No more Matty Dunigan? Hmmm
Hope he is cool?
Henoc Muamba is the replacement. I hope he does not disrespect the Blue Bombers like he did when he played.
Wow. Matt has been a regular for a while. Henoc is pretty well spoken and a recent player.
Makes sense for a few reasons but I liked Dunigan as a player and thought he was kind of a funny panelist.
Quote from: GOLDMEMBER on June 05, 2024, 01:37:53 AMNo more Matty Dunigan? Hmmm
Really? Where'd you get that? I haven't watched really much on TSN about CFL other than the paltry 2 PS games (not even done the 2nd one yet).
Matty was great and I'll really miss him if gone.
Are we sure he's gone gone and not just being put into the booth? I really liked him in the booth, but many hated his style (here and the Sask forum).
Any skinny on "why"?
Henoc was on TSN a few times (PS and the GC last year??) and I didn't like him much. He has a weird style that I just don't think works. But I'll be open-minded if we're stuck with him.
I liked BLM so much more, he's a natural on the panel, but he's milking the end of his on-field career some more first.
Muamba is a bit weird. He sure likes to blather about his old team and ignore the rest. Yah no bias there right?

You mean like half the CFL teams? Haha. He sure moved around a lot. Gun for hire.
But ya, he seems fixated on TOR, that's for sure.
I'm wondering, did you hear/read somewhere Matty is done(igan) or did you just make a guess by the lack of him on the panel in the 3 TSN specials on yesterday? I'm pretty sure Matty would rate an on-air shout-out and thank-you.
Not a Muamba fan as he seems to have it in for the Bombers.....but that's just me not liking his style. He does make some astute comments from time to time....just don't care for his delivery

No I did not I am presuming as the panel made no mention of his GD duties etc..
I just did a quick search. Dunigan is back (according to TSN's own press release).
The CFL ON TSN panel, led by 2024 Canadian Screen Award-winning host Kate Beirness alongside Canadian Football Hall of Famers Matt Dunigan and Milt Stegall, sports betting lead analyst Davis Sanchez, veteran CFL head coaches Jim Barker and Paul LaPolice, and the 2022 GREY CUP Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian Henoc Muamba.

I guess they'll be rotating.
I like Dunigan in small doses. I loved him as a player, but he has trouble adding insight to a game, in my opinion.
I wish they'd get rid of Barker and Sanchez completely. Although Milt does seem to bring out the best in Sanchez, again, in my opinion. I think Milt forces Sanchez to occasionally go deeper than the lazy, superficial takes on a game.
Milt is the bad cop of the group, which was desperately needed.
Lapo is awesome - I could listen to him talk football all day. He's the one guy who seems to do his homework and never mails it in. I actually learn something when Lapo is talking. He could work on his delivery a bit, but that will come over time.
I like Beirness as a host. She keeps it fun and challenges the guys.
Twould really be nice to spell Matt Dunigan's name correctly though.

Lapo has put some unbelievable content on his youtube channel, much deeper than you would find on TSN. Example: Cover 4 explained, not for 2 minutes like you might see at halftime but 16 minutes long. A lot of X's and O's. Also has up in depth pieces on what happens in training camp and pre-season game prep.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dunnigan moved to colour commentary, he's very good at it and brings excitement and enthusiasm to the broadcast. As for Henoc, I don't hold a grudge but don't care much for his commentary style, as heard on "The Waggle Podcast", prefer Donnovan Bennett.

I've been typing his name here for 10 years and I still have trouble remembering if it's 1 "n" or 2... Not an easy name for spelling cues, and it's really not relatable to any other name in my life. If anyone has a mnemonic, let me know!

"Dun in again" is a nickname he had back in his playing days. Not sure if this helps you.

