He lost the SY job in Montreal because he screwed up multiple times.

Perkins was also immediately placed ahead of him. He was headed for our PR or an apple and a road map.
My wife is amazing!

They switched literally this week. Wilson was screwing up in the game 7 days ago.
Never go full Johnston!

That's speculation, a factor in the equation is always O'Shea's loyalty to players that have put in time over newcomers, just because.

It was announced Wilson left the team on his own accord even though he was listed 3rd on the depth chart behind Elgersma for the 2nd pre-season game. I'm not disputing Perkins is the better option, just saying you can't conclude Wilson wouldn't still be here if he hadn't bolted, afterall the same coach held onto Dom Davis for 3 full seasons before he decided to leave.

Keep in mind Payton Thorne another QB brought to TC had left the club just a few days before, so likely the two had been talking and reached the same conclusions about their chances to progress.

I think Wilson wants to be where there's a remote possibility he gets to be #2. He wants at least a shot of getting live game reps should the franchise guy go down.

And I think with all the new qbs we had coming in we told him he was only ever going to get SY duty.

And then we also told him that he had to compete heavily just to win the SY job. He felt insulted and asked to be cut. He probably felt he was going to be cut before week 1 anyhow.

It really is another Dom Davis story. I really have no idea why we waste so much time developing these guys who clearly can never be #1. While other teams were developing Rourke, Alexander, Kelly...

I have a theory that the Bombers hold onto players that accept support roles without expecting much in return, quiet guys who accept subservient status and never complain. Works ok while winning but once a team falls off the top roost it's harder to prolong good vibes, as a multitude of players refused PR spots or walked away during TC this year.

Going back through O'Shea's tenure the list of under used players would be long, from Augustine, BOLO, Flanders, Dom Davis, as well as any player that willingly accepts a ST role only like Ayers or Cadwallader, or guys that get shuffled on and off the PR for 2 or more seasons waiting for an opportunity to play that likely never comes.  Current candidates would be MCI, Vanterpool, Clercius, Shay, Eli, Cobb and Petersen, a good name for them would be place holders.
