Title: Calgary @ Montreal
Post by: J5V on July 06, 2024, 11:31:54 PM
How badly does Saskatchewan question their decision to part ways with Fajardo?

Yes, that cost them 3 points. Calgary winning the turnover battle early. Both Ds playing well but that Montreal D is very dynamic.

Emmons lowers the boom on Dequoy. Hard hitting game. We better be ready for Calgary next week. We're going to have our hands full.

I think so too. They are a step faster and far more physical than Montreal and that's saying something

Montreal has a few things go wrong that first half, they ll come back and make a game of this the second half

I agree. Montreal is like we were the last few years. Down but rarely out. Remember that Edmonton game for one.

We will finish ahead of Edmonton and possibly cross over. Nothing more.

Glad someone stood up and has taken on the Als, I was wondering if anyone would be capable of beating them.  They certainly haven't shown that they will beat themselves yet, showing no signs of complacency or arrogance.

Montreal has been a team that capitalized on big plays to win ball games. Calgary has done well to not have any explosion plays and is leading this game and will likely win it.

in slow motion, but at regular speed I dont think so, plus it wasnt a relatively hard tackle  and was clean

Somehow the league has to do something about qbs sliding at the last moment then drawing a rtp. If they want the protection qbs should have to slide earlier. vs sliding when the defender has already started his tackle

It looked like the Als were waiting for the officials to spot the ball on a hash mark vs centre of the field and the officials didn't move the ball, they get called for a time count and Angry Jason Maas showed up on the sideline!! And I don't blame him, get it right officials

Liked him when he played for the Elks, being a scat back pretty amazed he's done so well in Mtl, who'd of thunk he'd be more effective than Stanback.

Dequoy showing the only downside to a roving skinny speedster FS... don't take on guys 100 lbs heavier than you.  Dude probably broke something, so he's out for a couple of months.  If we're lucky, he'll still be gone when we next play MTL.  He should have waited to tackle from the side/behind.

MTL did us a major solid!  Thanks Maas!  Not only does it help WFC in the standings, but it pays off bigly in fantasy & pickems!  Fletcher was 160Y ground and over 100Y air + a TD!  Completely insane.  Whooda thunk it: Fletcher>Philpot in fantasy points.

Don't discount CGY: they held their own against the best team in the league far better than we did in week 1.  If CGY keeps some momentum late into the 4th they likely win.

We should study what CGY was doing in the first half, because MTL had no answer for it.  MTL looked dazed & confused.  So that's the way you beat MTL... Make some notes for the GC of WPGvMTL in BC!

Calgary has a tendency to lose the fourth Qtr.  do they change the way they play? Montreal did find a way to win.

Fajardo looks like M.O.P. For the league
Montreal looks like potential champs.
Was Montreal safety seriously injured? He is great for them.
They play great offense and defense.
Now if they would only confiscate those annoying horns.

Montreal showed why they are the best team in the league in the 4th and did us a favor by beating a tough Calgary team.

A smash mouth battle that looked a bit like a playoff game.

Calgary threw for just 130 yards, not going to win many games with just a running game. But wait! We did it... against Ottawa.

It's early but Philpot has the inside track for most outstanding Canadian.

Dequoy was testing his shoulder when he was walking off to the sidelines. Reports were he was in a sling later. It could be anything from a bruise to some sort of separation. I'd think he'll miss a game or two but there didn't seem to be any indication of a break of any sort.

He's a tough kid and I hope he recovers soon and well. Fun player to watch.

Calgary showed they can take advantage of gifts, and still lose the game.

If you give up 3 turnovers of more, 2% chance to win.  Pretty sure that is Dic kenson's own statistic.

Montreal gave up 3 turnoevers.

Montreal won.

Dickenson beat the odds...

What a move Fletcher puts on #31 to break his run into the end zone. Poor guy is still looking for his jock strap.

Quote from: DM83 on July 07, 2024, 01:39:54 PMCalgary has a tendency to lose the fourth Qtr.  do they change the way they play? Montreal did find a way to win.

MTL was getting smoked in 1st Q.  Cody lost.  Pressure getting to Cody.  Bad throws.  Run game not working.  CGY D in the exact right place.

Then MTL adjusted (remember that strange concept?) at halftime.  Adjusted big time.  They were a completely different team in the 3rd and 4th.  And CGY didn't have a plan B.

CGY could have still pulled out a W, but they lost heart, morale, then momentum.

I also saw something new, to add to the annoying MTL horns... people in the crowd were holding up their cell phones with the flashlights on shining them on the field when their D was on.  Never seen that before.  Never seen that @IGF/PAS.  I have no idea if it's effective, or if those fans are just dumb.

It felt like CGY was surprised to be in the lead, and did not know how to hold onto it in hostile territory.  They were gifted points, and then just let it get away from them.
