Tough to picture Hammy winning ever agin this year.
TOR wasn't looking great, even with Kelly back. Better than with Dukes or The Pirate, but still not great. However, do they improve with Kelly getting more reps? Or are they just stuck in mediocrity. That is the big question.
If HAM is going to pull off wins, they should do it at home as that crowd is getting restless. Have the players given up for the year? Or will they find some heart? C.Jones D was much improved from the old D...
I suppose TOR is motivated to get ahead of OTT for the better playoff spot, so there's that.

Cats always get up for games against the Argos. They'll have their best game of the year. Remains to be seen whether it'll be good enough.

Ticats re-insert OL Jordan Murray for Labour Day Classic
By 3Down Staff -September 1, 2024
The struggling Hamilton Tiger-Cats have made another flurry of roster moves ahead of their Labour Day Classic clash with the Toronto Argonauts, including re-inserting a head-scratching healthy scratch into the lineup.
Right tackle Jordan Murray will return to the starting position he was expected to cement himself into after returning from the NFL last season. The 27-year-old missed the start of this season with injury before returning for four starts, only to be benched the past few weeks in favour of rookie Quinton Barrow. With Barrow (knee) now ruled out, Murray will step back in to the lineup.
Also getting back into the rotation after being a healthy scratch is linebacker Carthell Flowers-Lloyd, the CFL's 2023 leader in special teams tackles. After recording a whopping 31 takedowns last year, he has dressed for just six games this season and three special teams tackles.
Other depth pieces returning to the lineup include Canadian receiver Tyler Ternowski, rookie linebacker Daniel Bell, and 2024 first-round offensive lineman Nathaniel Dumoulin-Duguay. Sitting down for the QEW rivalry are Canadian defensive back Robert Panabaker, offensive lineman Evan Johnson, and defensive lineman Benoit Marion, as well as American receiver Dezmon Patmon.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-9) will host the Toronto Argonauts (6-4) for the Labour Day Classic on Monday, September 2 at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Argos' punter John Haggerty a game-time decision for Labour Day Classic
The Toronto Argonauts could be without punter John Haggerty's services for the second straight week as he continues to battle a back injury.
The 29-year-old Australian is listed as a game-time decision after he was unable to punt a week ago, leaving kicker Lirim Hajrullahu to unexpectedly handle both jobs. Haggerty was able to stay in uniform and handle holding duties for Toronto to meet the CFL's Global player requirement.
The Western Kentucky product is in his third season with Toronto and was named an East Division all-star as a rookie in 2022. He enters Week 13 second in the CFL for both gross (52.4) and net (39.8) punting average.
If Haggerty is unable to dress, the Argonauts will have to call up another Global player from the practice roster with German defensive lineman Thiadric Hansen still on the six-game injured list. Kicker Alfredo Gachuz Lozada of Mexico, punter Jeremy Edwards of Australia, and defensive lineman Baptiste Pollier of France are the three currently under contract.
Toronto has otherwise made no official changes to their lineup from Week 12. 11 players remain on the team's six-game injured list including Hansen and fellow defensive lineman Jared Brinkman and Jordan Williams, linebackers Wynton McManis and Daniel Kwamou, defensive backs Jonathan Edouard and Jamie Harry, receivers Dejon Brissett and Tommy Nield, and offensive linemen Darius Ciraco and Gregor MacKellar.
The Toronto Argonauts (6-4) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-9) for the Labour Day Classic on Monday, September 2 at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

If the Ti Cats lose today they'll be looking at 2025. Changes and an airlift will begin. Might be a team that looks to start making trades and gaining some SMS room for free agency.
I wonder what it would take to get C. Sayles back? Money aside he may be looking to get out of Hamilton to a team more likely to win some games.
Argos are only five point favourites. I predict the Argos will win by two or three - touchdowns.
Easy money?

Don't need him, don't want him, probably can't afford him. Stick with the good young crop of DT's they have now, Adams, Woods, Fox, Schmeck and Samson, should be good for a number of years.
Can't decide who I want to lose more, C Kelly or Milanovich. Probably Kelly... But Milanovich is a close second.
Who's going to be HAM main guy next year Powell or BLM?

VAJ isn't scheduled to be a free agent. They'd have to trade to get him. That might be a possibility but aside from draft choices what might they give up.

