Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 03:42:22 PMYou didn't miss it. We don't know yet. If Collaros is getting reps he has to be moved to AR, reserve or 1 game IR. Obviously moving to 1 game IR blows any chance of SMS savings. Him playing again after this week if we lose seems to have little value.

If he can actually play then it's a different story whether we think he should play or not.

Put another way, I think if he practises then I think he ends up starting. He might give us a better chance than Brown.

I know I am a broken record, but we haven't won with 80% Zach, we haven't won with Brown.  Elgersma is still green.

Perkins is a UFL league MVP and has a SB ring.  What is the downside of giving him the starters reps, and then at least the first half of the game.  If he can't get the job done, go back to Brown or drop Elgersma in.

We need to see what he is, what he can do with a week of reps (2 practices, sheesh) and the confidence of giving him the keys.  He seems well liked, I think the team will play well for him, he has done everything they've asked of him without complaint.  And we've seen what he can do with his legs.

The season is on the line, and its on the line in large part because the QB position hasn't delivered.

This could be the lightning in the bottle we need to get to the playoffs, and go all the way.  Its not going to happen with ZC8, or DB4.

Are you crazy? This is not the time to gamble on a miracle worker, they either beat the Stamps with their established talent or they go down swinging. Once eliminated from the playoffs they can do whatever, till then they need to try to reach the level of play they attained when they beat the Als.  I see this as Zach's last gasp.

What we have done lately is not working.  The last game was a disaster.  Going into the game without changing anything is giving up, sorry.

ZC8 will not be 100% if he plays.  80% ZC8 will lose. DB4, bless his heart, hasn't had a full game of success in how long?  Not sure if it is a nick, or just in his head, but he hasn't been good.  Will he get better?  I guess we will see.

The actual way to have a miracle and make the playoffs is by looking at a miracle worker, or trapping a miracle in a bottle, or whatever mixed metaphor you want to use.

We know what we have in nicked ZC8 and in DB4.  We have no idea what BP9 can do after a week with the 1's in practice.  If he loses, well, that's pretty much what we'd expect from ZC8 or DB4.  If he wins, the team lift is incredible, and they have belief going forward into the playoffs.

If ZC8 or DB4 actually manages to beat CGY, next week we still have the doubts.

IF BP9 wins, hope springs alive, and the bandwagon gets fired up.

You play Zach if 80 to 90% and there isn't a big risk to his health, otherwise it's Dru.  The idea to start Perkins is really out there.  5% chance he would get a W.  25% with Brown, with Zach it's a coin flip maybe if all goes well.

I don't think that's a good idea. We play with the best we think we have with the season on the line. Perkins may have a future but giving him reps in this particular game is not a sound strategy with zero game experienc beyond SY.

We're not a great team but it only takes a bounce or two or big play from someone to win a game. VAJ may have an off day and we have the crowd on our side.

Exactly, if Zach can keep the offence on the field moving the ball as he did against the Als and for the first half of the Elks game, the defence has a chance of harassing VA and knocking him off his game.

It's not like the Stamps are a well oiled machine, they've been as inconsistent as the Bombers this season.  If Collaros performs to his best they can win, if not, he's finished.

This is THE game of the season, in essence the season is on the line. If Collaros can go, go with him, he's the best chance we got.

If Collaros can't go, oh boy, we're in tough. Brown will likely sputter, and if/when he does, I'd bring in Perkins and let him run a Streveller type offense with run-pass option. He could carry the offense with his running ability alone, similar to what BC's #3 did to us earlier this year.

If Brown is sputtering and going 2 and out, we got to do something to try and win this game, as if we loose, we al go home until next season.

You have zero idea whether BP9 starting is 0%, 5% or 95%.

We do know the ZC8 is a flip, and DB4 is probably 25%.

Hence my desire to have the unknown potential future of the team give it a shot, because not only this game is at stake, but the rest of the season, playoffs and future is in the balance.  And a coin flip or 25% is not going to cut it on an ongoing basis.

There comes a time when you just have to say, "What the fizzy"

tin foil in full effect here, did you go see techno (that said he hasn't been using his hat like I like LOL), Perkins is a good prospect and has tools, we know he is closer to 5% than 95% LOL

We do know the success rate of a raw rookie QB, it's very low.  A stat guy could dig up his chances.  It's under 10% overall for sure, on this club in this situation it's close to zero, we could bring back Reggie Slack, he would have a better chance at winning than Perkins or maybe Kerwin Bell, at least he would spike the nads LOL

Start a poll on his anticipated win %.  I would gather most would bet on less than 10%.  Sounds like you would go 75% LOL

Sounds like someone has a little more than just fizzy in their drink LOL.

All said I know what you mean in a way, you don't know what we got but this is worst time to test that with so much on the line.  You succeed as a young QB by taking it low and slow.  You don't win by putting someone into the fire when not ready.

I don't share you view point but don't mind the debate! And the jokes, all for fun

Brown and Zach at 25 and 50% is what we are, it will have to cut it.  Take that over 5%. Paying 20:1 odds that Perkins loses by 3 majors if he started.  Over under on ducks would be 3 or 4 LOL

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 05:01:18 AMI've been bemoaning the dumb practice schedule since like week 5.  Not to mention all the vet/injury days off.  I really don't think the top winning teams take such a casual approach.

Either that or the Mafia has wrongly (or rightly?) determined the players won't benefit from more practice -- that we're just stuck at a general level of crap that cannot be fixed.  Maybe that makes sense in week 19, but I maintain that it didn't in week 5.

The ironic part is Younger's scheme is supposed to be so complex that it takes a whole season to learn it, and we have a "new guy" Vaval who hasn't played CB for very long.

Maybe they could take the optional practice day, which they took off, and turned it into "let's learn how to follow the sneaking-out TE/FB to stop teams from getting the easy TD on us every darn game" day.  The O could also use the extra day for "learn how to block a -1 pass rush and get open downfield" day.  And the QBs a "how to feel & escape pressure in the pocket to buy 1-2 more secs" day.

Our team could really use those lessons.

Pretty sure O'Shea outlines the practice schedule in the off-season once the schedule has been released, basing days off on timing between games and rest needed more than anything. Problem is it doesn't take into account variables such as securing a playoff spot or compensating for injuries to key players missing practice.  Adjusting the practice schedule to fit the moment would be admitting defeat, which he would never do.
