Receiver Cameron Echols returns for Stampeders vs. Ticats
By 3Down Staff -October 17, 2024
Rookie receiver Cameron Echols will be back in action for the Calgary Stampeders on Friday, two weeks after suffering a scary head injury against the B.C. Lions.
The 29-year-old had to be taken to hospital for evaluation after he sustained a substantial blow along the sideline while returning a kickoff in the fourth quarter. Echols appeared to be unconscious on the field and had to be carted off with assistance.
Prior to the injury, Echols had played in 10 games for the Stampeders and recorded 27 catches for 335 yards and three touchdowns. Canadian pass catcher Cole Tucker (hamstring) will sit out this week, accommodating his teammate's return.
Running back and returner Peyton Logan will not play this week. The 25-year-old has carried the ball 57 times for 335 yards and a touchdown in a rotational capacity while catching 23 passes for 121 yards in 13 games. He has also returned 31 punts for 448 yards and a major, along with 26 kickoff returns for 559 yards.
American defensive tackle Jaylon Hutchings will make his first career start after being signed less than two weeks ago, while veteran Canadian defensive back Nick Statz will return to the lineup. Linebacker Darius Williams (wrist) will sit out.
The Calgary Stampeders (4-11-1) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-10) on Friday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Rookie RB Greg Bell returns for Ticats vs. Stamps
By 3Down Staff -October 17, 2024
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are getting one of the CFL's most exciting young playmakers back in the rotation this week.
Rookie running back Greg Bell is slated to return to the lineup after missing the last game with a rib injury. In six appearances, the 26-year-old has carried 68 times for 399 yards and five touchdowns. He has also caught 25 passes for 208 yards through the air and another score.
As a result, veteran James Butler will go back to being a healthy scratch. In 11 games this season, the two-time thousand-yard rusher has notched 110 carries for 522 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching 45 passes for 372 yards and another score.
Defensively, the Ticats will be without one of the game's best cornerbacks, Jamal Peters (neck). In 14 games this year, the lockdown man has collected 38 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, and four interceptions. Jonathan Moxey will take over at boundary corner, while Carthell Flowers-Lloyd gets the nod at strong-side linebacker.
Returning to the lineup will be defensive end Nick Usher, who has notched 30 defensive tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in 15 games. Linebacker D.Q. Thomas will also step in with Kyle Wilson active but nursing an Achilles injury.
Defensive linemen Tim Ward and Deionte Knight have been returned to the practice roster, while Canadian Evan Johnson will dress as a seventh offensive lineman.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-10) will host the Calgary Stampeders (4-11-1) on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Praying CGY finds their mojo and blows HAM away and looks like a GC contender! Then they cream SSK at home after the bye!!
One can dream... and this is the CFL!
Go Schiltz!

Cuz a Rider loss is always a good thing. ;D
CGY INT is going to hurt them. There's the problem with the dink & dunk. Often you eventually get a kerplunk.
They were on a good drive there, too. Hard running will help them.
Nice shank, Grace. Give HAM another 7.
Bo...... what's happening?
threading the needle.
Calgary is embarrassing themselves. Hufnagel with his head in his hands. What a collapse of a once-great, proud organisation.
BLM is loving sticking it to his former club. I wonder if this is going to get ugly soon.
probably going to be some significant changes in Calgary after this season.

Too late.
Calgary playing like a team with no pride just wishing the season would end. How can you keep a coach whose team plays like that (in any capacity)
Quote from: gobombersgo on October 18, 2024, 11:55:58 PMToo late.
LOL! I mean is it going to devolve into chippiness and nastiness, maybe some major fouls. It's a 4 TD lead now and Hammy is still pressing. Someone on the Stamp side is going to snap soon I fear.

I was thinking the same thing. This team has quit on Dickie now and Huffer knows it. I can see Dickie moving upstairs permanently and a new HC brought in next season.
impressive what a qb can do with zero pressure
Sure is. I'd love to be pitching footballs against that Calgary team today. Never seen a softer secondary.
Schiltz not making a case so far for employment next year, have to feel bad for him
that blm pass is a candidate for worst pass of the year
BLM counting his TDs for all to see. He's still a tool.
Now he throws a pick-six.
What an arrogant POS.
Nice interview, BLM. May as well have asked him, "Are you the biggest narcissist in the CFL?" BLM answers, "Hell yeah!"
I wonder if Milanovich sits BLM in the second half. :D
Quote from: J5V on October 19, 2024, 12:32:49 AMI wonder if Milanovich sits BLM in the second half. :D
If BLM intends to play another year as it looks like he will, Powell should be looking seriously at moving on in F.A. It seems dumb for Milanovich to treat a young QB so poorly, especially after being eliminated from the playoffs. Who is padding Bo's stats. benefitting?
Betya Houston wishes he had stayed in WPG for $25k less pay! Is all this pain worth the extra bit of money?
Ask Kenny when he was an Elk.

