Official: Greg Bell to make Ottawa Redblacks debut against Argonauts
by 3Down Staff  June 19, 2026

The Ottawa Redblacks will officially have Greg Bell in the starting lineup when they host the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday afternoon. The team released its depth chart on Friday.

The 25-year-old was a full participant in practice heading into the team's season-opening loss to the Edmonton Elks but a neck injury flared up the night before the game, which left him unable to play. He was briefly moved to the reserve roster before being placed on the one-game injured list.

Bell signed with the Redblacks in free agency after earning an All-East Division selection with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2025. He rushed 184 times for 1,038 yards, caught 62 passes for 426 yards, and scored six touchdowns over 15 regular-season games.

Head coach and general manager Ryan Dinwiddie told the media earlier this week that Bell was expected to play. He was a full participant in practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Elijah Collins, who started at running back last week, has been moved to the six-game injured list.

The Redblacks have made one other change to the starting lineup, moving field-side halfback Adrian Frye to the six-game injured list (groin). Jeremy Lucien will start in his place, with Shadwel Nkuba II being promoted from the practice roster to serve in a depth role. Lucien made three defensive tackles in Ottawa's season-opener after dressing as a backup.

The Ottawa Redblacks (0-1) will host the Toronto Argonauts (0-1) at TD Place Stadium on Saturday, June 20 with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts are coming off a high-scoring loss to the Montreal Alouettes, while the Redblacks spent Week 2 on bye.

The weather forecast in Ottawa calls for a high of 18 degrees and a 40 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto or TSN 1200 in Ottawa.

Toronto Argonauts switch right tackles for meeting with Redblacks
by 3Down Staff  June 19, 2026

The Toronto Argonauts have made just one change to their roster ahead of Saturday's clash with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Right tackle Kendall Randolph, who made his debut last week after being signed following training camp, has been placed on the six-game injured list with a knee issue. Veteran Brandon Kemp, who started eight games for the Argos in 2025, will take his place. He previously started 12 games over three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Toronto has made no other changes to their roster, despite the availability of receiver Jake Herslow, who caught 59 passes for 756 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. He has been placed on the reserve roster, allowing Tyler Kahmann to remain in the lineup after he had six catches for 106 yards and a major in his debut.

This game will mark the first matchup between the Argonauts and their old head coach Ryan Dinwiddie, who left in the offseason to join the Redblacks. Dinwiddie won two Grey Cups during his time in Toronto.

The Toronto Argonauts (0-1) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (0-1) at TD Place Stadium on Saturday, June 20, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Basically no change for either team except the change at TOR RT.  How long does Dinwiddie keep rolling with barely-game-manager Maier?

This will be Maier's last start this season.  Could be a very long season for the Redblacks, hopefully their fanbase hangs in.

Can't panic Dinwiddie is 2 games in, O'Shea didn't post a winning record until this 3rd season.

Honestly, Ottawa has been a turd for years, you're not going to be able to just wave a magic wand in a few games.

Kelly looked very good before he took that first massive hit.  Then it took him like 3 series to get his head back on straight.  I thought maybe he was concussed, but spotters seemed content.  (Good band name idea: Content Spotters)

Kelly is going to be hard to beat when he's playing in top form.  And their REC corps is stacked.  Maybe the best.  And with Herslow still yet to heal up.  Wow.

Mital turning into a legit top NAT.  He's huge, in the style of McInnis.

The new TOR HC Miller using some sort of CB radio setup?  That's a new one.  He does have a headset mic, but also a separate CB-style thing in his hand with a coil cord going down to his waist.

Hothead Shepley getting ejected.  LOL.  What an idiot.  Wasn't he in SSK before?  Maybe that's why he was expendable.

The flashy INT by Hutter in the 4th was amazing.  Top quality play.  Like the Carter INT last year.  Well, nothing is as good as that INT, but this was pretty good for a NAT kid FS.

Kelly/TOR is absolutely impatient and OTT is taking advantage.  We need to remember this when we play them.  Kelly ignores everything underneath and in the flat.  He's only interested in the big glamor pass.  This is one instance where our D may do well, as we put on the max-cover and get unexpected guys into the zone lanes for INTs.

LOL.  And that kids is why you need a dedicated and good SY game.  MOS>Dinwiddie.

And, besides Dinwiddie having no brains there, it was Maier that blew it.  He had 2 sure-thing TDs with well drawn up plays and either wide-open or open-enough RECs.  And what does he do?  Badly underthrow one, and throw-behind on the other.

Interesting choice for TOR to take a safety after.  Put them within 10 instead of 2 majors.  Then again, it's OTT, probably a safe bet they can't even get 10.  Not often teams will purposely take a FS with 2:30 left like that.

Remember Dinwiddie's first year in TOR looked much like this.  It's rare you can make a basement team good in one year.  I'm sure OTT org & fans know this.

Gino should be embarrassed on that late INT against him.  You pay Gino the massive bucks so he'll track & catch that.  If he had just played the ball instead of worrying about the DB INT, he would have had it.  Kenny would have had that.  It's like Gino gave up, even though the game was still very much within reach.

If Gino keeps barely trying like this, he won't have a job there next season.  Heck, Dinwiddie has been known to release players mid-season.

Duggan in at OTT QB to mop up instead of Brown??  What's up with that?  Is this a message to Brown??  Does Dinwiddie hate the guy?  Very bizarre.

It's not like Dru is their SY guy.  Right now he's their "nothing" guy.

And I guess they have no SY guy?  I don't recall a single sneak that wasn't Maier?  Is that why they kept taking it off the LoS on the 1?  They don't even have a RB or FB who can act as a specialist?

OTT's games usually look overly dark.  This time we got a daytime game, and the game looked perfectly bright and normal.  The turf is definitely a slightly darker color, but in the day it looks fine.

So that proves it's not the cameras there (which are probably all the same anyhow) or the turf or anything.  It proves the problem is almost certainly the lights.

I wonder if OTT is using LEDs.  I wonder if they are substandard or different in some way so that their frequency is conflicting with the camera sample frequency.

I'm pretty sure SSK also uses LEDs (because they can turn them on/off & dim at will without any warmup period).  But SSK looks fine on TV.

The dark-OTT-at-night problem has existed for 3 seasons now.  The CFL should DEMAND they fix this.

Another thing we should note: Kelly throwing almost every pass to the strong side crew.  Just a couple to Polk/Coxie on the other side.  They really like the 2 NATs and the new Kahmann guy.
