Prized free-agent acquisition Reggie Stubblefield making Hamilton Tiger-Cats debut vs. Ottawa
By 3Down Staff -July 11, 2025
One of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' biggest offseason additions will make his much-anticipated debut for the team on Saturday against Ottawa.
Reggie Stubblefield will get the start at strong-side linebacker after missing the first four games of the season while rehabbing a torn ACL suffered in the 2024 season opener while playing for the Alouettes. Veteran Branden Dozier, who has made 13 tackles this year, will be a healthy scratch to make room.
The 26-year-old Stubblefield was Montreal's nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie in 2023 after making 38 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in 13 games, helping the Alouettes win the Grey Cup. His new contract with Hamilton runs through 2027.
On the other side of the ball, the Ticats have elected to swap out their left tackle as Jordan Murray will get the start after previously serving as a healthy scratch. Incumbent Brendan Bordner will head to the one-game injured list despite not being listed on this week's report.
American running back Greg Bell (ribs) will also miss this contest while on the one-game, allowing rookie Treshaun Ward to dress behind Johnny Augustine for a second time this season. Canadian receiver Keaton Bruggeling will suit up for special teams depth while defensive back Robert Panabaker (hamstring) sits out.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-2) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (1-4) at Hamilton Stadium on Saturday, July 12 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Ottawa suffered a 39-33 loss to the Edmonton Elks last week, while Hamilton is coming off a 51-38 win over the Toronto Argonauts.
The weather forecast calls for sunny conditions at kickoff with a high of 29 degrees. The game will be broadcast on TSN, RDS, and CTV in Canada and on CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa and the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton.

Ratio-changing Canadian OL Zack Pelehos returns for Ottawa Redblacks vs. Ticats
By 3Down Staff -July 11, 2025
The Ottawa Redblacks are still battling plenty of injury concerns, but will get a major piece of their offensive line back in the lineup for Saturday's clash with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Canadian right tackle Zack Pelehos will return to his starting spot after missing the first five games of the year with a foot injury. The second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Draft has started 23 of his 38 career games at the position and looked to be trending in the right direction for his development prior to the injury.
In his absence, right tackle had been a serious concern for the Redblacks, leading to the release of opening day American starter Darta Lee. Rookie American Parker Moorer filled in last week, but has now been returned to the practice roster.
Pelehos' return comes at a critical time for the Redblacks' ratio-wise, as safety Charlie Ringland (hamstring) has been placed on the one-game injured list. He is the third experienced Canadian at that position to be sidelined with injury, prompting versatile American defensive back Bennett Williams to get the start. Canadian King Ambers and American Alijah McGhee will both dress for depth in the secondary.
Weak-side linebacker Frankie Griffin (knee) has also been placed on the one-game injured list, allowing for B.C. Lions' Most Outstanding Rookie nominee Ace Eley to make his starting debut for Ottawa. Canadian Lucas Cormier returns to the lineup as his primary backup after recovering from an ankle injury, sending Dawson Pierre back to the practice squad. Along the defensive line, former first-round pick Anthony Bennett has been demoted in favour of American Chas McGowan.
The most significant injury change is the loss of veteran returner Devonte Dedmon, who has been placed on the six-game injured list after getting his ankle twisted last week. That injury is apparently not as bad as initially feared and Kalil Pimpleton will take over primary return duties in the interim, while still maintaining his role as a starting receiver. He scored a 97-yard punt return touchdown in relief against Edmonton.
The Ottawa Redblacks (1-4) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-2) at Hamilton Stadium on Saturday, July 12 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Ottawa suffered a 39-33 loss to the Edmonton Elks last week, while Hamilton is coming off a 51-38 win over the Toronto Argonauts.

