Title: BC @ Winnipeg Pre-Game
Post by: Pigskin on July 26, 2026, 04:04:02 AM
Well, the boys need to get there act together for this game. BC isn't a very good team right now. But, we still have to play much better in all phase of the game. We also have to stop taking indiscipline penalties. The team should be back at practice on Monday. They have some things to work on.

Maybe try not having just 1 practice in the week, eh Mafia??  The margaritas can wait.

My keys to this game are pray pray pray Rourke really is out for a few weeks.  If he magically shows up we're doomed.  Whereas Brice is so bad he might be able to bring that O down to our level.  Or that new skinny kid, or Adams -- they all suck (for now, at least).

I will say it appears our team keeps morale up better when they play like butt than BC does!  Those guys quit in Q2.  However, I would expect Buck to coach them up better for next week.  He might actually raise his voice!

BC lost one and possibly two O lineman in last nights game. The Bombers should pickup Dijon Allen before he goes back to BC. We may need him anyways if Broxton can't go.

Another short week, so I wouldn't expect much.

Walk through will be on Wednesday, a practice on Tuesday. You would hope for one on Monday but I would put it past them to give the extra rest day with the short turn around.

True but BC's week is one day shorter and they have to travel. I expect a win even if we can't play a perfect game.

I have roasted people in the past for saying a must win this early so feel free to roast way but as CJOB mentioned, the schedule gets really hard and sans Nathan this is a free game on the bingo card (joking) but it is a MUST win game.

If BC doesn't get their OL back we blitz the living daylight out of them and Willie will feast like he never has before.  Might even get Thomas back in to give him a few sacks lol.

On offense I believe two things will set us free.  A real deep ball threat and Bbb (often).  Time to let him get the rocks all 4th Q and stomp the throat.  Run it so much we need to spell him.  That's all I want, Xmas in July part deux please.

P.s. those gifts from the roof where awesome sauce.  Seen a guy get a sweatshirt and it fit him like a glove.  Slow clap Wade you are a gem.

I'm just referring to the practice schedule. I  wouldn't expect more than one, perhaps 2, practices.

They wiil need to figure out the secondary if Kramdi cant return. Other than Marshall the rest had problems
Communication was an issue, Nichols and Holm need to step up. Our dline is strong, and linebackers can get the job done

Either way, neither is ready to start . If Rourke starts, BC is all of a sudden a good football team and will beat us the way we are presently playing.

Hard to believe they would start Salter, Brice has a good understanding of the offence, he just had trouble putting up points which is not unusual for a QB starting his first game.  I understand Buck wanting to take an early look at Salter, but he has to be careful not to destroy Brice's confidence when doing so.

Wouldn't be surprised if Doman is impatient to turn the season around as the attendance looked squalid once again, Buck may be under considerable pressure to make the playoffs or be shown the door after only his second season.

No idea who they will start but Brice's confidence can't be one of the considerations. Rourke is the guy, he'll be back. Until then win by committee if you have to. Go with the hotter hand if there is one.

That's a pretty sad stat, one pass more than 30 yds?? Especially when you see our defense blow coverage and let McAllister get a 50 yd bomb uncovered!! Nobody around him. Why don't we face this type of defense?!?

It is pretty bad, but the question was about Dru Brown not the other QBs. A hand-off would probably be a 1 yard pass and  the rest of the yardage would be YAC.

lol? Some things?

I got the impression they have adopted a philosophy of f.u. We all get our money. It's 90 degrees, why should I kill myself? I got paid.

I mean did you see that lousy defense to start the game? Five guys played touch football. Look, I am paying over $1500.00 to sit in my pinnacle lounge seats. I only expect an effort.

And the coaching? ******, get Buck back or Lapo after his Olympic commitments.Condel or. Whatever his name is, is ridiculous. Throwing a hitch screen to the WR, when there are three guys on the Line of scrimmage is mind blowing.

I don't know how that DC still has a job. Really, he looks like he is not to alert.