Milt upset by Davis. What else is new lol
I guess new addition is ok. Fart! :))

My memory is that the nickname was "Down again". Still one N, so still works.
While it wasn't inaccurate, Matty remains such a huge positive memory for me in my bomber history of following the team for more decades than I care to admit.
Quote from: DM83 on June 14, 2024, 06:52:28 AMI agree with the post noting Matt is. Great in small doses. Agreed Lapo blows the doors off the others....plus who knew? Lapo has a personality!
Lapo also knew how to get his O into the EZ on 1st & G at the 7 in 2019...
To me the panel has become too much of a comedy. The second half time segment was solely about what they all were wearing... what? Not a single mention of football. At least they seem to be having a good time which is good because it does nothing for me.
Watching TSN's Euro 2024 panel brings home how bad their CFL panel is.
The Euro panel: Prepared. Professional. Focused. Members have a deep vocabulary. Use replays to good effect to build on their comments. Play off each other well. Appear extremely knowledgeable and authoritative.
The CFL panel: None of the above.
I am happy with the panel.
The panel could be strengthened, IMHO, by replacing Sanchez and Muamba with LaPolice and BLM (when BLM soon retires). Maybe Muamba has not yet had enough time for this opinion, however, I still believe either PLP or BLM would be better.
Quote from: DM83 on June 16, 2024, 07:41:16 PMLapo is awesome. I would think he will be coaching should he want it shortly. Lapo in Edmonton, once the good there moves away.
Or back to Winnipeg, after OShea guides a player less squad to an awful season.
Mike O'Shea will not be held responsible for team performance this year. I'd be happy to make a small (legal) wager on that. Players leaving/retiring and/or a string of injuries that result in less-than-stellar season will not be on his shoulders.

Your negativity and tone regarding the club is getting a little much. Not sure where this is coming from regarding accountability for MOS. The Bomber organization is world class and will hold everyone accountable as needed (too early to know who or what that might be). Your idea of a wager on it is a pretty unusual bet.
Comments in brackets.
Players leaving/retiring (happens every year) and/or a string of injuries (can occur to any club) that result in less-than-stellar season (after 2 games this is an over the top suggestion) will not be on his shoulders.
Disagree with everything you said. Your tone continues to have the panic flavor to it.

Nice comment in the soccer guys. I don't watch, but I don't wanna hear from nobody .
Dunnigan might or should be being groomed for color commentary.
But back to Muamba. How classless to go and criticize so much when the guy was a mercenary. Not a very loyal guy moving every year (almost)as a player.
On yesterday's broadcast he was absent, and the flow was better? Maybe he gets better, but he doesn't fit into the panels chemistry. I hope he does not succeed.

Disagree with most of this and some of what you are posting is disrespectful. Lapo is a good coach. Too early to suggest an awful season. Agree on Dunigan.

DM83's veiled suggestion was that the Bombers will have "an awful season" and that LaPolice would be a candidate to replace Mike O'Shea.
My response suggested that IF the Bombers had a less-than-stellar season, Mike O'Shea would NOT be held responsible because of the player changes and string of injuries.
Make sense now?

Just signed on now and reviewed all the discussions. Not going to jump off the bridge just yet. Long way to go. And besides here in Calgary we have a water shortage so no where to jump off of and hit water. ;D
MOS's tenure with the WFC will be decided by MOS and only MOS. He is going to be here as long as he wants. Along with Walters and Miller. They are fixtures now, and even a 2-16 season would not be a reason to make a change. But should opportunities south of the border wave fistfulls of cash at them, I can see movement. Or if Walter's cushy AA job in Guelph rears its head again...
Lapo is a better TV guy than a coach. I might even suggest that he could be a good GM/Player personnel guy before being an HC again. OC would be a place on a coaching staff he would excel at, but I think it is below his paygrade.

As for the panel, everyone knows I'm a fan. They know their core audience who doesn't just pvr-skip over everything are uber-cfl fans who have heard it all before, so they do goofy shenanigans to keep it fresh and light.
I'm a panel fan. Totally not sold on Henoc, but I'll still give him a chance. Like the prev poster said, BLM was faaar better. I'm sure BLM is a shoe-in once he finally retires for good.

After MOS/KW's record, they get at least 2, most likely 3, years of suckage before anyone even mentions firing. We're only 2 games into suckage... they get 52 more suckage games before they have to worry. I'd say it's more likely MOS retires before we can him.

CGY does not have a shortage of actual water, but rather an inadequate delivery mechanism at present, much of the water pipe system is 100 years old, and decided to fail all at once.
It is just a matter of time, money and equipment to get the system repaired and supplying normally.
5 - 6 weeks at latest estimate, with the Stampede happening in 3...
I'm betting the area around the stampede is getting repaired first.
Coach LaPo analyzes Dru Brown;s game against the Bombers.
