Official: QB Dustin Crum to make second-straight start for Ottawa Redblacks
By 3Down Staff -September 4, 2025

The Ottawa Redblacks will have Dustin Crum under centre when they host the B.C. Lions on Friday night.

The 26-year-old native of Grafton, Ohio has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 902 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions this season. He has also rushed for 258 yards and seven scores.

Crum
has made three starts so far this year, posting a 1-2 record. He was under centre for Ottawa's most recent game, a 30-20 loss to the Edmonton Elks from Week 12.

Dru Brown
was limited in practice all week due to a knee injury he sustained against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 11. The 28-year-old native of Palo Alto, Calif. has completed 72.7 percent of his passes for 1,842 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions over seven starts this season, posting a 2-5 record.

Ottawa has made several changes to the roster this week, moving starting offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek (foot) and starting defensive tackle Cleyon Laing (calf) to the six-game injured list. Jacob Ruby will start for Bladek at right guard, while Blessman Ta'ala will start for Laing at nose tackle.

Bralon Addison
has returned to the starting lineup at receiver, while Lucas Cormier, who missed Ottawa's last three games with a quad injury, will start at weak-side linebacker. There are also two changes in the secondary as Mark Milton will start at field-side halfback after being acquired via trade from the Toronto Argonauts and Robert Priester will start at boundary halfback after returning from a head injury.

Three depth Canadians — offensive lineman Sam Carson, defensive lineman Muftah Ageli, and defensive back Charlie Ringland — have all returned to the lineup after injury bouts.

Canadian defensive lineman Daniel Okpoko, who was taken off of the team's last game in an ambulance, has been moved to the one-game injured list with a shoulder injury. Receiver Andre Miller, linebacker Zach Philion, and defensive back Bentlee Sanders have all been moved to the practice roster.

The Ottawa Redblacks (3-8) will host the B.C. Lions (5-6) at TD Place Stadium on Friday, September 5 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT. Both teams were on a bye this past week.

The weather forecast in Ottawa calls for a high of 21 degrees with cloudy conditions and a 30 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 730 CKNW in Vancouver and TSN 1200 in Ottawa.

Centre Michael Couture returns for B.C. Lions against Redblacks
By 3Down Staff -September 4, 2025

The B.C. Lions will have some significant pieces back in the lineup when they face the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night.

Centre Michael Couture is the most notable addition after the bye week, stepping back in with the starting unit after missing the last six games with a hand injury. His return bumps Andrew Peirson back into a backup role, while former first-round CFL Draft pick Anu Una has been promoted to starting right guard, and American Ilm Manning has been sent to the practice roster for ratio reasons.

Defensively, Jalon Edwards-Cooper makes his return to the boundary halfback spot as the team re-shuffles its secondary yet again. Deontai Williams moves back to the nickel and takes over for Patrice Rene, while Ronald Kent Jr. and Robert Carter Jr. swap responsibilities. Boundary corner Garry Peters is a question mark, though, as he is listed as a game-time decision after being limited by a knee injury in practice.

The situation along the defensive line is less kind, as starting edge rusher Sione Teuhema and Canadian defensive tackle Christian Covington have both been placed on the six-game injured list. Interior pass rusher DeWayne Hendrix is also out this week with a nagging hip injury, drawing Marcus Moore back into the lineup. Newcomer Levi Bell will make his debut in the defensive end rotation, as Canadian Anthony Bennett goes onto the practice roster. Canadian linebacker Adam Auclair returns from injury to beef up the special teams.

The B.C. Lions (5-6) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (3-8) at TD Place Stadium on Friday, September 5 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

It turned into a game. That missed offside looms large now.

Let's see what Crum can do
In the last 3 minutes.

I'm at 3Q9:00, and I'm debating which is more of a snoozefest, this game or the EDM game last week?  Just awful football.  And no, it's not the rain, they were awful before it hit.

Fine incoming for that FM sack on Crum.  Maybe a suspension?  Imagine if someone did that to Zach.  Ya, "Crum can take it", but if Zach or Trevor were season-ended with that I bet it would be a suspension.  My son loved it though: he thought it was WWE wrestling!

I'm surprised the OTT boobirds haven't come out yet.  The groanbirds are out already, but that's it.  Maybe they all left because of the rain.  Too bad OTT didn't make this their "free towel SWAG" night.

With that crazy top-talent OTT REC corps you think there would be more air game.  Guess Crum still hasn't learned how to throw.

TV coverage still looks dark.  And there are a ton of shadows on the players.  I wonder if it's because the stands aren't very high?  If you had only low-angle lights it could cause this.

How on earth does Eberhart get to be mid-twenties and not know he has type-1 diabetes?  How on earth did he ever grow that tall?

Unless it's some uber-rare adult-onset type 1.  Very odd.

Wow!  I guess booth guys were right and the 1st half crap was just rust.

HAHAHHAHAHA  BC loses to Crum.  HAHAHAHHAHHA  Thanks BC for saving WPG in the standings, keeping us firmly at 3rd.

I bet 75% of OTT fans left because of the bad rain plus their no-hope team.  Guess they were wrong!

And Rourke+Hatcher couldn't do what Arbuckle+Brissett did.  LOL

P.S. Rourke, you want the mid pass, even if your dude caught it, it was 0:00 on the clock.

Ya, except he's another Pokey/Wheatie/Mitchell -- another lean WR speed guy.  We need some beef, or rounded talent.  I'd take Hardy (beef) in a second.  And Gino (rounded).

Lions loss means they are 2 games behind the Bombers in the standings ( we have series won ). They will have to win 2 more games than the Bombers in their last 6. We have a game in hand that we play today. Bombers winning puts the Lions in an even deeper hole.

Nothing is impossible but but the Riders and Stamps are looking to finish top 2 teams in the West. Need to shake that up a bit today beating them.

We're 3 games back of Skn and Cgy (They've got the season series). It looks a lot like 3rd in the West for us this year.

we gotta win out and hope those teams lose.  we have two more against sask so those are huge.

calgarys defence is the best in the cfl.  they have built a powerhouse D this season

Winning out puts us at 13-5 (Obviously unlikely)

But that would mean Sask would have to go no better than 4-3 in their last 7 (with the implication that we have the season series in this scenario).

And Calgary would have to go 4-3 or worse as well.

I would prefer if we crossed over as I think it would be an easier route to the GC game.

Pimpleton is far more elusive and quicker than any of those guys. He's a threat to break it all the way any and everytime he touches the ball. I d take him over anyone else out there. Highly overlooked because he plays for Ottawa but a game breaker just the same. He won the game for Ottawa

The crossover is less likely for the Bombers with the BC loss last night. Bombers are likely looking at a third place finish and going on the road to get back to Winnipeg for the Grey Cup. If the Bomber can win today a home playoff game is still a possibility, a loss and that ship has sailed.

There's been a single win over in cross over history (we were the team that lost).