His players can't play the pass defence he has contoured up is preposterous. And Walter's, get some players. You know some fast guys. Just like every other team has.  It would be fair to say, send that Canadian. qB back yo where he has come, from, and the tall kid #83, ....hes a waste of time. I really thought he would be converted to a tackle, I mean it's not 1977, he's no Tony GABRIEL? Or even a Paul Markle

White is fast.  Pokey is fast.  Demski is kinda fast.  That's more than enough for a REC corps.

The problem is we don't use speed.  We can't throw in stride.  We can't throw more than 50-55Y.  We can't do timing routes and throws-to-spots.

So the speed is wasted.  White is totally wasted.  What we really need is a team with nothing but Thick Niks.  At least then we'd have a strong short game.

I can tell you.  None.  Zero.  Nada.

The only mid/deep thing Dru has been able to do is that mid-zone sit he was doing every other play vs TOR.  And, lucky for us, it worked, and TOR never adjusted.

Dru has taken a couple of deeper shots, but they all failed.

As of now, he's Zach, but without the deep threat to keep D's honest.

Why not?  I didn't hear Allen had a season-ender in TC.  I thought maybe they were slow-walking him because of the ratio.  I'm not sure he's still legit injured, and if he is, why not give out details?

That said, I'm not sure Allen is the same "QB of the D" as Kramdi.  If he is, he needs to be slotted back in pronto.  Don't care if he's not ready.  These are desperate times.  And we already recaptured the 6G SMS for him.

Ya, he was on TSN during the game wearing a sling and not looking at all like he was anywhere ready.

This is kind of a disaster, because clearly he WAS the QB of the D, and he also was a ratio buster.  Major ratio problems while he's out.  Zero flexibility now.

We did not hear about Allen and we all thought it was a ratio thing. But apparently he did get injured in the preseason and DT has speculated he recently got surgery. He hasn't been practicing and was re-upped on the 6 game IR. Just another example of MOS not divulging anyone's business.

Lions lost 2 OL during their game over the weekend. It didn't look like their RT would be available this week. One of their G's was also injured but IIRC he returned to the game.

So all of Lions, TiCats and Bombers might be looking for a new OT this week.

Nothing shown in CFL. transactions yet. As I mentioned I expect Dixon and Woodbey to be removed from 6 game IR and possibly added to the AR for this week.

OTOH, in theory Collaros is still on the 6 game IR and cannot practice unless moved to either AR, RR or 1 game IR. Realistically I don't expect him to practice or play this week.

Seeing him on the sidelines, he doesn't appear to have any injury issue but I'm not his doctor. This would be game 4 missed and game 3 on the 6 game IR. That makes him eligible to practise starting next week.

Brown needs to step up his game and show he's a solid # 2. Quit throwing lame ducks passes please.

Yup. Collaros is not going to play this week again. Not sure what to think about both OT's not practising.

Oliveria must be nursing an injury and I would give serious thought to adding Peterson to take some of the load if he can't be closer to 100%.

Credit to DT for asking tough questions.

Not particularly impressed with Condell based on the interview, lots of cliches that say nothing...reminded me of Cheveldayoff. I can't remember, were there alternatives to him?

Wish someone would have asked him what he's going to do to make sure his QB's don't get pressured, and injured on a regular basis, rather than the softball questions that followed DT.

I'm confused with Vanterpool practising at " full ". He started the season on the 6 game IR, then was moved to RR for a week and now seems available.

Not sure why he had a short stint on the RR and whether that still counts against the 6 game IR limit. Perhaps so since he has not reached the 4 game time which would allow him to participate.

Both Broxton and Bryant are on the limp and not practising yet. So we don't know if one or both can play.

OTOH, there is no mention of bringing in another OL yet and it isn't likely he could be ready by Thursday.

Lots of other injuries across the roster.

Lions to start their rookie QB. If we can't beat a rookie QB in his 1st game, heads should roll.

Tommy's a talker not a listener, HC calls him into the office to fire him, Tommy does all the talking and still walks out the door without a job.  He's probably been let go so many times he's immune to the process and carries on as if it never happened. If Vant gets RT brace yourself for a world of hurt. Just throw broxton out there with a knee brace, and have him eschew run block.