Probably too expensive over and above having to give ups something. He's a dominate DT so it's wrong to suggest we don't need him. Our interior DL is still not that good.
He has more DT's and sacks then Thomas and Woods combined in 1 game less. He's a flat out difference maker.
Well I'd be going after someone as staying with blm changes nothing for Hamilton, perennial cellar dwellers with him under centre

Lions will want to trade him out of the west. Ti Cats look to be the only option to do that. In that sense it lowers his trade value. Calgary might be interested if Maier tanks the rest of the season. But that will be a lesser choice location for the Lions.
That is a teeny tiny amount of contact
Dinwiddie wasted his challenge on the second play of the game.
He didn't even get advice from upstairs - not smart
Loving the No Means No chant. Maybe it'll throw CK off his game.
Nice TD! Love it.
bo with a dime to white...TD after the pick by Kelly
Love it! Dimwiddie whines and ticats score!
From Dan Ralph:
Late lineup changes for Ticats. LB DQ Thomas and DL Luke Brubacher have been scratched. LB Ray Wilborn and S Patrick Burke Jr. been added to roster. Also, DB Jonathan Moxey listed as nationalized American on defence.

Hahaha Michael Bishop knocked himself out running into the back of his offensive lineman once. Chad Kelly tried his best.

"Cool" and "creative"

Exceptional play calling for Hammy
Like putting the kid in at QB, nice!

A trio of love for Bo ;)

So the name for that play is bobolo. Nice catch by O'Learly-Orange.
Demise of the Ti Cats delayed for another week. They did outplay the Argos today and deserved the win.
Note: Argos probably lost Amos to a hand or shoulder injury. It looked like his hand might have been in a bad spot when he made that tackle. Could have broken it? Argos may need to bring back Pierce after cutting him this week.

Agree the Cats deserved to win. Kelly did well at times but he is not the saviour. Bell was terrific running the ball and the Argos had no answer for him. BLM still showed inconsistency but made some very good throws today and it was enough.
Did anyone see BLM look into the camera after his big completion to O'Learly-Orange and remark "best backup in the league" followed by an eye-roll. He is a piece of work. lol. I can't see him and Milanovich co-existing on this team next season.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a HC throw a challenge that fast before.
He needs to hire Tecno to explain it to him! The new guidelines would never allow that to be overturned. Heck, it may even stand under 2023 rules. Dinwiddie is too impulsive and lacks control.
The Bell run 1Q8:20 where he should have been knocked down but keeps his balance is really amazing. By all rights he should have been falling to the turf. Too bad another DB got him after, as that would have made for an even better highlight reel.

I saw the flag and thought "did the referees throw a differnt color for some reason?"
Dinwiddie was right there, and depending on the angle, it did look like pass interference. But Ford made a good point that if you ignore the receiver falling, and just focus on the DB, it does not look as bad. I think techno is correct that they will not overturn a ruling on the field unless it is black and white and obviously wrong. The slightest bit of grey, and they will let it stand. I'm actually surprised the no yards challenge by Hamilton was successful. It was no yards, but probably only by 1/2 a yard or so.

I've just started watching today... but this game goes to show that betting on the CFL is a very difficult proposition. Crazy Football League.
Just look at our best pickems players... even they might have trouble coming out ahead because of the way the odds are set.
If I took a little mini-poll on Friday asking if you'd take the over or under on WPG@SSK, I bet nearly everyone picks the under! Meeeeeep -- wrong, it was the over!

HAM crowd really giving it to Kelly. 2nd Q some guy yelling over and over "Kelly, keep away from our cheerleaders".

Problem is he's only on for every 5th game this season it would seem. Still, better than last season!
HAM ate their wheaties today. TOR ate a turd.
Goes to show you really can never tell what you'll get in a CFL game! I knew HAM would up their game at home, but they've been hosed there many times this season, so I really thought they'd do it again today.

I measured one of Zach's deep shots vs SSK and it was 50Y actually in the air (no YAC). He's still got it. However, that may be the most range he's got now... but it's good enough! I think he shocked the DB who thought he could only throw 40 (as seemed his max for most of this season).

Not every successful CFL QB is going to have a Deiter Brock arm (see Ricky Ray). Zach's arm strength is fine.

You know who was the worst FA signing recently? Carey in TOR. He's been nearly useless and a really bad fantasy pick. I thought he was washed up 3 seasons ago, guess I was right. Hope these teams that sign him are getting him dirt dirt cheap. He hasn't been really good since CGY.

Great point! The league basically never overturns an uncalled no-yards. I posit you have to be within 3.5Y to get a no-yards overturned. It will be even more hopeless now that they need "clear and obvious" in the real-time view. I'd guess 90% of these uncalled NY challenges were upheld in the last 3 seasons.
However, I knew HAM would get this one because the returner was serendipitously exactly at a yard marker line! And since the angle to the offending coverage player was close to being straight downfield, you had a precise and easy "clear and obvious" reference to proving he was within 5. No guessing required.
