Title: Injuries
Post by: Blueforlife on July 06, 2026, 04:00:31 AM
I had guests and watched the game but not as close as usual.

Zach went down, looks like neck to me.

Who else?

Nield made one decent block in the 4th.  Other than that I literally didn't see him all game, but I'm sure he was out there.  I did see Corcoran a couple of times... is he getting some of Nield's reps??  Crazy if true.

Demski looked dinged on the rail hit, but kept playing.

Zach if "concussion precaution" will be out 0 to 2 weeks.  Zach if "neck" could be 1-4 weeks.

We've seen this 100 times before.  I think he gets these microconcussions that don't show up in protocol.  It's weird, all his bad brain rattles seem to have given him an immunity to being diagnosed with "the big one".  I think that's part of why Zach & WFC are so darn cautious every time -- every other QB would have come back in the game.

Agree with time frame.  I thought neck but is eyes looked f'd but seam to be a little better later.

My plan, develop all other QBs while he rests and get the OL healthy and the preferred group.  Bring back our leader when 110% and make a run.

Pretty sure Zach will be back next week. He looked fine on the sideline.
I can rhyme all the time!  ;D

I would rest him on a short week. Good chance to see what we have in D. Brown. I'm not sure who the better QB is at this point in their careers.

Not sure any recovering OL get back in after this game...

If Dru wasn't "ready" 4 days ago, Dru is still not ready day 1 this week.  That means it'll be Zach, or more Elgersma.  Elgersma looked fine, but has a tiny book and will suffer Strev syndrome out there... probably worse, because Elgersma doesn't have Strev's run threat.

Kelly and Argos have a high powered offense. If we have any hope of keeping up, its going to have to be Zach or Dru. I like TE, but he's not ready for this kind of challenge yet. And if its Zach, how long will he last this time? We need Dru on the roster already.

By game time, Brown will have been a Bomber for 18 days. You seriously think they can't get him ready in that time frame, particularly given the context that he's a veteran QB at this point, and that he played under Condell's system in Ottawa for 2 years within the past 2 years?

Totally agree. TE is the sentimental favourite, but face it, Dru Brown is the man we should be going with, whether Zach is healthy or not. I am thinking they'll keep Zach out this week and start Brown, who may have some rust, but he'll be miles and miles ahead of anyone else we have in the Qb room.

Yes, totally think there is no way Dru starts.  If Zach isn't ready they go with who they planned to go with.  Mafia never rushes.  At most they'd move Dru up 1 week -- from 5 weeks to 4.  That's still not now.

And the "days a Bomber" counts from the day he gets to WPG up until day 1 of practice.  Not signing day to game day.  And this is what, 14 days = 2 weeks?  Nah, it won't be Dru.

You're thinking like other teams would think.  They'd roll the dice, think of optics, etc.  That's not Mafia.  Elgersma put in his time to be in this precise position and so in that position he will be.  Ask me again in 3 weeks and then I'll give you a different answer.

Oh ya, the fact we're opting for only one practice basically guarantees it's not Dru.  In fact, it virtually guarantees it's Zach.

practice sched for this week was set before the hamilton game.

they will keep the qb decision tight just to keep TO guessing.

i dont think TE gets the start.  playbook too thin and his ability to read defences is just not there yet

Zac time to move along. Hamilton should make him their future asap. He clearly really can't make it happen in Winnipeg, anymore. Secondly, get some O linemen. This is the third year of ineptitude to be called pass blockers. Third, QB Brown should be starting, next game. He can avoid the horrendous lack of protection. To say the Bombers can pass block is a misnomer.

Where are the American scouts? They surely can not bring in decent athletic linemen.
I don't want to see Zac go, but he is at the stage of being a health hazard and unable to protect himself.

A good debate who will start here with some good points by all.

Regardless of his health I would not dress Zach.  Give him time.

See how Brown looks at practice and go from there.  Gut tells me Zach will play if its not serious and Taylor would be the #2 option.

Personally I would go Brown 1A,Taylor 1B and would give most the reps to Brown but sprinkle in the young man to keep him developing.  Heck I would even give Perkins a little more balls on short yardage (1-3 yards).

I'm with Techno Brown will take time to reseason

I agree with this too. I think you go Brown but give Taylor some set packages that he can run each game. I wouldn't really let a Perkins do anything other than short yardage but a Brown/Elgersma combo feels right and honestly I think we'll be way better off for it before long.

Dru needs a full week of practice with the current receivers and oline before even considering him an option to start.

This is a short week, and Elgersma has the most snaps with this crew, and with game time experience now, he will show a lot better with a short week of prep.

If they decide Dru is needed to start going forward, and Zach is still out, then they can give Dru a full week of snaps before throwing him in.

Zach should not be going in, the DC should be TE, BP and DB.

That can change for the next game depending on the way the game goes, and Zach's recovery.

I'd be surprised if Zach is held out of practice this week, I think pulling him was a precautionary decision.

I think Zach is probably in unless there are lingering symptoms of something.

But if he's out, there shouldn't even be a question that it's Dru going in. He is a starting QB in this league with years of experience with this team and the OC.

Please bring in another American receiver with speed. Or bring back that guy we had from Sask.

I'd the ratio would allow it we've got one of the PR who deserves a look first. Dorian Singer. Think in most years he'd have already been in but it's tough with only two import spots and both vets occupying them.
