Title: Posters You Don't Appreciate
Post by: ModAdmin on October 13, 2025, 06:27:35 AM
With the Bombers currently struggling to consistently win games, there is a pattern that brings out the best and worst in posting etiquette.

Again, regular posters fall into 3 general categories, (1) Posters who can praise and critique with fairness and objectivity, (2)  Posters who take the opportunity to stir the pot with a constant barrage of negativity toward players and the team, and, (3) Posters who constantly praise players/team regardless of performance and production.

Posters in the first category usually interact with other members in a positive manner while objectively giving credit for good performance and objective criticism for poor performance.

Posters in the second category are generally ignored if their comments are consistently negative and they only enter discussions when the Bombers under-perform.

Posters in the third category, who regularly and consistently praise the team, regardless of player/team performance, present an unbalanced view.

My advice, regarding members in the second and third categories is to ignore them.  The forum is available for constructive comments about the team both pro and con.

Ignoring such comments diffuses those unbalanced arguments.  And, if the comments break Code of Conduct rules, they are removed.

It is unfortunate there are extremes by some members that distract discussions. But we see that reacting to these extremes does not make discussions more productive or helpful.

Word of the day - IGNORE.  Thanks for listening.

It's been a nice ride for a few years while we were winning so much, eh?

I saw the thread title and thought I'd be reading something different.

Great post by Mod Admin.

Constant positivity is silly, but does not bother me;

group 2 types are irritating at best. balanced criticism/analysis is great, but

What kind of fan are you if the only thing you find worth mentioning is a player, coach, team, league shortcoming?

There are a few people who have "one foot in the boat", so to speak.  But, in all seriousness, ignore the extremists.  They don't last.

I hear you. I really do not post as often as I want to (travel out of country takes a lot of my time). However since retiring I should be able to post more during the upcoming off season. I have been here since the beginning and have seem lots of folks come and go. And I sort of miss a few (Nasty Nate and others)

I try and stay balanced and express my views but positive and negative at times. But I do not point out any individual player as they mostly just do the best they can most of the time. Management on the other hand is fair game IMHO.

With this now out of the way, would it be against the CoC to create a thread about specific posters we don't appreciate?

I have a lot of feelings

I have recently discovered the option to add users to an ignore list from my profile page. It blocks out every post of those users and leaves me with the option to read it if I choose. It has been so much more enjoyable reading through the threads!

Most posters who give reasons are interesting.

I haven't done that and don't plan to in any case. It's frustrating at times but you want to see what others are thinking and why even if we don't agree. Some reasoning defies logic.

Also. This is a test to see if you put me on your list.  :)

I for one am tired of a couple of posters who pump illogical, argumentative, eternal, sunshine up everyone's butt and we re supposed to keep reading that junk,  no way, they're on my ignor list and I ve never been happier in this forum.
