Either way, it's not a feel good situation. However it does go somewhat against the innocent until proven guilty. Celebrities often are charged and settle to avoid more bad press and court costs.

It's kind of a similar situation of Ben Roethlisberger in the states.  It follows you around and isn't a good look for where you play.  Ticket sales will be bad enough with the new rules..we don't need another reason to have declining ticket sales.

He can go be with Dinwiddie or whoever will hire him.  I think we like character guys here.

Back to Pavia, I do like the idea, but it's a bit soon to tell right now.

I wasn't overly impressed with Pavia's NFL  draft profile. Others on our neg list looked better. OTOH, you never know who will ever show up in the CFL or how they will do.

Here are some of the comments below:

Sub-ideal NFL height leading to potential vision/throwing lane issues, average arm strength, post-snap reading inconsistencies, and durability concerns with a smaller frame.

While Pavia's deep ball accuracy is impressive, his arm strength is considered average at best, and his decision-making under pressure can be a concern. His willingness to take risks on the field and his ability to extend plays with his legs make him a valuable asset, but his inconsistencies in passing mechanics and reading defenses may hinder his long-term success as a starter in the NFL. Pavia's game thrives on quick decision-making and making things happen when plays break down, showcasing his ability to be a playmaker in the right circumstances.

With Kelly there may have been a civil suit but it never went to a criminal court, CFL or the Argos handled the accusation and punishment internally, which still baffles me. Maybe they let Andre Proulx judge the case.

The kid tonight in BC is what the league needs. He is going to kill the no name can't tackle defense. It's going to be embarrassing.

Unless Winnipeg can protect Zac, then Zac can succeed.
But our defense simply can't contain, or tackle .  BC big time.

Who is. This Diego guy?

Get that he comes with baggage but the number one way to decrease interest and gate revenue is to lose. Ask Ottawa. Good quarterback play wins games. He'll be the best FA QB on the market if he gets there. We would be crazy not to try.

He's on our neg list and is going to sign with USFL.

I think the opposite.  Bad bad marketing. I have friends in Ottawa who are ready to give up their seasons if he follows Dimwittie to Ottawa. They have had CFL seasons for over 20 years. I'm already down to a flex pack and I wouldn't renew. I like the character of this team and management.  I would not if we had someone like that as the QB who was chosen(and this is key) as the leader this team.

I think largely consumers don't follow through on that kinda thing. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it doesn't happen in large numbers. In the same way if you ask folks if a company's environmental footprint is important, they'll swear it is. And then when they're in the store looking to buy they buy on all the traditional things, price, brand familiarity, most important features.

In a sports context, overwhelmingly, fans support winning teams more than losing ones. All the data backs that up. The truth is there's not a lot of room for altruism in competitive economies and entertainment dollars are among the most competitive these days.

Hmm, choose one:
0-18 Have a stellar boy scout QB (Franklin?)
18-0 Have Kelly

That may be your choice.  You want to stand on ceremony?  I know what I'm picking.

And no one has mentioned yet that Kelly has not reoffended in like the 2-3 years since.  And clearly he's successfully jumped through all the "training" the CFL forced on him.  I thought people these days were all about "second chances"?  Isn't he the poster boy for a success story?
Never go full Johnston!

We are?  We regularly abandon the run, and all the coaches have admitted that's what we do if the D dictates it.

It's football, can't be overly moralistic regarding men who are paid to violently assault other men.  Bombers had Josh Haggerty on the their roster for a spell prior to his offence in BC and a Bison player who played ST for many seasons that was later charged with sexual assault that far exceeded the allegations made against Kelly. They were probably great guys until they got caught!

Well we were when we were winning the past few seasons. As discussed it's the lack of enough other stars on offence. That improved when we added Singer. But before that it was like playing with one hand behind our back. Teams took away the run and forced us to win throwing to Cobb, Corcoran, Clercius and so on.

I'm just saying that Kelly and the Argo offence is a pass offence. Running is not part of their thought that often. Montreal is similar.

They have gunslinger QB's that are not interested in nickel and dime long drives.

You mean that mouthy little imbecile who single handedly tanked his draft status and millions of dollars by being an immature stupid POS?
