"Fatty" has been a major disappointment after early success in Calgary. Never amount to much in Ottawa or Toronto and whomever else was on his team list. I don't like the Argos chances upon hearing this news. Might have to change my pick for this week.
Ottawa is us no favours. Can OL' Wolfie Eyes and is band of mary sailors?
Loved to see Dickie lose his crap yet again.
Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde with this Stamps team this year. Heads I win....tails you lose! :) I like those odds! :D

Roster notes; Calgary Stampeders, August 9 at Toronto
Add to roster;
OL Kyle Saxelid
DB Nick Statz
Remove from roster;
To PR; FB Lucas Robertson, DB Kaelyn St. Cyr
ROSTER ANALYSIS: Pretty stable roster for the Stampeders. Looking forward to seeing backup OL Kyle Saxelid make his Stamps debut. Big takeaway is the fact there are no changes in the running back or receiver spots. Obviously, Logan, Hyman and Echols impressed on Sunday.
Stamps dress single running back, no fullbacks for rematch with Argos
By 3Down Staff -August 8, 2024
The Calgary Stampeders will have no insurance in the backfield for their rematch with the Toronto Argonauts on Friday.
For the second straight week, the team is expected to dress Peyton Logan as the only running back on the roster, leaving them vulnerable in the event of injury. However, this week fullback Lucas Robertson has been demoted to the practice squad as well, meaning there will not be a single additional backfield player available for insurance.
Should Logan, who has rushed for 121 yards on 18 carries this year, go down, the Stampeders would be expected to turn to Canadian receiver Jalen Philpot. The former Calgary Dino has seen occasional usage out of the backfield and carried 20 times for 173 yards in 22 career CFL games.
Replacing Robertson on jumbo packages will be seventh offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid, who is dressing for the first time this year. In other roster moves, the team has swapped Canadian defensive back Nick Statz in, sending his rookie counterpart Kaylyn St-Cyr to the practice roster.
Canadian defensive back and 2024 first-round pick Ben Labrosse will be a healthy scratch this week after recovering from an ankle issue. He will join a trio of Americans in defensive tackle Charles Wiley, offensive tackle Josh Coker, and receiver Tre Odoms-Dukes as available players on the one-game injured list.

Argos to start QB Nick Arbuckle for rematch with Stamps, Cameron Dukes a game-time decision
By 3Down Staff -August 8, 2024
The Toronto Argonauts appear to have made a switch at the quarterback position for Friday's rematch with the Calgary Stampeders.
Nick Arbuckle has been listed as the starter on the team's official depth chart, making his first start of the year despite coming off the bench in relief on several occasions. He has completed 24-of-42 passes this season for 240 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Cameron Dukes, who has started the prior eight games this season for the Argos, is listed as a game-time decision with a leg injury. The second-year pivot has completed 137-of-190 passes for 1,398 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions, while rushing for 294 yards and three majors.
Whoever is at quarterback will be without right guard Gregor MacKellar (toe) after he was placed on the six-game injured list. Rookie Anthony Vandal, a 2023 eighth-round pick, will make his first career start as a replacement with veteran Dylan Giffen dressing for depth. Backup Canadian running back Daniel Adeboboye (groin) will be a game-time decision.
Starting Canadian weakside linebacker Fraser Sopik (shoulder) will also be a game-time decision, with American backup Isaac Darkangelo coming onto the roster as insurance. Canadian defensive back Tunde Adeleke will also make his Argonauts debut, replacing American Mark Milton.

Done. Thanks for the heads up!
The Argos beat us but they've lost to the Riders and the Stamps. That needs to change.
Anyone watching? I'm a bit behind. All I can say is, GO TOR!!! The less points that go to west teams, the better
TD Argos! Nice drive.
argos outphysicalling stamps so far
I didn't see any RTP there. Geez.
I guess the defender needed to put it in reverse, it looked clean to me..but leads to a stamp td
Argo D sucks.
Begelton is gonna feast on these Argo Dbacks.
Did they kick it away from Grant there? Must have.
argos defence got stripped in the last year,
Picket, Oakman, Barlow, Jamal Peters, Hendrix, Stiggers, Williams and now McManus hurt..not the same team at all
How did we lose to this Argos team. Good grief.
Quote from: J5V on August 09, 2024, 11:57:41 PMI didn't see any RTP there. Geez.
Ya that's no RTP. Not late, not head, not hard, no weight-followthru.
Oh well, it's Andre's crew... so #22 probably flagged it. Guess we know what team they are getting paid to get a win for! ;)
I think Begelton had that.
another f**king horrible call ..lol At least the officials are evening them out

