their first W next week against them.

Dickenson must have a couple as an OC but surprising he doesn't have any as a HC. It seems a long time since Huff was last seen on the sideline.
4Q1:17 The challenged / upheld DPI against CGY. There was no hand pulldown or hip-twist, it was Eberhardt falling on his own. So why did command uphold?? I think it's screening again! Dude's arm is right over his facemask. Though it's less obvious than the last instance of upheld screening recently, I think it's still screening -- and enough of a screen for command to agree.
Who would have ever thought command would start enforcing screening again!!

I met & talked with at length a part owner of the Stamps a couple of years back. There's some big people and big money behind that org. There's also a lot of pride in that city and team. Pretty sure they wouldn't let it die on their watch.
What are they going to do, just fold? Especially with all of this new DAZN money being injected??
What they need to do is work with the city/prov to get a new and exciting stadium built like we did with IGF. Reignite the passion again. A bunch of people got back into Bomber ball because of the cool new stadium. Myself included. And that was when WPG was at its worst in terms of on-field performance!!

Nah, not this time. OTT did everything right, including forcing back CGY out of FG range. No way should short-only Parades made that kick. I bet 9 out of 10 times he misses that kick. By all rights OTT should have won this game.
No, this is more a curse. It's Murhpy's Season. Ya, they often screw it up, but they are also often just right there, and then the other team makes an unbelievable play. It almost doesn't seem fair.

Ya, he inherited a pretty good team and it has steadily regressed since he became HC. VAJ gave them a shot in the arm and they became competitive, but right now, I doubt they beat Ottawa this weekend.
