New?  They just need to repeat 2nd H from our last game.  Salter runs 30%, Horvath 70%.  Maybe chuck it every 10 snaps or if Younger actually run blitzes (ya, right; oink oink up in the air).  No one needs to do "new" to beat us.

Get ready.....  The scheme is the scheme is the scheme.  Adjust isn't in our vocabulary.

If I'm BC I'm totally listing Rourke as starter and playing him for around a Q.  That means Younger can't just dial up some radically different run-stop plan due to all the pressure he MUST be under.  Not like I think he would anyway, but Buck can obviate all of that simply by "starting" Rourke.

Of course... there is another possibility -- BC can pick their WSF opponent.  They may actually prefer SSK or CGY, thinking them easier to beat.  If I were them I'd consider it, because the Younger D actually matches up well against Rourke, who isn't patient enough for the D&D and doesn't run THAT much anymore.  And if THAT's the case they may just throw the game -- who's their QB after Salter?  Put him in.

I would agree, If I was BC, I'd rather face WPG in the playoffs.

Going back to the win over the Als in Wpg. they employed a lot less 3 man front and created more internal pressure on Alexander, so Younger does have options.  He fixates on pass defenc over run stopping to better suit the personnel he chooses to play, but he really needs to get back to basics and stop trying to re-invent the wheel if he wants to keep his job.

We beat MTL in WPG because MTL didn't run much and didn't D&D much.  MTL played into precisely what the Younger system is good at: stopping a traditional "expected" O scheme.  If every team did that then Younger would look like a genius more often than not.

That, and our O had a decent game and put up points, somewhat unexpectedly against a tough Thorpe D scheme.  We did things Thorpe didn't plan for, like have the perfect hot route answer for every snap.

As for "basics": you bet.  The highbrain novel Younger scheme was worth a try, but it's been cracked and will never work going forward.  The basics, like everyone else runs, is clearly dominating the CFL right now.  Just brutish guys in the front 7 whacking the snot out of the O -- that's it, that's all.  Keep your LBs in the flat for most snaps, not always having them pass-rush or gap-fill or deep-cover!  Most plays you NEED to have guys in the flat to rove and punish and stop the guys who make it past your plan A.  Younger NEVER has anyone in the flat, never has a rover, never has someone unassigned and busy.  In fact, on 2nd down he almost always removes most LBers and puts in the DB-like pass-chasing players.

Just play normal ball and hire the best bruisin' guys you can.  You can even still "smoke & mirrors" them like Hall (and Thorpe) have always done.  But after that snap you need O's to not think "that flat is always open".