And no Mace...
can not criticize the refs, or you get fined,
but dave dickensen can sneer, scowl get visibly angry at the ref on the sideline during the game.
makes no sense.
I am surprised that no team has made good use of the two qb rule yet.
no its just that stupid 3rd dwn play both dickenson and dimwiddie are the only ones that use it
OMG, the Argos can't tackle.
I do that like little flip forward play, we should use it with lUcky
Maier does hang his recievers out to dry, surprised they aren't injured more
Stamps gamble on third and three and make it easily. SMH
Argo D is just swiss cheese
I didn't see anything there. I guess that means the CC will call DPI.
Seems like Stamps can pretty much say whatever they want to the officials. Begeleton seems to call for a penalty every play hes involved in
yeah, beggelton is on field dickensen.
not sure why, or,if that is within the rules.
arbuckle s worse than dukes.
argos have decided tackling is optional today.
Carey with the alligator arms over the middle.
Who is the best Argo receiver?
arbuckle showing why hes a career 3rd string qb

I hope they put Dukes back in for the second half.
I still can't understand how we lost to these Argos. They are awful.
Grant running sideways on his kick returns. Head North-South, son.
janarion seems to have been figured out.
I guess Polk is the "stud" Argo receiver.
Perfect. Arbuckle serves up a duck for the INT.
argos playing like they are waiting for Kelly before they try.
massive hole on the d line on the td run. what the?
Kelly's not gonna help their D though.
Quote from: markf on August 10, 2024, 12:49:02 AMmassive hole on the d line on the td run. what the?
MASSIVE hole. You or I could have run through that hole.
Number sten?
Why would Dinwiddie tell Arbuckle to take a knee there with 3 seconds left? Why wouldn't you throw a deep one and hope for a flag, maybe get a DPI and kick a FG. If it gets picked it's like a punt and the half is over. Dinwiddie playing to lose for some reason.
Grant almost broke that. Wow!
guess I was wrong about janarion.
wow tsn ios app is quite bad.
Carey fumbled that.
Dickenson needs to be fined for excessive whining.
dickensen is an embarrassment.
and his players mimic his waving arms and yelling.
Quote from: J5V on August 10, 2024, 12:09:56 AMI think Begelton had that.
Yup. He was in the air so he had to survive contact with the ground. He did, then shortly after the TOR guy batted it out. To me that's a catch.
But knowing command lately, Dickenson The Greater knew they'd rob him if he challenged.
The Argos only chance of winning this game is for the Stamps to actually be worse than them. Maier fumbles, good start.
Both of these teams are awful.
Steady parade of flags against the Argos.
Now Arbuckle fumbles. Two terrible teams.
got some bare spots on the lawn I could use the divot on maieier's helmet for
my stream is minutes behind.

Now the Stamps with a parade of penalties.
Dunigan really loves Maier. Why?
TD Grant!
Should go for two here.
Nice. Three point lead for the Argos.
FG Argos. 21-15 Argos. 1:50 left in the 3rd.
That was a perfect throw by Maier and Hyman was gone if he doesn't drop that.
I have no faith in this Argo D to hold Calgary.
argos putting on a clinic on how not to tackle and how to take penalties to shoot yourself in the foot
Begelton fishes
Well that was easy. 22-21 Stamps.
on the begelton run you could see a defender run up to tackle him, then thought,
ah, no.
there's a lot of quit i this argo d.
worst game of the season.
Quote from: J5V on August 10, 2024, 12:38:19 AMWho is the best Argo receiver?
None. They are a horrible team for us fantasy players. Even their RBs are bad picks because they platoon all 3 of them.
Maybe Bailey was their best one, but he's gone now. (Yes, I know stats will say something else, but they really do have no "star" receiver.)
Atta boy, Jake! Pick-six! TD Argos!
lirim mixing it up 😂
I get really aggravated that the refs and command don't know the rules!
3Q12:09 the fake gamble drawing TOR offsides:
Rule 4 Scrimmage
Section 2 Method of Scrimmage
Article 2 Illegal Movement
Team A shall be subject to penalty for attempting to draw an opponent offside if:
(b) the quarterback, having assumed a stance with hands under the Centre, bobs the head, moves the shoulders or flexes the knees in a jerking motion without the ball being snapped
This is football reffing 101 here. It was obvious and clear in live time that Stevens bobbed his head doing his hard count. It is ridiculous that I sit here knowing this and all the refs there don't.
No one likes these dumb fake gambles that (only) TOR and CGY do. Don't reward them for starting to also cheat while doing it now!
yeah baby!
Wow! What a horrible third down gamble by the Stamps. LOL!
Massive hold by the Argos there with no call.
Calgary bench calls holding and the official throws the flag. Sad.
dimwiddie looks like his team is going to blow another one
Holy smokes are a ton of CFL games this year where there's like no O for most of the game. What has happened? Even our team is guilty of this. I don't recall this in previous seasons. Usually what you get is 3+ good games in a week and 0-1 clinkers. Lately they've almost all been clinkers. I can remember maybe 4-6 great barnstormers this year, usually involving BC.
I guess it's because once again almost every desired #1 QB is injured or suspended? Well, doesn't explain CGY, WPG, EDM, BLM (or OTT before this week) though. I guess you could say HAM's is washed up and OTT's is a noob, so their weak play is to be expected.
Still, it's disconcerting to see so many O snoozefests. I wonder what the stats say on drives ending in a punt vs TD this season vs past ones.
If you started in week 1 taking the under on every single game I bet you're up massive $$.
How was that not a penalty for RTP?
neither d can tackle
Carey doing his Begelton impression.
TD here would be huge.
😀
That's the ball game. Thank you, Argos.

