Wilson is such an unnecessary signing. Already have enough LBs and if the plan is to carry 2 DI at LB again, our pass rush is going to suffer if we go with only two guys at DE.
Someone should tell Walters he can wait til FA for some of these guys.
Hard to see the plan when it comes to the LB core.

at this point it just feels like we're running everyone back again, because that went so well last year.

We had a chance to get a little younger. LBs was a good place to start as we have so many young LBs right now.
Bring back the old guys for one more try is a great movie idea, but not so great in real life.
I wasn't expecting Wilson to be re-signed. He can still play at a good level and seldom makes a mistake as far as I've noticed.
His SMS won't be excessive but how do we fit in the other import LB's on the AR? Others have mentioned the possibility of 3 import OL and this adds to that ratio issue.
I don't see the downside in re-signing K.Wilson to a 1-year. If one of the younger guys beats him out in TC, we send him home with a thank you and a handshake. If nobody beats him out, we have a reliable known quantity at WIL. in either case, we aren't breaking the bank.

If the competition was fair then that would be a reasonable assessment. This is poor roster management that we've complained about for 2 years.

If there is no bonus, this is not an issue, he could be insurance and TC fodder. I have no issues with this signing, he's been a good player for us for years.
Blue Bombers Re-Sign Kyrie Wilson
WINNIPEG, MB., January 27, 2026 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has agreed to terms on a one-year extension with veteran linebacker Kyrie Wilson.
Wilson (6-1, 227; Fresno State; born: November 5, 1992, in Fresno, CA.) returns in 2026 for his ninth Canadian Football League season, all of them with the Blue Bombers.
Wilson is coming off one of the best campaigns of his career, having suited up for all 18 regular season games and the Eastern Semi-Final while registering 49 defensive tackles, added two more on special teams, along with three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Wilson, 33, has now appeared in 73 games over his eight seasons with the Blue Bombers and has accumulated 206 tackles, nine sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion, with his championship-sealing interception in overtime in the 2021 Grey Cup one of the most memorable moments in franchise history.

LBers weren't really the problem in '25. The worst thing I can say is they weren't quite as good against the run explosions, especially the edge runs. But that might be scheme where we try to keep them closer to the box.
We also haven't been seeing as much of the LBer-drops-back-to-INT-zone-passes trickery we used to see so much with Biggie. But again, that could be scheme.
Maybe overall the LB corps is a bit undersized? That would explain some of the run issues.
I would hope T.Jones gets even better and we get more flexible with how we use him (more dropping back, etc). He's kind of the "youngest in the corps" in terms of how many seasons he's been in our system. Maybe we let him do more things this season.

I more mean that we have multiple guys on the roster + a lot of draft capital invested in LBs and there's seemingly no way for them to get playing time.
He performed well last year and was healthy (for the first time ever). Not a sexy signing but this also wasn't an area of concern so this is good.

you're kidding yourself if you think MOS would bring back a vet like Wilson just to be fodder. And even if he is, all he's gonna do is eat into the reps for actual rookies or young players. If they want him as insurance, bring him in after you actually improve your team.

For sure. Blame Mafia for being obsessed with drafting LBers, especially in high picks. They seem to do this a whack ton, and other than MOS being a LBer, no one can really say why. Maybe LBers are the sweet spot (size/athleticism) for ST?
If Shay pans out into a Kramdi-style NAT MLB starter in year 2 or 3 it may be all worth it, though!
Now, if Mafia blows first to fourth RDP on some LBers again.... hoo boy is this place gonna get ugly!
Looks like the plan is "run it back" and get blown out in the East Division crossover again.
The core deserves it.

Ding, ding, ding, O'Shea would roster nothing but LB's on ST if he could, they're the best scrappers.

if we don't play Shay or Smith for that matter it won't matter. They'll leave for another team that will. Edmonton has developed Dublanko as a starter, Mtrl Arku and Richards, ly Hamilton Veresuk. Yet other than special teams did either Shay or Smith get on the field more than a few times.

I expect them to get a few more reps but with our depth and number of LBs yes could be a concern but not one I'm overally worried about (yet).

...We could be 0-17 and down 38 points in the forth quarter of the final week and you wouldn't be worried, to be fair.
I stand corrected. You once, about a decade ago, didn't like a coordinator coaching signing but concluded it went well shortly after. My bad.
Thanks for clarifying and reminding everyone for the 400th time that we should "talk ball" and not dispute any of your rosy outlooks even when yoi interject them in the middle of other people "taking ball".

I have been critical of the ball club, management, players and coaches when I deem necessary. Just because you believe I'm only positive on here doesn't mean I am. This place is here for us to focus in talking football, not about each other. It's not a big ask. My memory is poor, I can't think of any other times I was critical about our specific FA signings.
I provide a lot of content, analysis and opinions on here. It's not simple rosy outlooks. That's an incorrect statement and please stop painting me with the blue coloured brush. When I "interject" I provide my take on the club or league. We don't have to agree with our takes but not necessary to make it personal imo.
Dispute, debate, counter my opinions. I never asked anyone to stop doing that. That's whst makes this place great, space for everyone to post their two cents about football. Just please don't make blanket, untrue or personal statements about me.
I often provide a counter argument about the football club and that's allowed. There is no reason to paint me as a positron over and over. You have said you opinion on that. Please let this go and we move on.
Your comments are not welcome, factual or fair at times, simply asking you to reflect on how you post about me. I provided examples on how I have been critcal of the club and they are all documented and sprinkled in my thousands of comments.
That all said I enjoy your content on here if we can just stop the personal positron type stuff about me.
I really like this signing, believe he will be good this year and agree with others that have posted the same.
Regarding Lapo, I was non supportive of him for awhile but has he found success I slowly changed my tune and admitting I was wrong. It's not true what you posted about that.
I have found at times when I ask others to talk ball we can move on and its helps redirect the convo. That's all I'm asking here. Time to change the channel.