On CTV for those that want to tune in via rabbit years or that don't have TSN
Nice play Ott DB
Bo almost got ducked
Brown looks lights out.
JA 27 bad drop
Sick catch Hardy #2
Brown a cool quick pass to White(sidelines)
Nice drop Kenny!!!
JA 27 bad drop #2
Nice grab BOO
Leggs 25 in a row, critics went pretty silent on him, nice to see him "straighten out" lol
Big game for White receiving thus far, last years draft pick I think
Also on CFL+ with a VPN.
Sick return 83
Some suggested Kenny wasn't worth his contract / wouldn't earn it
Another sick catch
On target for 2000 yards
Full disclosure I didn't want to sign him for his asking prices
Leggs missed a PAT (is windy)
Lawler getting attention on his left arm (minor)
Geno looks great
Brown has weird angle on his deep throw to Geno (duck)
JA not having a great game
It's Redblacks so who knows, but So far Dru has not had a great career as a starter.
I have not liked Bo since his obnoxious remark about "we showed them who they are, "
But I am getting a kick out of watching him do well.
The difference between Lawler and Lewis isn't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Both top drawer imo
Brown another back duck
Peters on RB
JA 27 can't break one 6 for 21
I thought the roughing the passer call at the end was weak.
Ottawa D played well, although they did t cover lawler on the winning td, which was odd. Bo.... Missed a few. Dru .... Must be disappointed with his own play, Ottawa o line is not the best.
An ok, not great game.
Dru Brown and the Ottaw Redblacks snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. So far, Brown has shown himself to be no more than an average starter.
Dyce should probably be fired at this point, but Ottawa will probably wait until it's too late.

He should have been fired attend of last season, now his team is 1-5, but still in the playoff hunt
He ll get another week but at 1-6 or 1-7, the trigger must be pulled before they drop out of playoff contention. They have Campbell on staff who was their HC so it's not like they don't have options. But even with that they need a change in leadership in that clubhouse

The RB's played decently tonight, didn't see anything that should cost anyone their jobs, Ti-Cats are establishing themselves as a competitive team. Pimpleton had a very unfortunate night, he had a return TD called back on penalty and fumbled a punt deep in his own end.
On the challenged KR TD, if Dyce had won, OTT could have challenged back that the RET did a stiff-arm FM on the cover guy right after the IB. The FM made the cover guy, who had hands on him, fall down.
Would have loved to see that! Dueling challenges. I think I've only seen that once?
P.S. Command got this right. It was close, but you don't have to use your hands to commit IB, and it was right at the point of attack.

JA had probably his worst game as a "starter". Basically useless. Some blame on the OL, but it can't all be. JA should stick to what he does best: be a "free dress" (and inexpensive) backup RB.
So far it looks like we made the right choice swapping for Peterson with HAM.
Quote from: dd on July 12, 2025, 11:59:54 PMNice drop Kenny!!!
Little mental whiffs. He had a lot of those for us in 2024. He's a weird guy. He'll make the greatest catches and have 200Y 2-3TD games, then have games filled with oopsies and heels-on-lines.
Usually only QBs are "good <name> bad <name>", but Kenny shows it can be a REC too. Weird. If he was a $150k it would be fine, but he's a $300k. A top-3 REC is supposed to be near 90%, not 50%.
Ya, in total he did better in this game than not, but the point remains.
BLM is quite the enigma. He has these MOP games then has pedestrian, or even bad, ones. He was perfectly dialed in in the last game, but then in this game he's overthrowing everyone again. Kenny saved him on a couple, but couldn't on some others.
Look at all his misses today: all overthrows.
He may be the most frustrating QB to pick in fantasy.
Dyce mentioned that he was forced to play some players due to the significant number of injuries on the roster. In fact I think he suggested some might even have been released if not required to back fill injuries. His point being that some players continue to take stupid after the play penalties, selfishly.
That said, I wonder where the line might be drawn on Dyce being fired as HC. Losing is not all on him but a change might still be needed before it's too late.
There were some quite bad Ottawa O line whiffs. Some of those players do not play like a CFL player at all.
Sask Oline is pretty bad too.
Bombers O line may not be what it once was, but it's still up there I think
Love the guy but Dyce isn't HC material, IMO.
here is the condensed game - all the plays and replays of the big plays!!
