It was scary looking at the stadium. Any updates on what happened to him. I heard he is doing fine.
@Darren_Cameron
Just left the hospital after visiting with Stanley Bryant with some of his teammates and staff. He is awake and resting, and while further evaluation will continue tomorrow, he is doing okay. He listened to the final few minutes on @680CJOB and as soon as the final whistle blew, the phone rang: "Tell the boys congrats, I'm alright, and I love them."
Tweet send at 2AM.
Good to hear he is doing okay.
Was scary to watch, thought he was having cardiac issue's.
Speedy recovery and hope all is well!
They say now he was sick all week.
O'Shea said of Bryant.
"A combination of the heat and being sick. I think he was sick all week. And a short week. I just think it all added up [to] him not feeling good for a second."

While it sucks for the big guy, it surely is good news for him that it doesn't seem to be anything more serious. When I saw the IV I was hoping it was dehydration, and praying it wasn't a cardiac event.
Our offense took a massive hit when big Stan went down. He is then MVP of our offense. Our O line was in disarray without him. Get well soon Stanley!!

Wonder why the heck it took them so long to cart Stan off the field, was he experiencing motion sickness? Threw the timing of the game and my schedule off about 1/2 hour.
@Darren_Cameron
Stanley Bryant has been released from hospital and has returned home. He is feeling considerably better, and wanted to extend a thank you to everyone across the CFL, specifically the amazing fans here in Manitoba, for their concern and compassion.

It's better to use caution than to expedite him off the field. There were a number of personnel assisting and they couldn't get everybody and all the equipment into a moving ambulance.
The game was irrelevant at that point.

Guy is suffering something serious you'd think they take all the time needed to ensure the players well being. Your comment is just sad.
Awesome he was only heat stroke symptoms, and nothing that coolness and water couldn't cure.
I am also type two diabetic and high blood pressure. Once the temp with high humidity it's, heat stroke symptoms seem very quick. Temp and humidity drop, and I for one feel incredibly better.
I think I mentioned before, that in Phoenix when the temp reaches a certain point, trecreational games start at 8:00 pm. That was on a community field with lights near my Residence inn, downtown. I understood why, as the temp and humidity, dropped noticeably from sun up.
Glad he is OK. Immediately thought of potential replacements..how's Neuf doing"
Sounds like it was a momentary issue, and that there shouldn't be long term issues. He was sick all week, likely a cold or flu, they would have said COVID if that was it, those aren't really the symptoms, though.
These guys fight though illnesses. But I was watching him play on the PVR before he went down, and he was definitely struggling. Not sure how Costello, Buck, or Osh did not notice. He was at 50% speed, not following through on blocks, just not playing like Big Unk. Its the coaches job to notice that, especially if he's been sick all week. It should not have gotten to the point of collapse. Sorry if i sound unsympathetic, but a coach has to protect a player from himself. Even a veteran leader needs someone to tap him on the shoulder to prevent him hurting himself. He was in danger of getting seriously hurt if called upon to make a play.
Very happy that he is at home feeling better, and look forward to seeing him on the field as soon as he feels right.
Would be a weird LDC/BB without both Stan and Yoshi on the field.

I knew it, that situation looked classic flu to me.
The problem with that though is that anyone near that vomit explosion now has a good chance of catching it too. That's literally the worst thing to be around from a flu patient. Let's hope the guys who jumped back did so very quickly, and weren't downwind. We don't need a LDC with half the players sick.

I rewatched the game watching the OL carefully. When Stan left we actually held together pretty well. Kudos to them.
But when Wallace also left, then it all went to shambles. Just too much changing too fast. And then Feltmate got hurt and we were really down to nothing for jumbo sets. It was pretty much straight up 5 protection, 5 R out after that. Someone said maybe Clercius was coming in on protection sometimes but I didn't see it much.
Amazing we managed an O drive to win.

If he was sick already all week as they said, then if he rests all of this week he should be good to go this weekend. I would think they would be pressing to get him back. Randolph has been lights out at RG, but clearly showed he's no LT (yet?).
You're right, Aards, while he played those first few snaps he basically did his block then stopped: no follow through or energy. He knew something wasn't quite right.
I'm just glad he's ok.....football is a game and his health takes precedence over and above the game.

Except in the post-season! ;) ;) ;)
My question is WHY WAS HE EVEN STARTING if ill all week?! They must have known this prior to the game and with the weather conditions certainly knew him lasting the game was iffy. Either Stanley did not let on how bad he was feeling or the training staff goofed up here. He lasted what, a series or two? A bit bizarre.
I know what heat and sun stroke feels like. You become dizzy/light headed and lose energy quickly. I did not throw up, but my stomach did not feel too good. Mild heat stroke I cooled off in cool shower for like 15+ minutes to get my body temperature down, at least on the surface. Sun stroke I was laid up for a day. Only bed or similar rest gets you over this and liquids in each case. This is why you must drink more fluids in big heat and WEAR SOME HEAD COVERING!! A hot sun beating down on your scalp is not good for too long! ;)

I think the coaching staff leaves these decisions to the players in a lot of cases when fighting an illness, Stanley probably thought and said he was good to go.

