Blue Bombers Transactions - May 5, 2026
WINNIPEG, MB., May 5, 2026 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the following roster moves.
Added to roster:
American linebacker Ja'Kobe Clinton (6-2, 230, West Florida)
He sounds like a good one.
9 import LB's listed not counting Grifffin and Woodbey. Those 2 are a hybrid DB/LB I suppose.
Roster shows 14 LB's. A few might be pure LB's and some may be capable of other roles.
It's going to be a battle that's for sure.
I thought the same, we way too deep but this guy sounds like a baller

A couple may land on the PR. Obviously we're well covered if we have some early injuries in TC. It's still a bit curious that we're bringing in so many. Perhaps some of those from 2025 might be in serious competition. That's just for the imports and then we have the chance that one or more of the Canadians make a stand to be next man up.
The final results will be interesting and I have no idea how this well end up. That's not a bad thing.
107 bodies, thats just crazy, I'm not sure how you evaluate who is a gamer
Remember we will have a lot cut early, hurt or won't show up

If you have a year under your belt in WFC you have the leg up. If you're an unknown rookie... you gotta flash, and flash fast. Sometimes even that isn't enough!!
I think we have to release about 10-15 before the main TC. Today we'll have a few no shows and perhaps a few fail their physical.
That's all normal.
We have about 10 non counters which would take our roster to 97 counters. Main TC is down to 85 counters on May 9.

107 bodies in rookie camp?

No. That's the total number on our roster, not how many rookies we have.

Right, what is the limit allowed in TC?

85 non counters in rookie camp until May 9. We have about 12 non counters at the moment. On May 12 we have to reduce to 75 + non counters.
There are some missing bits of info. A couple of non drafted players that are non counters. A few imports on roster on CFL.CA but not on roster shown in this string.
Could be a day late which doesn't help their chances in a short window. Also a few late signings that also don't show on either roster yet ( Clinton ) for one.
I won't be surprised if we see a few deletions as early as tonight. One dropped pass, missed coverage or tweaked ankle could end an attempt.
I'm sure that some of the southern boys saw the snow today and said "hell nah!"
I see Novak was transferred to Injured Veteran. I thought that might be the case and that he might not be available until mid season. It might also explain drafting a couple more this year.

That's a shame. Didn't realize it was that serious.

Might be. Or might be a stash while we scope out the latest DPs... Isn't room for them all!

As far as I know, the new draft picks are non-counters right now. They don't affect anything until final cuts.
What was the injury? You'd think a young athlete would heal up better than ever after almost a full year?

That's correct which also applies to a couple of non drafted Canadians that we signed. The only change is that any returning picks from last year that returned to college for one more year are now counters. We have one OL that applies to.
At the moment we've only signed 7 of 9 2026 draft picks. They might arrive for the main TC. That leaves us with maybe 10 at the moment as non counters.

A knee injury that happened about mid season last year. So a full year will be in August this year. Whether he can return sooner or not will be a health decision later but no need to rush him. Remember what happened with Schoen which is something we want to avoid on a young player.
