Title: Sources: Winnipeg Blue Bombers agree to terms with RB/returner Peyton Logan
Post by: Sir Blue and Gold on February 03, 2025, 01:50:43 AM
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms with American running back and returner Peyton Logan and, barring anything unforeseen, he's expected to sign a two-year contract with the team, per sources.

The 26-year-old played in 14 games last season for the Calgary Stampeders, recording 28 kickoff returns for 635 yards, 40 punt returns for 539 yards and one touchdown, 61 carries for 355 yards and one touchdown, plus 23 receptions for 121 yards.

Logan has spent all three of his CFL seasons with the Stamps. He's suited up in 36 games while recording 69 kickoff returns for 1,580 yards and one touchdown, 136 punt returns for 1,501 yards and one touchdown, 136 carries for 889 yards and five touchdowns along with 42 receptions for 274 yards.

Hasn't he been injured a lot?

I get so confused with all the past CFL returners named Logan... this is like the 3rd one, right?

However, this is a very good move to get us a legit returner who also is a free dress as an IMP backup RB.  It's a better use of the AR slot than a "one trick pony" J.Grant was (even though Grant is the better returner).

Does this hint we aren't re-upping Johnny?  That would be a bit surprising to me, unless Logan+Ike is considered "good enough" for backup-RB duty.

I was confused at first, but legit return candidate, so I think I'm stoked.

Great addition. As I've suggested for a few years, getting a returner that can actually be used more on offence ( when necessary ) or a change of pace, is a good idea.

Logan has value on both punt and K/O as well as a RB/ Receiver.

Fantastic signing, he's an explosive player that plays without fear, good combo of RB and returner.

Johnny has a different position on the team entirely.  And a different passport.  So I don't think the to are directly related.  I still see Johny back here if he wants to play ball this year.

IMO it will come down to what his cost becomes for 2025. If we can get him for $85K-$95K I'd probably be ok with that. I don't see an alternative for what he does at the moment.

We've added some players that will now play on ST coverage and returns which reduces his role.

Since we haven't re-signed him yet, it appears we not bring him back for one reason or another.

Not signing doesn't mean we aren't interested, or that he isn't interested.

He might just be testing out what other teams think of him, if there is an opportunity for a bigger, higher paying role elsewhere.

If nothing else comes along, then signing here is not the worst option for him, its still a great job even at under $100k/yr.

We're both speculating and this could swing either way. If he gets other offers, I expect he will be gone.

I get the love for Augustine but the writing is on the wall.

He's a decent player but SMS and creating opportunities for new draft choices means some Canadians are displaced.

JA27 now has a real estate license, so this might factor into his decision this off season.

I'm not sure which way that would influence him.  Real estate isn't a job you have to clock in for every day.  I would think it is the perfect mix for a football career.  Get paid close to $100k for 6 months, and then sell some houses sounds perfect.

Didn't realize Fatboi is also a licensed agent...

Depends where he's sell real estate. If he set up in Ontario, he might want to sign with an Ontario based team.

Yes, that is true, if he has an option.  He's from Welland, so if Goviea has a need, there's Hamilton...

Jake lives on the east coast, so I guess there is no "local" team to sign with, so staying where he knows is best.

Jake sells real-estate back home in the off-season, don't think he's involved in Wpg.

Logan is a great dangerous threat on O and ST. Great signing if can stay healthy.
