Moxey, Major, Holm, Nichols... He's not making the roster.

Maybe as an OT.  ;)

Houston was able to ballhawk because of Nichols and Brandon Alexander. Nichols and our sad sack secondary can't help cover up his sorry [bleep]. Hard pass.

I was curious what people thought and they will continue to vote.  I also voted no but one voted yes and I encourage all opinions to be shared and enjoy polls and others do as well.

How quick can he gain 100 to 150 lbs lol.  Anyone on here own a buffet? Pretty funny.

No. Because that's moving backwards. Moxey is already well past his prime, and Houston is even beyond that.

Nothing against him personally, I'm very thankful for all he's done. But db is a very short-lived and unforgiving position.

As we've seen with major, and guys in the past, it's a position for the young.

With how complicated Youngest defense seems to be its not like we have a lot of options, Nichols right now is a worse option.Whether Moxey moves to hb or Houston it may be a better option.Even having the option of moving Holm to safety is something we may need to explore.Standing pat right now is a mistake

We need a safety.

That's probably where the issues with the secondary lie.

Some interesting results here with some suggesting we bring him in.  Always nice to see what folks think.

No! He is no improvement over the poor Nichols and Moxey here.
It would be a waste of league paper work.

Do we really want to bring back a DB who cost us a Grey Cup already?

Was he in coverage on the late pass in the Montreal game?

He gave up the winning TD against Montreal in the last minute of the game. BTW if Parker had made a stop on third down we would have beaten Montreal that year.
Title: Re: Sign Houston?

Ya that loss is on parker, not Houston. Houston was maybe 3 inches from a batdown. Parker was completely lost in space.

And Willie "slipping" on the Cody run the play before.

So many chances to win...

Possibly. Along with 11 other players IIRC.

Rider fans want Houston and maybe Gino in a bad way. They have too many star player injuries right now.

I could see the move, but ssk is already in cap heck right now.

Someone could make a preemptive move for Houston to stop them... But we don't need him.

Does SSK have any cap space?  Are any of their injuries 6 game recoup yet?  Or are they going to need to bring them off early, like Zach?

They either are in cap hell, or ratio hell, or expect players back, otherwise, Lewis would be on the roster.

That's all pure speculation. We don't have any idea when or if players may come off the 6 game IR. They may be taken off early, extended or be finished for the season. How much SMS ends up sheltered is the same issue for every team.

That's no different for the Bombers. Do we know whether Kramdi will come off the 6 game IR early or finish the sting?

Even the suggestion that Lewis would be on the Rider roster in any circumstance is BS and just another conspiracy type discussion.

Rider have 13 players on their 6 game IR. It was mentioned in the last broadcast that at least one player was finished for the season. OTOH, the Lions have 14, so how did the Riders come to the top of a destination?

The reality is we have no idea which team is " SMS hell " but these conversations come up all the time.

Sask is in sms heck because that's what happens to GC winning teams, and most GMs aren't as frugal as KW. Word over there is every FA they didn't let walk got a raise. Some got huge raises.

Now, I'm not saying they are over. But they certainly are tight to the cap. Yes they will get a lot of savings from the 6g. But if you hire Gino, who is clearly waiting for a massive bidding war payday, then IMHO that will put them over.

The problem with Gino, is he'll demand a massive bonus, and I think the only way you justify it is if you really want him as part of your long term plans. While I think many teams who are short recs would want a rental, not sure many want him for 3 years at Kenny type prices.

I think you're over-rating Geno at this point in his carreer. He's 33, and didn't produce for Ottawa. He can still help a team, but I think his massive bonus days are behind him.

Lewis wasn't even the highest paid receiver on the RedBlacks in 2025, he was behind Justin Hardy and paid about the same as Demski and Tim White, which should cause some wonder.

6) Eugene Lewis, Ottawa Redblacks (A)

Hard money: $223,000
Maximum value: $226,000

The seven-year veteran got a $100,000 signing bonus to head to the nation's capital where he'll look to earn his fourth career All-CFL selection. Lewis will also make $94,300 in base salary, $14,700 in housing money, $10,000 in marketing money, and a $4,000 travel allowance. The 31-year-old native of Norristown, Pa. can also earn a $3,000 bonus if he's named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player.

I think your wrong on all counts. We're only at game 9 and a lot can happen before then.

Yeah, I don't think the reason he hasn't signed is that he's trying to decide between too many high offers.

That said, I still think we should sign him.

Yes! I don't like some of our DBs. It looks like they don't want to hit. One of the first things I would do is bring out the bags and see if some of these guys can collide, wrap up and drive.

Some of the guys look like they were born to tackle.

I would bring back Houston.  He missed the ball in the Grey cup, by a few inches. Compared to what we are seeing this year, do some of those DBs deserve to be on the field.?  No

Kelly was horrid vs OTT.  Basically every explosion was him.  He blew it vs BC too.

He's great as 2nd FS in special sets, but totally unprepared to play sole FS, like Kramdi/Allen.  Maybe he'll dev into it, but not this season!  Too soon.

Major Williams needs more respect put on his name.  Leads the league in forced incompletions, 1 pick, and 38DTs halfway through the season.  At 24, he's only going to get better.

Bombers rookie of the year candidate but DB's always lose to flashier positions.

We have 2!!!  They just need to get out of the tub.

How about this?  Because we're so over-ratio (again), we could start Kramdi at FS and have Allen come in as the 2nd FS instead of Kelly.  The brains of Kramdi plus the athleticism of Allen.

Might be what the plan is, if Allen ever gets healthy.

Probably was the plan. But I don't really expect Allen back this year.

I'd definitely be utilizing Vaval way more than we are tho.

We never heard what the injury to Allen was coming out of TC. In theory he'll be a free agent going into 2027 and may not even be ready for TC if we consider re-signing him. Based on all that and the fact he's only played 8 games, I doubt he's part of the 2027 roster.

Using Vaval has the usual mix of pros and cons mentioned in other strings. It's not really clear how good he might be as a DB. He did start some games last year and seemed to have some talent on defence.

We may have to find out if we have an in game injury since we don't have another player to use in the secondary.
