Quote from: Blue In BC on October 15, 2026, 05:38:08 PMThe narrow scope game plan needs to have success with Brady. He should get the ball 15-20 times. If that is happening then he's having success which has many benefits. It helps control TOP, field position and sustain drives. It also forces the LB's into the box which opens up the passing game and slows down the rush.

Obviously we'd like to have similar success passing like last week. However, 2 of Brady's best games came against the Elks. We know that and they know that.

Which team has the better day with the output in that area?

It's not new or any secret. Can we win that LOS on offence.

Not sure what the Elks have to play for but guessing they'll run at 3/4 speed with a lot of starters taking half the game off, including Fajardo.  If the Bombers put in their best effort they should be able to win.

Elks play lights out so they can secure the home playoff game then they take their foot off the gas. They are not going in 3/4 with that still no secured and not playing at home. No way the Elks take it easy

I think BC won the season series. So, if I am Edmonton, it's pedal to the metal.

You're right 1st place is tighter than I thought it was.

Ya, the problem for edm is bc are huge favourites to win their last 2 games. That means edm needs to win at least 1 more.

Really sucks for us because if we beat edm in a slugfest, that forces bc to try their hardest too against us next week!!

If one were being very strategic, they might not try vs edm so bc won't try next week. Why take a pounding vs edm and maybe lose anyhow. The easier path is to face a b team squad vs bc to ensure a good playoff seed.

Not like we'll do that... Mafia never gives up, even if it's in their best interest. I'm not saying I disagree, but I do like to ponder.

One thing that impresses me about this season is that guys get hurt and it's not the end of the world. I remember back when Wild was starting will, and he'd get hurt all the time, and whenever he was out we stunk.

Now compare with griffin getting hurt. Smith comes in and we're nearly as good. Then later, maybe even better. Then smith gets hurt and griffin comes in. And I'm not even remotely concerned we'll be worse. Just one example.

It's a nice position to be in and is a testament to the mafia system of saying there are no b team players... just players.

The depth we have is very good. Agree, next man up isn't a big step down.

Uh-uh. Take your best shot this week for a chance to rest players the week before the playoff game.

But even that won't work out! If bc loses this week, and we win, we can still come in second! That would mean we have to try hard this week, and even harder in the final week to beat bc by 20 or whatever!

Maybe bc winning this week will be ideal, because then we can't possibly win 2nd and thus have the option of not trying next week. But we'd still have to beat edm this week to be sure of that luxury!

Man, the EDM REC chart looks so weak on paper.  Ever since they lost Luther they only really have Mack.  And Mack is a shadow of what he was pre-NFL.

Mack Cephus BOO Robustelli Mathis

I'd say our lineup is like 2X as good.  Seriously.  So why does EDM win so many games and we lose so many?  Well, clearly it's their RBs, and the fact Cody can run at will for 1st downs when D's leave flats & edges open.  And their D.

It's like EDM copied the SSK O plan from last season, but added an even better run game.  It's the secret sauce.  And like I've said for months: it doesn't take good RECs to make it work.  Serviceable and cheap guys (and/or NATs) are good enough.

When we're all complaining about lack of RECs, we should remember that the GC winner last season, and a likely GC winner this season both had middling REC corps.  (Doesn't work so much as a theory if MTL wins -- but they have the league-best QB, so they are special.)

As for our game, it's the same as always: stop those crazy good RBs (especially on the edge), and win your one-on-ones with the middling RECs.  Maybe cheat 2 guys towards Mack, as he'll be the go-to guy.  And lay the wood on Cody when he breaks away.  Don't give him any free runs.
