Blue Bombers sign 6th overall draft selection Connor Shay
WINNIPEG, MB., May 13, 2025 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed their first selection, 6th overall in the 2025 CFL Draft, linebacker Connor Shay.
Shay (6'2", 232, University of Wyoming; born Feb 2, 2002 in Danville, California) emerged as a key defensive player for the University of Wyoming Cowboys during the 2024 season. In his senior year, Shay started all 12 games at weak-side linebacker, amassing 76 total tackles (45 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one interception. His Canadian heritage - through his father, Chuck Shay, who was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. - have contributed to his eligibility for National status in the CFL.
Great news! Hopefully he is a real gamer.

Thank you Admin - I am finally back online. Never retire and turn in your laptop before you copy everything over to a personal device. Yikes! Can anyone tell me about this guy?

Hi BBRT. There was lots of chatter about him on the draft thread, and maybe he had his own too? Do a forum search on "Connor", I don't think we've ever had a player with that exact name/spelling.
Seems like an athletic baller, tweener LB, MOS said he had high football IQ, can range the width of the field, etc. Dude seems to have his head on straight in his interview.
I really like the fact he didn't screw around with too much NFL nonsense (cough cough Ford). Just chose to come up here and ball in WPG instead.

Glad to see you back up here! :)
