Title: Lock down Tony Jones
Post by: TecnoGenius on October 31, 2024, 02:34:01 AM
I'm guessing Jones was signed only to a rest-of-season contract.  Extend that guy immediately.  Get him on a 2-year at reasonable money.  Quick, before other teams figure out they want him too!

It doesn't matter what happens with Biggie (or even Kyrie), we can use Jones regardless.  He's proven he's great at WILL and MLB.  I can see him being the future #1 starter.  And he's even great on ST.  I want that guy on the field.

We have a knack for finding the gems amongst other teams' rejects, particularly EDM ones.  Jones is yet another great find.

Agree 100%. Has been a stud. Boogie should be the next Mike Miller and coach.

Great find. He needs to be a mainstay on defense going forward.

Yes, he's been a very good player this year. Bring him back.

Shouldn't take much to make him happy, he revealed on Ed Tait's Huddle Podcast he played a season in the Arena League for the Iowa Barnstormers for $160 per game + food coupons and shared accomodation with teammates.  Think about that, it might not be below min. wage/hr. worked in Iowa but it's disturbing nonetheless.

Agree. LB's need to be durable, Wilson and Biggie constantly hurt, let them go and sign Jones and spend $$$ elsewhere

Cut from Edmonton, signed by the Bombers.

It's interesting to see (a) why his previous team saw little reason to keep him and (b) the fact the Bombers saw something in Jones and (c) how he has flourished under the coaching and talent of his Bomber teammates.

It has always amazed me how this dynamic works.

No idea why Edmonton would cut him. He had played well for them the year before. But Chris Jones would run through three rosters full of players every year, so just good fortune on our part.

Nyles Morgan. Chris Jones felt Nyles was a better fit for there team.

Morgan 2023: 15 Games, 107 DTs.  2024: 18 Games 111 DTs.

You could tell from watching Jones at practice that he was intelligent and was picking up the D quickly. He had the size and all the tools to play MLB. And then, AB4 and Wilson get injured.

Best/worst accent in any movie/anytime.  Teddy KGB is played perfectly.  The accent is so horrible it is hilarious, but fits the persona perfectly.

Also the discovery of Western MOR Nick Anderson who posted really good numbers for a rookie LB.

Yeah, teams release good players all the time based on those above him on the depth chart as part of the reason. Jones was only going into his 3rd year coming off an ELC. He wasn't going to be getting a big salary increase going into 2024.

Jones is going to be offered more and we'll make him a fair and competitive offer. I don't see him widely sought after in free agency. Lots of good LB's on other teams.

I swear MOS/KW (and the coords) have a little notebook the write little notes into any time they spot a non-star player that looks like Bomber material.  Then they sit back and wait until the guy is cut or PRed and then pounce.

They only score once every couple of years, but when they do, it's usually game changing.