Janarion and a defensive score will do that.

Argos give up the deep one. Figures.
always a good time when dave dickensen loses.
wow Maier looks unhappy.
Third and ten and they throw it nine yards. Well done, Jake.
Dickenson all smiles. I think he knows he was lucky to get a split in this back-to-back with the Argos. They really had no business winning the first game.

That Begelton dragging 6 guys 20Y to the almost-TD was a thing of beauty. Even more so because he's not a huge guy. He's built like Lawler and I can't see Lawler doing that. And I really wish he had made it all the way, too, because that would be even more amazing AND I have him in fantasy. ;D

Hmm .. take a closer look. He's built pretty solidly and I suspect he carries more muscle than Lawler. Would make a great Bomber. I'd love to pry him away from Calgary.
Quote from: J5V on August 10, 2024, 02:12:13 AMMassive hold by the Argos there with no call.
Holding in the CFL is so arbitrary and subjective. That one here wasn't too bad... he didn't pass the plane of the holder's body, so they often let that slide.
Boy, is that TOR Priester the one we had for a TC and a few games a few years back? He's turning into a legit player.
Quote from: J5V on August 10, 2024, 02:22:04 AMHow was that not a penalty for RTP?
A lot like the hit on Zach. If you show "good form" they are letting the H2H slide. Proulx was very keen to throw, had his hand sitting on the flag, but didn't throw it.
I think in any of these cases if you challenge you would win H2H RTP. My beef is that they claim to care about QB head hits and want to eliminate them, but refs/command are letting so many of these slide. Maybe Arbuckle should have done a little writhing first.

If you started in week 1 taking the under on every single game I bet you're up massive $$.
I have detailed drive numbers dating back to 2004. TDs are scored on 17.0% of all drives in 2024 which is 3rd best during this time.
Punts on 43.2% of drives is the 4th lowest but I see this category as more of a residual number than an indicator of anything.
1.78 points per drive is the best since 2004.

I don't have complete data for seasons prior to 2004 but the information that does exist suggests that we are seeing historically high numbers for points and TDs. What has changed over the years is a substantial decrease in the number of possessions/plays per game.

Thanks! I knew I could count on you, up nearly as late as myself! :)
So I wonder how much the start-at-40 (et al) impacted the stats recently though. Was that change in 2022? You can see how it bumped up the averages a bit in your chart.
So I also wonder why these games feel so meh then, this season? Many have commented on the poor quality of the games, especially in first halves. Maybe it's the wild & splashy endings they sometimes have? Is that making up for the bad games, stats-wise?
Take the SSK@OTT game: snoozefest loserfest all game until the very end then all heck breaks loose. I wonder how that skews the stats.
Do you have stats on 2&outs? Seems to be a lot more of those lately. Also # of punts in a game total.
It feels like a strange season, especially with the west basically wide open. Heck, other years we'd be completely doomed with the season start we just had. This year we could end #2-in-W easily.
Quote from: bomb squad on August 10, 2024, 03:39:11 AMJust took a look. Yup. A good maybe 10cm head bob. Should have been called.
Yup, you can use your voice all you want (hence why it's called "hard count"), but you can't make any motions when under C. It's very basic stuff, and I wonder why command didn't step in as they often do while the refs are huddling to decide if it was O/S or IP.
