Hello everyone long time creeper first time poster. This season has gone off the rails and I strongly believe it's the OC position is where we need
to upgrade. Having said that anybody have an idea who we should be targeting for that spot next year?

Blue In BC

Good question. We're all wondering the same thing.

If MOS is still here AND he moves on from Condell I think he looks at Kevin Bourgoin, currently Receivers Coach/Pass Game Coordinator in BC. Buck took him from us when he was hired. He was Receivers Coach here. He has OC experience in US college ball.

They won't fire MOS and take that big SMS hit on 2 years left on his contract.

It makes sense but I haven't seen next week's game yet or the playoffs if we get there.

Cal Murphy was destroyed one afternoon in Edmonton and that brought the Reinbold era here. If we need a rebuild, MOS is not the guy to do it. Hang the cost.

Easy to say harder to do. We may be shedding our OC and DC as well. That's a lot to change after this season. I can't remember if Murphy had contract seasons left but that was in an era with no coaching cap.

If we lose 68-7 on Friday I'd hire Reinbold again

I think we would have just made him OC instead of Hogan 2 years ago if that was a move either side wanted to make.

It's probably a moot point anyway since I can't imagine any  coaching changes anyway.

MOS and Condell aren't going anywhere and I'd bet Younger is back as well, this will be our first non-Grey Cup year in 6 years, so lets put that to rest. They'll be working hard as soon as the season is over to go over what went wrong and where we need to change things up--our O line, MLB and safety for starters, but coaches will be safe

I've been a Younger supporter all of these years.  His dream was promising.  But now I think he's going to be fired.  I doubt anyone else will take him, except as a positional/unit coach.  He's rapidly becoming Claybrooks, and not just for the hat and 20-yard stare that DM83 always points out.

Younger's scheme is flawed, and not because we can't get pressure and teams like MTL get explosions.  No, it's flawed because he didn't take into account a team going 90% run on you with fast-backs and possibly running QBs.  His system literally cannot handle that.  And it cannot be adjusted to handle that.  It's a doomed system if an opponent has those chess pieces.  And now 2-3 (or more) opponents do.

And since Younger cannot change his life's work at age (what?) 45, and his brain cannot countenance a change of philosophy, and since this will clearly lose us many games, he must go.  I don't know what his contract situation is, but it doesn't matter.  If no one else is available, it doesn't matter.

Did you see how MTL was ripping SSK a new one on the ground and then next snap SSK would just say "nah brah" and run blitz and stuff them.  Ya, Younger cannot do that.  He will not do that.  The heavens would fall if Younger didn't go max-coverage on 2nd down.

So Younger is gone.

7?  You give us waaaaaaay too much credit.

You know what will be fitting for the BC game?

1. We'll lose
2. We'll lose huge
3. We'll give up 440Y on the ground
4. Zach will get knocked out, leave, and never be seen again
5. Brady will get an avg of 2.5YPC before garbage time
6. Dru will throw 4 INTs
7. Some REC will get blown up with a suicide throw and be out
8. Nobody Salter who will never beat another team ever will clobber us all on his own, get 200Y on the ground, and Rourke won't even play one snap
9. However many TDs Horvath needs to beat Milt, that's how many we'll give him, thus screwing us now and Milt for eternity, thus crowning our achievement of crap

If Mafia won't fire Younger after that, the board will step in and do it.

As for the OP question: I don't think there's many potentials out there, unless you want to promote someone who's lower down.  That's a gamble, just like the Hogan Experiement.

I'm fine with Condell getting another year.  He hasn't helped us much, but I don't think he's what's hurting us.  He gave Brady enough runs to win the rushing title (as meaningless as it is with our W/L record).  He ran Brady when people asked, and Brady produced 0-3 much of the time, especially when we needed to close out games.

Plus, whatever chumps hang around for another year of intense pain will be familiar with Condell and we need that continuity to have any hope of improving.  Keep 4/5ths of our REC corps too.  Build on the tiny successes we've had.  If you want to blow things up, blow up the units and coords that have stunk, like OL, DL, LB, DB... RB... QB.

If anyone should be gone, it should be Younger. He's had his time in the Peg and hasn't shown anything for it. At least our offence actually has some teeth at moments. Our defence is the worst it's been in over a decade.

And what message does that send to MOS?

100% if you bring back MOS you are also bringing back the same coaches and whatever vets tape can hold together.

Even in some alternate reality where Younger is no longer here, MOS would promote someone already here to continue the vision. MOS AGREES with what Younger does. He demoted the best DC he's ever had, Richie Hall, just so he wouldn't lose Younger. They are both Stubler disciples from waaay back.