Yeah we each know our own body the best, so he probably thought he could handle it. If training staff saw him up-chucking prior to the game though, then it should have been checked into (and maybe was). I HAVE NO IDEA what occurred pre-game.

I bet he's never had anything like that happen his entire life. So why would he expect to not be able to handle it now? He'll probably give it more pause in the future...

I have endured heat stroke coupled with dehyration, collapsed and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Was up and at it the next day. I'm not suggesting everyone is the same but the symptoms will likely not linger if treated properly.

He's never missed a game before. He probably has played in the past when he was not feeling well. So he pushed himself further than he was capable of this week. Unfortunate but glad he's feeling better.
I have a few criticisms about OShea but not putting players above the game is not one of them.
No way a team leader and seasoned vet is going to let a little tummy flu stop him from taking the field. Its not in their psyche. They will tell themselves they can play though it,
And no way that OShea had any idea he was that bad, that's the issue with this kind of illness. Its not like a hamstring where you can see it affecting the player. And it can go from "I feel a little off" to puking on the field in very short order.
Add to that, every year that goes by, we get less able to handle the little stuff. And the little stuff becomes big stuff. And we have never been in that position before.
Its just good to hear he is on the mend, and hopefully he didn't get anyone else sick. It would suck having the rest of the oline puking in Regina
The thing with prepping to play, is that he's done it all his life. Y
Getting back to heat stroke, it comes upon. U pretty quick. And then you see stars get wobbly, and could faint. In my case getting out of the sun getting an intravenous should get. Him back up to speed.
Hopefully nothing else
I am not expecting SB66 to practice tomorrow. I am sure he will be around for the hand shakes and the stretching part of practice. Hell, he might even take over the war cry from AB4. The good news, it's going to be a much cooler week for practice.

Heat stroke can be debilitating, it sneaks up on you and overwhelms your brains ability to think rationally. It acts like a shut down switch, makes you stop all activity and want to lay down.
Stanley doesn't need to practice much at this point in his career.

Take it easy Charlie, I was referring to the VPN recording schedule it missed the final 20 minutes of the game. I heard the Bombers won?

Makes it worse, I thought it threw off the timing of the game for you as you watched it live in person. One of the all time Bomber greats on the OL has a medical emergency and you complain about how it threw off your recording of a sports match? Hmmmm.....
Sounds like your next step should be to complain to the Bombers and make the suggestion to rush injuried players off field so that no recording will be compromised in the future.
Player safety is the priority of any responsible sports league. Looked to be such a serious injury and so far it's good news on a quick recovery.

If I'm MOS I'm telling Big Stan to stay home and sleep/veg in bed all day. Only when he's fully 100% should he be anywhere near a field. The only thing that beats a virus is sleep (and fluids).

I set the comp PVR to record 45 mins extra after every game. If the forecast has a chance of rain I change that to 2 extra hours.
It's funny, but with all this tech, we still don't have a way to have the PVRs auto-extend recording for CFL games, and fans still have to miss the exciting finishes.
anyone know the health update on Stanley?? Is he up and around or still laid up?? Any notion of him playing this weekend or is gulp, someone else going to stand in the left tackle position and whiff on the D End play after play??

Like most players his age he has not lost a step, but three or four. That said he is better than 90% of the lineman in the league even at his age. I would hate to see him leave but I know it is coming sooner than later.
He will be fine but ghat was a good scare.

Haha, that's basically the size of it! That's literally what happens when Big Stan is out (the rare times that occurs, usually only for a couple of snaps).
There is no playoff scenario for us if Big Stan isn't anchoring the blind side.

I've been watching the OL more intently than usual this season, because of all their personnel changes and woes... Big Stan is the best one, and the one who least screws up.
I'm pretty sure he's still the best LT in the league. Name one better?!
I think costing Nichols his entire career made Big Stan work twice as hard to make sure that never happens again. The worst he seems to do lately is take some uncharacteristic HTF penalties.
Great to hear Big Stan is likely to return to battle this week! We need him. :)

Ditto...I always add an extra 30-60 minutes to any game I record due to possible weather issues, injury delays or overtime or whatever! You just never know and it's not exactly like I'm pushing my DVR to the max with storage space. TONS OF SPACE. I'm lucky if I ever hit 50% full!
