This is a fun look at ways we were wrong for those that are wiling.
I have a couple birds in the oven already
1. Big serving on Strev, I had Wilson ahead of him....
2. OL I was worried about the unit with new faces and claimed we would take time to gel like last year
might be a bit soon...we have only played two games. let those birds marinade or even better fatten up a bit.

That's priceless lol
Sounds like you got a recipe in mind but haven't butchered yet

Will you have that with a side of waffles? :)

Would you like to try to contribute to the discussion? Can you please stop with these types of comments? Can you not post things that you claim I said that are not true?
I'll attempt to put your ridiculous comments to bed for the final time. You suggested I said Weitz was the best option for the roster last week, which I never stated. I said I liked the roster decisions in general. Then you kept insisting I said something that I didn't. There was no waffles required, just you attempting to create fake news about something I said. For the final time, I am asking you to drop this and talk football. The crow thread is supposed to be fun, don't ruin it.
So it's quite a pre-selected crow eating thread then.

The thread is for fun and a laugh and for all people to chime in about early season predictions that they now have found they were wrong on.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Let people have a bit of fun with it then.

Nope. You'll get challenged on any position you can't support. That is about football. That is about debates on the forum. You have the option to ignore or block me.

Love a debate, love talking football. There was no challenge here, you simply stated something that I said that wasn't true and then trolled with the waffle comments. Please stop doing that. I challenge others on their opinions and expect the same. That's why we are on here. I value everyone's opinion on here including yours. If anything I challenged you to not post things about me that were not true and you didn't like that.
You were not talking football when you made things up about me. I would appreciate if we can focus on football not me. I have asked that repeatedly in the past. We will not always see eye to eye and that's ok. I have no interest ignoring you or blocking you. I am here to listen to everyone's opinion and that's why I come.
Please contribute to the thread if willing and stop making it about me. This is a eat crow thread about the Bombers (or CFL). You have derailed this topic enough, which in turn I have too. Let's please leave this and allow space for crow eating, not a lot of bird being served up. Don't spook the flock LOL.
There is no value in this continuing, let's please just drop it. Other posters don't need to see us go back and forth on this and lets make it easier on the mods and call a truce here.
All we've done is beat BC who basically beat themselves. They couldn't stop the run in the first and gave up 5 turnovers in the 2nd.
We won't really know what kind of team we are until we play CGY & SKN & we won't know if we're elite until we play MTL.
Gonna lend a had to Blueforlife here...
There's a long way to go in this season, but here is a few of my early surprises. I don't think I stood on a hill for any of these, but I just wanted to point these out.
I don't think anyone had Wheatfall as our #1 receiver through 2 games! He has far outplayed his expectations!
I thought Hogan was just an easy hire rather than doing the whole coaching search, but he's called some great football for the most part this season.
I was disappointed in Parker getting the start at safety. I really wanted to see Griffin or Allen get the nod. I still think mixing in Griffin at safety for early downs could be interesting but I'm sure stability would be more important.
Before TC I expected Griffin might be starting at safety with Parker moving to CB.
Later I though Allen might start at safety with Parker moving to CB.
Neither of those happened and Bridges seems to have done enough to win and hold the starter position at CB.
Zero complaints about how Parker and Griffin are being used but everything falls on Bridges continuing to develop and hold his spot.
In game injuries give us some alternative things we can do. For the moment we also have Vaval who looked good in pre season when on defence. While I don't want to bump him from the roster, Logan offers some different skills we can use on offence and how our combined ratio is treated.
That is an extension of whether we keep Cooley on the AR and increase his role, or whether we decide to add Vanterpool back.
I'd feel at least a little better if we added Vibert as a 7th OL. We're a little thin and if we have an injury on the OL it could be an issue. Vanterpool provides depth at OT that we don't really have elsewhere. So even if he starts at LG, he could slide if we have an injury.
At the moment, it would appear an injury at OT would require Neufeld to move and Eli to be the RG. That wouldn't be my 1st choice but it's one of the ratio issues to be considered.
It's really a question of depth, whether to retain depth at RB, OL and so on.
When BO returns that makes choice easier but we don't know when he'll be able to return.

that's fair, we can leave the roasters on mid and late season and revisit, thanks to others for their contributions
The idea of the thread came based on my and others thoughts as we analyzed the team just before, during and after camp, preseason and the 1st couple of games. Always interesting to revisit what the arm chair QB's thought might happen. I had thought that Allen would come in mid season, don't see that now but I want him to get reps too. Tough call there with Parker being so great. Always loved Parker.
Going into the season, I was expecting us to win one against BC is a close game.
The fact we beat them twice, quite easily is pretty impressive. Danny Mac and/or Kyle Walters need more credit for bringing in good US players year after year. It's really incredible.

Yeah I didn't see two wins either
The way we won surprised me both times
Agree all

I thought we'd win both, but I thought it would be tough.
What everyone is forgetting is BC will almost certainly finish 2nd or 3rd (most likely) in the W. Just because they aren't great early, doesn't mean they won't end high up.
Remember, BC was picked by many pundits to go to the cup. Of course, so was EDM and HAM, so take it all with a grain of salt.

And finding Canadians. Jaylen Smith, fumble recoverer.
Specially because we lost player management people to ticats, and a few years ago ringmaiden, which I thought might be a problem, and which was not.
Train keeps rollin
we got a bit "lucky" with Rourke being out for the second game - but that is sports and how things roll sometimes.

I don't know about that. We destroyed him in game 1 and every other time we played against him.

true but he is better than Masoli - and he would have been at home. We will never know of course but based on talent I think the game with Rourke would have looked different - maybe same outcome...we may have played better offensively too - strange how that happens sometimes.

Sure that's a possibility but like I said, he hasn't played well against us going back to his 1st season. Football is a game of what if's. We didn't have our best RB and were forced to modify the roster on the OL in order to have a back up at RB.
Either way, it was a 4 point game and we won the season series. That may make a difference at the end of the season.

Disagree, Rourke is good but can't touch us (yet)
The way we played we beat em regardless
Our D ATE
Nothing lucky about our success. It's based on hard work, talent and continuity.

sure and facing a much lesser opponent at the most important position in football. It's OK to catch the odd break, nothing wrong and doesn't take anything away from the team and like I said with Rourke in there our offence may have even played better.
Toronto won a Grey Cup because Zach ripped open his finger and the coaches didn't take him out of the game and refused to use the most outstanding player in the country.

Disagree, we didn't need the break but yes we took it!
Disagree with your take on the Grey Cup, we lost because all three phases and coaching was terrible
Give Toronto credit they rolled over us, they were a good team that played well
Finger was icing on the cake, it was already baked
Luck wasn't a factor in either case imo
We played lights out 1st two games and laid an egg in the cup

Beat themselves? Really?
"Couldn't stop the run" means our Oline was firing, handling one of the highest paid DLines in the league. And we were using our backup RB most of the game.
"Gave up 5 turnovers in the 2nd" means that our D was on fire. Our O wasn't very productive, but it did more than enough considering how the D was handinling the Lions.
Yeah, we won those games. Not pretty, but we had the tools to dominate, the scores did not properly portray the games.

Disagree we played well, you are not giving us enough credit. Agree the real tests are coming.
calgary is brutal, sask will be a better test though
