More problems in Ottawa besides just the QB. He'd certainly help but he'd be an expensive SMS add. Rosters can be adjusted in the off season and free agency potentially but it's still an issue.

Definitely more problems than just QB, but that's the biggest change they could make.

Why would we add Hansen back? He's not the future and we haven't been using 2 globals on the roster this season.  We also added a global OL

Maybe that's what they do when they agree to retire a player?  Can't see using him on the D-line as he'd be taking up valuable reps from developing players but maybe a special role on ST.

They would be an obvious team that could be looking to make a trade. They do have some players we'd probably like but what do we have to give up that is a win win for both teams?

Ottawa may want to shed some higher SMS even though that involves talented players. Not every player will fit the go forward plan in 2027.

It's worth a phone call to both those teams to see if something is possible.

That said, I can't come up with something that specifically is a trade that works. Contract length and SMS in both directions comes into play. CFL has so many 1 year contracts so what's left besides a short term rental?

There will be only 4 games left after this weekend for most teams. Getting and incorporating a new player even a short term rental is a long shot.

Ottawa made 7 changes to their starters for today. In some cases that was due to injury. Their IR list is so long it's tough to know who might be returning shortly and / or released shortly. Everyone on the roster will be playing to win a role next year.

Oh ya, it's automatic. Other teams might bid, but Kelly to OTT is a done deal. Go see my comment about the huge hug Kelly gave dinwiddie after he their game the other week.

He'll also become the league highest paid qb, compared to this year's salaries.

I have no idea what tor is thinking they'll do next year. Pinball will have to work his magic.

Are we eyeing Hansen as a NAT replacement for the playoff run? We often end the season acquiring a couple of ex bomber rentals. Seem to do it every year. Lately the success rate has been poor.

Could this mean shay is useless and will be pr'd? He's the bubble STer as far as I'm concerned.

Having a fire sale is never a good idea if the intention is to improve the talent level of the club, the Elks finally began to retain players season to season and rapidly improved their fortunes.

Not a fire sale but they have 22 players on their 6 game IR. Not everyone will be wanted back in 2027. Some may have been found to not fit their team. That doesn't mean those aren't talented players.

In some cases rookies may have taken over the starting role over older higher SMS players.

Call me disappointed. I suppose Hansen could be a 1 day deal so he can retire a Bomber, but I don't think that is what is happening. That could have happened at any time but during the PR expansion?

I can't think of a team that might want MBT for depth at QB. However he's an example of a player the Redblacks might " trade " to shed a little SMS. He's not future or the present.  Time to play a different back up QB possibly.

Hansen is more of a DE type at 235 lbs. My point is that he's not part of the future IMO, so what the heck are we doing.

We did have a global OL on our PR last year but he'd have to replace an import to be able start. So again, that makes zero sense now or in 2027. He's also a guard. If he was experienced at center then maybe it makes sense, but he just seems like a player with little experience.

Drafted last in 2024 by the Als and spent some time with the Redblacks in 2026.