Not only that, but no playoff bonus.
I'm not sure Demario is good enough to be a starter in the Bomber secondary.

Agree, that was childish and unprofessional.
He's always been a self centred jerk. Just throw the ball man, you're supposed to throw touchdowns, act like you've done it before.
Dickenson's job is not safe. Either a demotion to HC only or he's out all together. Lapo might be a choice in Calgary or Edmonton after the season.

If they give Dave the choice of roles, I can't see him choosing the HC job as it looks like he's lost control of the locker room. Infighting between vets and younger players has become an ongoing problem as the incident last night with Cam Judge on the sidelines showed once again. Better to start fresh with a HC that all players respect or fear.
The Stamps need a refresh at HC, move/hide Dickie in head office somewhere and bring someone new in. Demote Killam as assistant HC to ST only.

Yeah, I agree. Judging by their last performance I'd say Dave Dickenson has clearly lost the room. Maybe the players got sick of listening to DD whining at the refs all game long as much as the rest of us.
If I recall correctly, it was Dickie that sent BLM packing and he hooked his wagon to Maier who was supposed to be the next superstar Qb...well Maier got benched and BLM lead the league in passing....that should get Dickie canned. I think the players turned on him when he benched Maier for Schiltz and Bonner, both who were gawd awful, which shows the cupboards are bare in terms of Qb's in Calgary. The new HC should insist that they get VA in free agency and not some other re-tread from another team ie MBT.

There is no doubt Dickie is responsible for the Stamps being the CFL's bottom dwellers. Imagine being in a room with Dickie and BLM. LOL!
I'm not going to hang the whole BLM thing on Dickie though. I think Dickie and maybe even Huffer are disciples of Wally Buono's philosophy on player retention. BLM was playing like crap when Dickie got rid of him. Who knew he'd re-invent himself in Hamilton or how many good years he has left?
This was a game between two bad teams.

Killam has been promised HC for years. That's why he stayed year after year when many teams wanted to look at him for HC.
Killam will be their next HC, whether this off-season or next. If they screw over Killam he's gone.

Ditching BLM was the right move. He was hot garbage. And he was hot garbage for at least a whole year after leaving.
The mistake wasn't canning BLM, it was hooking their wagon to Maier. And a second mistake by not changing course after about his first 8 starts. Then again, when BLM left and for at least a season after there was a real shortage of healthy, capable and good #1's. CGY may have had no choice: and Maier has always been SMS-friendly.
This FA should offer a lot more in the way of possible #1 QBs. We'll see what CGY does.

You can bet Huffer will be making some major moves. I have rarely seen him in as foul a mood as he was during that beat-down courtesy the Hamilton Tiger Cats. It was a battle of basement dwellers and it wasn't close. The 42-20 scoreline flattered Calgary. That was an old fashioned arse kicking.

Do you think killam, who is part of the present locker room, is going to change the culture he's been a part of for many years?? I don't. Calgary needs a reset and sorry me killam, but you're just as much part of the problem as you are the solution. If he goes, c est la vie, who the heck is go8ng to make a ST coach of the worst team in the league a head coaching position?? Nobody.

It'd be hilarious if they promoted Craig Dickenson back to HC.

Yes. I bet Killam is biting his tongue sitting in waiting behind a clearly incompetent Dickenson The Greater. Plus, he was promised this back when CGY was still good... he's been waiting a loooong time. In for a penny, in for a pound.
My money stays on Killam.

Haha, ya, no. The Lesser is only there because The Greater likes him some nepotism. If Greater is moved upstairs, Lesser may stay, but if Greater is outright fired (unlikely) then Lesser will be gone too.
CGY has always been very slow, methodical and inflexible with their coaching staff. It worked well when they were good. But I think it's hurting them now that they suck. I'm pretty sure any other team would have canned Dickenson The Greater a season or more ago.
CGY fans must be livid (and or quitting en masse).

The question is, will Huff fire anyone? Has Huff ever fired anyone?