Forget singer... We're in ratio heck, only way he gets on is if one of the two imp starters gets hurt.

We should praise Jesus that we get a severely diminished BC. no way we're beating anyone else right now. Heck, it'll probably be an insanely hard fought game, and still be a miracle if we win.

Most likely he would go on when one of the Canadian DTs rotate in, with Kelly on as the second Nat on defense. Or rotate in for one of Wilson or Jones.

Both OT's practising but listed as questionable. OTOH, Oliveria has not practised in 2 days and we may be forced to adjust our roster.

Woodbey in with the 1st team defence. I expect Jackson to be bumped back to PR.

Lions lose 2 OL, T.J .Lee, G. Peters and Cottoy are out. Overall they have a very long list of players out and I'm not sure which are starters and new injuries but they are depleted and on the road.

Good week to rest anyone who isn't 75%+

That said we need this one

Woodbey will be a key cog once back to game speed

Quote from: Tecno on July 28, 2026, 04:42:17 AMIf Vant gets RT brace yourself for a world of hurt.

Singer ain't coming on 100%.

Pray to baby Jesus lol

The problem is that we have 8 players that are nicked and are not 100%. The daily IR lists the OT's, Demski, Oliveria on offence. The others are replacements or depth potentially.

So it's inevitable that some will play at less than top form. Some may not be able to play. We'll know who plays when we see the depth chart but not their real level of health.

Demski always plays well and seems to miss many practices sessions. So not worried about him. The others in particular Oliveria are all a concern. Those are not positions you can under perform due to health. OTOH, I don't see many choices either.

Same report as last week for BO20. Brady will play he has the ultimate recovery zone in his backyard. He will be fired up and ready to go.

Someone get those hoggies a knee brace!!  Holy moses, we used to regularly have braced-up hoggies.  Now, I haven't seen one all season?  Brace up and get your big butt back to the LoS!  IR is for wusses!

He wasn't effective for the last two weeks. Whether that was play calling or opposition defences is only partially the question. Obviously he's nicked with a hip issue.

I'm still inclined to add Peterson in case he can't finish the game.

Vanterpool in for Broxton who was moved to 1 game IR. On paper that suggests Vanterpool was removed from 6 game IR early but was a necessity.  Woodbey back for Jackson which is a positive move.

Broxton only on the 1 game IR is probably a good sign he'll be back soon.

In theory Dixon could come off the 6 game IR but is still showing on the 6 game. I take that to mean he was extended and / or he's been passed on depth chart by Reese. The downside is that he can't practice. I'm not sure why they didn't move him to the 1 game IR so he could participate.

I find how we're using the IR rosters and not using the RR a bit odd. Essentially our SMS hit on the 1 game IR is almost nothing compared to normal. Ditto for using the RR.

That's a good thing I suppose in regard to the SMS.

Brady was 14/128 for a 9.1 avg and broke off a 45 yd. TD run, I'd say that's pretty effective.  The  disaster was his receptions, 1 for 1 for -1 yds. that's all on Condell.

Well well, Vanterpool's finally ready to go, and right on que. O'Shea said it yesterday, a player has to have the right personality to wait around for his chance, many don't have that patience and choose to leave.  For whatever reason he seems to be using the 6 game as a reserve. Vanterpool receiving full salary for the second year, hanging around and kicking back with the boys, no skin off his knees and it sure beats grinding for a living.

It's not about the total but the impact during the course of the game. That includes blocking assignments, outlet receptions as a receiver and how many very short runs he had getting stuffed.

He didn't see many reps after that big run and that's on Condell. Regardless IMO he was an ineffective factor to the outcome of the game. If he's not having a fairly dominant game from start to finish we tend to lose. He's the spark plug to our game.

Also note that I said for the last TWO weeks. I should have said 3 week. He had 69 and 48 respectively in those 2 games prior.  I think that big hit he took in the Argo game may have initially injured him and he's been having hip issues since.
